Overview: The Celestron SkyQ Link is a plug-in Wi-Fi module
that enables you to wirelessly connect your telescope directly to your iPad,
iPhone, or iPod touch, or to a wireless access point. It has a male RJ-45 plug
and is compatible with a wide variety of Celestron computerized telescopes (see
list below). It plugs into the AUX port on the telescope mount, or replaces the
hand controller if no AUX port is available.
SkyQ App: The SkyQ app ($4.95 from iTunes App Store) is an
easy-to-use astronomy application for locating and identifying virtually any
celestial object visible in the night sky. It must be downloaded to your iPad,
iPhone, or iPod touch (requires iOS 5.1 or later) in order for you to connect to
the SkyQ Link module. The SkyQ app will automatically align the telescope to get
you started. Once aligned all you need to do is tap a desired object on your
device's screen, and the telescope will slew to that object and center it in the
Connection Modes: The SkyQ Link can connect to your iOS
device in one of two ways: Direct Connect Mode and Access Point Mode. The Direct
Connect mode connects the telescope directly to your device via its internal
Wi-Fi signal. The Access Point Mode lets you connect the SkyQ Link and your i-Device
to a separate Wi-Fi network. You can select the connection mode via a two-way
switch on the side of the module.
NexRemote: You can use the SkyQ Link with a PC running
Celestron's NexRemote software, allowing you to wirelessly connect the telescope
to your computer instead of through the RS-232 cable.
LED Indicators: The SkyQ Link has three LEDs along the right
side to indicate the status of the Power, Mode, and Transmitter.
Compatibility: The SkyQ Link is compatible with the
following mounts (including the listed telescopes carried by Crutchfield in
