Built-in woofers bring the bass

The MT2 features two tweeters and four midrange drivers across its front panel. Those alone are enough to dramatically improve the sound of any TV. But when you add in the MT2's dual down-firing 5-1/4" woofers and ported enclosure, you get extended bass response necessary to drive home the low frequencies that give movie and TV soundtracks depth and power. You'll hear all kinds of things you never hear through your TV's puny speakers. Eighty watts of built-in amplification and digital signal processing deliver virtual surround sound that's engaging and immersive.

Enjoy wireless music with Bluetooth

Want to listen to music through this system, too? Built-in Bluetooth lets you enjoy wireless music with your smartphone, tablet, or computer. Play songs from your digital library, listen to free Internet radio streams or Pandora, and stream tunes from your favorite subscription service like Spotify® or Beats Music™.

Simple setup

All you need to get the MT2 up and running is a single cable from your TV. There are optical, coaxial, and RCA inputs, so it's compatible with just about any TV. The included remote control even lets you adjust bass and treble response, so you can fine-tune the sound of this powerful speaker system to your satisfaction.

Product Research

Features

Tabletop TV Speaker System: The Proficient MaxTV MT2 is a one-piece tabletop TV speaker system which delvers high quality audio from your analog or digital connected flat-panel TV and Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. At only 4.0625" tall, the MaxTV MT2 slips easily under your flat-panel television. Your television's pedestal base should be no more than 28" (w) x 15.5625" (d) and weigh no more than 160 lbs.

Stereo & Simulated Surround: The MaxTV MT2 provides full stereo sound for music soundtracks. The MaxTV MT2 uses advanced digital signal processing (DSP) to create simulated surround sound that enhances your listening experience by creating a wide enveloping soundstage; perfect for movies, TV shows, games, and sports.

Active 3-Way Speaker System: Proficient's MaxTV MT2 employs two 1" silk dome tweeters, four 2.5" treated-paper midrange drivers, and two down-firing 5.25" treated-paper subwoofers. These multiple drivers are driven by four 20-watt RMS digital amplifiers set up in a two-channel, bi-amplified configuration for 80-watts RMS of total system power. This active 3-way speaker system delivers powerful bass, detailed mids, and clear highs.

Bass Reflex Enclosure: The MaxTV MT2 tabletop speaker system features a bass-reflex enclosure with dual rear-firing and dual front-firing ports for greater efficiency and bigger bass.

Analog + Digital Inputs: The Proficient MaxTV MT2 is fitted with both analog and digital inputs to connect your external AV components. There is one optical (toslink) and one coaxial (RCA) digital input to connect up to two digital audio sources, such as your flat-panel HDTV and Blu-ray player. The digital inputs will accept PCM (2ch) only. There is also one analog stereo RCA input for connecting an external audio device or TV without a digital output.

Note: The soundbar speaker's digital inputs do not support a Dolby Digital/DTS audio signal.

Bluetooth Audio Streaming: Built-in Bluetooth lets you wirelessly connect a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer, so you can enjoy your music collection or Internet radio through the MaxTV MT2 speaker system. Music navigation and song/artist information will still be done from your Bluetooth-enabled mobile device. Pairing is done without the need to enter a pin-code.

Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the tabletop speaker system.

Remote Control: The MaxTV MT2 includes an IR remote control for wireless operation of the tabletop TV speaker system.

Bass & Treble Control: You can adjust the soundbar speaker's bass (100Hz) & treble (10kHz) level in order to increase or decrease low and high frequency output.

Customer Q&A

Q
Can I program a Verizon Fios remote to work with this? It has a button for AMP, and I can control sound from a receiver.... I guess is there IR codes available for this unit is what I'm asking? Just being able to turn it on, and volume up and down will be sufficient. Thanks

A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: I'm afraid not. The remote that comes with the MaxTV MT2 must be used for control over that unit. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
I want looking to add good center, left, and right front speakers for music, movies, and TV but have limited space to the left and right of my TV. I have a good AV receiver and sub. One of the reviewers said he was unable to hook this up to his AV receiver to serve as LCR. Has anyone else been able to do this? Thanks

Mike, the answer to your question is no. This unit only has optical and coaxial digital audio inputs (accepts 2-channel PCM only, no Dolby decoding) so if you can't set your TV audio to output PCM audio you can't use the optical hook-up. analog stereo RCA inputs would be the final option for hook up. This is not what your looking for! Hope you find the right one...Good Luck.
michael  Nov 04, 2014
A
Sorry, actually it won't mix anything down. No decoding on board. PCM stereo via digital, or analog stereo with RCA jacks.
paul  Nov 03, 2014
A
There is not a way to hook it up as 3 discrete channels. Even if you output a 3 channel signal from your receiver into the soundplate via digital, it will mix it down internally to L and R channels.

Q
Will it run on 240v?

A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The owner's manual for the product states that the AC connection is a universal power connection that will automatically switch AC voltage from 100-240VAC. Even so, we cannot guarantee that the product will work as smoothly as it would normally work since it was designed with US standards in mind. There may still be compatibility issues with foreign power/voltage standards. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
I read a review on here that someone used they're Directv remote to control the volume...what remote and what code did you use do this, I cant find any info on doing it and Direct on screen programming doesn't list Proficient on its mnf list?? thanks

David, I returned the MT2 for kind of the same reason. The remote is very cheap and minimally functional. I couldn't get it to connect with my Cox cable remote or my TV remote. I was told it will connect to a Logitec Harmony but I don't want to spend $100 on a new remote. Additionally, there are no controls on the speaker itself, only a power switch. If you lose the remote, you can't do anything. I also have a Klipsch speaker, around $500 from Crutchfield and that is awesome and worth the money. Good luck

It wasn't me. The unit is really nice, though.
