Now that you've made the switch to a Samsung Galaxy smartphone or tablet, what can you do with that old powered speaker system with the Apple® 30-pin connectors? Plenty. With the CableJive samDock adapter cable, you can connect your Samsung device to your system's 30-pin dock and keep on enjoying great sound from your new favorite portable.
With the you samDock you can recharge your Galaxy smartphone from a 30-pin dock.
The samDock is compatible with Galaxy smartphones and Note tablets that have Audio Output Mode in their settings menu. When you select that setting, through the samDock you can both charge your device and play music through your connected system.
NOTE: Not compatible with Samsung Galaxy S5. See "Details" for a detailed list of compatible systems.
Works as intended to charge my cell phone
I bought it to use on my Victory motorcycle I have a ipod connection to the stereo and i used my iphone to listen to pandora it displays on the stereo what is playing and charges the phone. Well I bought another phone s3 and wanted to use this to still be able to listen to pandora all it does is charge the phone i think
Pros: you have a way to charge your s3 phone
Cons: all you can do is charge your s3 phoneCrutchfield response on March 17, 2015 Thanks for your review. We ran this by one of our Tech Support specialists. Here's what he told us: "You'll want to make sure that you have enabled your new device to send audio through the microUSB connector. Go into the settings menu, click on the "Accessory" or "Dock" tab, and make sure the "Audio output mode" setting is selected."
samDock Cable Adapter: The Cable Jive samDock allows Samsung Galaxy S (2/3/4) and Note (I/II/III) users to connect their Android smartphones to a variety of iPod docks and speakers which feature an Apple 30-pin dock. The samDock supports charging (5V), audio playback, and data syncing of your compatible Samsung Galaxy through your iPod dock system. And you'll still have access to your Samsung smartphone to answer emails, text, or talk on the phone while connected.Samsung Device Compatibility: The Cable Jive samDock is designed specifically for Samsung Galaxy smartphones, such as the S2/S3/S4 and Note I/II/III.
Note: The samDock is not compatible with the new Samsung Galaxy S5 or newer.
Connectors: On one end of the Cable Jive samDock is a female Apple 30-pin connector which plugs onto your iPod dock's 30-pin dock connector. On the other end is a male 5-pin microUSB connector which plugs into your compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
Galaxy S3/Note II Setting: If you connect your Galaxy S3 or Note II to a docking station with the samDock and you are able to get charging but not audio, you'll want to make sure that you have enabled your device to send audio through it's microUSB connector. To do this, go into the settings menu, click on the "Accessory" tab, and ensure "Audio output mode" is selected with a check mark. On some devices, that "Accessory" tab may be named "Dock" instead, but the menu you'll find within is the same.
Incompatible Systems: The samDock is compatible with many 30-pin iPod docking stations, including systems from Bose, iHome, JBL, and other popular brands. However, there are some that suffer compatibility issues. Here are the systems that Cable Jive has currently confirmed issues with (as of 8/11/2014):
|System Type||Brands & Models|
|Standard iPod Audio Docks||All models from Philips, Panasonic,
Bowers & Wilkins, Bang & Olufsen, Denon, Onkyo, Pure
