About the Audiofrog GB60
A big splash
A big splash
If you haven't heard of Audiofrog yet, here's what you need to know – there's no one like them. We know, because we put their speakers to the test, side by side with some of the most celebrated car speakers in car audio. Track after track, with music that spanned many genres, Audiofrog's speakers made our jaws drop.
It's no coincidence. Audiofrog was founded by car audio veterans, who have been on the front lines of audio innovation for 30 years and have a rich, colorful history of crafting award-winning, custom car installations. Drawing on that substantial experience and their practical knowledge of what makes a great speaker, Audiofrog has created a no-nonsense, high-quality car audio line. While their speakers will fit into a large number of vehicles, Audiofrog's emphasis is definitely on custom installations.
Audiofrog provides a versatile bezel for custom installations, or simply unscrew and remove the speaker from the bezel to install in factory locations.
The toughest speaker in town
Audiofrog's GB60 6" midrange speaker sits in your palm with the weight of a stone -- there's not one plastic part in this speaker. Cast zinc housing protects the treated paper cone, which delivers all the complex midrange nuances that define the character of instruments and vocals. A copper polepiece cap helps extend frequency response and reduce distortion, making this little speaker a tough one to beat.
Such an efficient design puts the GB60 near the top of its class in the realm of power handling, with a rating of up to 100 watts RMS. Add in Audiofrog's grueling standards for real world speaker testing, and you can trust that the GB60 will live a very long life in your car.
Built for custom installations
Audiofrog was founded by experienced installers, who know all the pitfalls and shortcuts of custom installations. With the included metal mounting hardware, you'll find custom fabrication of a speaker location much easier. The all-metal finish of the GB60s removable ring can be polished, painted or upholstered, depending on your vision for your interior. The grilles are ideal for painting as well.

Features
Durability: The Audiofrog GB60 midrange drivers are tested in temperature and humidity extremes, as well as under vibration to simulate 50,000 miles of operation in a vehicle. The Nitrile-Butadiene Rubber (NBR) surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.
Multi Component Systems: Audiofrog matches sensitivity to voltage across all the midrange drivers in the GB series, making system tuning easy in multi-component systems. The GB60s are designed to mate with the GB10 tweeter (item number 898GB10, sold separately), or the GB15 tweeter (item number 898GB15, sold separately). They can also be used in 3-way systems with the GB25 or GB40 midrange (item numbers 898GB25 and 898GB40, sold separately) and the GB10 or GB15 tweeter.
Crossover: Audiofrog recommends using an active band pass crossover with a high pass setting no lower than 70 Hz and a low pass setting no higher than 3.5 kHz. The minimum recommended slope for both is 12 dB/octave.Enclosure: If an enclosure is built for the GB60, Audiofrog recommends the internal volume be at least 4 liters (0.144 ft³).
Power Handling: Audiofrog lists two RMS power figures in the manual; 100 watts RMS in the technical specifications section and 20-125 watts RMS in the recommendations section.
Installation: Hardware is included for several mounting methods. The drivers can be top mounted behind a factory grille in many 6-1/2 and 6-3/4 applications, although 6-1/2 applications will typically require drilling new screw holes. Adapter brackets are included for mounting in several GM and Chrysler vehicles. They can also be top mounted using the included grilles along with the grille trays and backing rings, or bottom mounted using the included grilles and backing rings.
Screw Terminals: The screw terminals will accommodate up to 12-gauge speaker wire.
Dimensions: When not using a factory grille:

Frame Diameter | 8.175" (grille tray) | 7.827" (backing ring) |
Cut-Out Diameter | 5.041" | 6.9" |
