When V-MODA stopped by our headquarters with some of their headphones — including the Crossfade Wireless — buzz traveled through the building fast. The good-looking, smooth-sounding 'phones caused such a stir that Senior Advisor Manager Jimmy Baranik rearranged his schedule to make it to a listening session. He liked what he heard so much that we let him take the first trial run with the V-MODA Crossfade Wireless 'phones.
He took them home and paired them with his smartphone easily. "I didn't look at the directions once," he told me, "they were as user-friendly as my iPhone."
The V-MODA Crossfade Wireless headphones, shown in Gunmetal, are incredibly durable and come with a heavy-duty "exoskeleton" case for extra protection.
"Sounded like they were wired"
Jimmy, like many skeptical audio enthusiasts and experts, figured wireless convenience would come at the expense of sound quality. But when he fired up some tunes, he heard robust, powerful bass and crystal clear highs. "These bad boys exceeded my expectations," he said.
Whether he placed his phone across the room or in his pocket, the audio never dropped out. As far as music, he put on a little bit of everything and said they sounded better than a lot of wired headphones. On Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic," he said, "the vocals jump out at you...It's a song we've all heard a million times, but through Crossfade Wireless it felt like a new experience." He also noted how well they handled a Fugees track, Lauren Hill's voice came through sweet and beautiful over the tight, solid bass line.
Constructed for comfort and durability
Jimmy was impressed with the rock-solid metal earcup plates and steel headband sliders. V-MODA puts the Crossfade Wireless through a quality and stress assessment that's beyond military standards. While there's no active noise cancellation, these headphones are built to naturally isolate noise — something Jimmy appreciated while he did some yardwork. "My leaf blower makes an annoying, screechy sound," he said, "it was a treat to block out the commotion."
But while they're extra-rugged, they feel quite comfortable to wear. Jimmy said the leather, memory foam-filled earpads "felt as pleasant as an expensive couch." And the headband is extra-flexible for a snug fit that's also relaxed. (V-MODA even offers optional extra-padded ear cushions.)
Wired mode and customization
V-MODA goes to great measures make sure the headphones fit your needs and taste. If you want to save battery power, you can listen wired. The included cable is reinforced with Kevlar® and features a one-button remote and mic for taking phone calls. Plus you can pick up some of the offered accessories, like a BoomPro mic cable for video games, Skype®, or podcasting.

Overview: The V-Moda Crossfade Wireless over-ear headphones feature an immersive 3D soundstage, and a rugged metal construction, built to withstand the rigors of everyday life. With built-in Bluetooth, you can listen to your favorite music or take phone calls without being tethered to your phone. The headphones can also be used as wired headphones, if desired, and include a Speakeasy cable with an in-line microphone and 1-button remote. Also included with the headphones is a tough hard-shell exoskeleton carry case.
Over-ear Design: The Crossfade Wireless have a circumaural (over-the-ear) design that's designed to isolate outside noise, and minimize sound leakage. The supple Bliss Memory Foam cushions naturally form to your ears, providing ergonomic comfort, and creating a seal to shut out external distractions.
Bluetooth: The Crossfire Wireless are equipped with low-power CSR BlueCore technology with Hi-Fi AAC+, AAC, MP3, SBC codecs, and OTA (over-the-air) Flash ROM upgradeable features. The headphones have a wireless range of approximately 33 feet when paired to a Bluetooth device. You can pair them to two devices at once, such as a smartphone + laptop, smartphone + tablet, or smartphone + smartwatch. You can also pair the Crossfire Wireless to some gaming consoles (Sony PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita) via Bluetooth.

Outperform any headphones in this price range. I have Bose QC 25 and believe me..these are better than Bose's. XL size earcups should come along with it.
