Product Research

Features

Overview: The Fortin RF-ALL 642W is an RF remote kit for the EVO-ALL and EVO-ONE stand-alone remote start and car security systems. These remotes have a transmission range of 3500 feet. The package consists of two 4-button 2-way remote transmitters, a receiver/antenna, and wiring harnesses to connect the kit to the system.

2-Way Remotes: These FTX64-2W remotes feature 2-way operation, meaning each will send commands to the receiver, then receive visual and audible confirmation of the commands from the receiver. The four buttons have the following functions:

Flash Required: The EVO-ONE remote start and car security system (and in some cases with the EVO-ALL) must be programmed for this RF remote kit. To do that, you must connect the EVO-ONE/ALL module to the Fortin Flash Link 4 Updater (sold separately), and flash the module with firmware that will enable it to accept commands from the RF kit.

Yes very easy to install and it was a very nice add on also

If you were comfortable installing the control unit yourself, this is a breeze -- on the other hand, if you weren't this should probably be done by your installer. It isn't challenging, but there are a few programming steps.
bradley  Dec 19, 2018

It's the easiest to install, but I still ran into problems. I would never recommend installing any remote unless done by an expert.

Q
will this work on my 2006 dodge caravan sxt without any programming? is this just a straight install?
michael  Dec 19, 2018
1 answer
A
It does not. This RF remote kit requires the install of a Fortin remote start system and then that remote start system must be programmed to recognize and use this RF kit. My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Paul

Q
2010 Ford Taurus with push start, does this replace the OEM remote. The OEM remote has to be in the vehicle to start the car?
shelton  Dec 13, 2017
1 answer
A
It doesn't replace the OEM remote. You still need the OEM remote it to operate the vehicle. This just greatly extends the range of starting your vehicle. I work a little more than 1/4 mile away from where I park and have no issues starting my car from my worksite. In my opinion using the OEM remote to start is pointless. The range for them is so limited it defeats having remote start.

Q
how do you change the remote battery ?
harold  Apr 26, 2016

A
You can actually replace the battery. Remove the two small screws on the lower back of the housing and using a credit card or small plastic flat tip screw driver pry the front and back apart. Can't remember the battery number for them but they are about $8 a piece and can be procured at any general store.
christopher  Dec 13, 2017

The Fortin RF642W doesn't include a replaceable battery. If the remote goes out or stops working, you can contact Fortin directly for replacement info at 800-998-6880. I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159

Q
Does this work with evo one?
james  Apr 02, 2016

A
Yes it does and it works amazingly well. I had to buy these key FOBs for my wife's 2013 Honda Pilot because she was not able to use her original key FOBs with the Evo One. I love that it gives you "feedback" to let you know if the car started or not. These also have a long range and also work great from inside the house or even stores. Definitely worth the money.
james  Apr 04, 2016
A
Yes, but don't use the 12 V adapter harness. That's for the evo all.
frederick  Apr 03, 2016
A
i beleave it only works with the evo all
richard  Apr 03, 2016
A
Yes it does. Getting the right person to help you program them can be very difficult though.
vincent  Apr 02, 2016
A
yes it does check this link https://fortin.ca/en/qa/65519/fortin-rf642w-compatible-with-current-version-evo-all
charles  Apr 02, 2016
A
Yes, I have it with an evo one in my wife's Ford Fusion. It works for remote start and lock. I don't know I gave up trying to figure out the unlock, lock, trunk, and start. I got the start to work and called it a day. The range is good with it and it works very well. It plays a little tune when you hit the button to start and then the light changes color when it does.
