About the Memphis Audio 15-PRX8D4
Thunder and lightning
Thunder and lightning
Sometimes the wind blows just right down Beale Street, and it brings up thunder and lightning. Memphis Audio built their Power Reference Series subwoofers to bring some low-frequency thunder into your ride. The 15-PRX8D4 8" subwoofer delivers big bass and high output, with an improved suspension and coil design that allows this sub to handle up to 200 watts RMS.
The power of paper
There's a reason that most electric bassists use paper speakers – it sounds warm! Memphis Audio uses a coated paper cone with a double-stitched butyl surround to build a sub that creates classic bass tone while still standing up to the power demands of today's bass-heavy music. The dual 4-ohm voice coils allow you to get maximum punch from your mono amp.

Features
Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 4Ω voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents an 8Ω load.
Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation. The boot is removable if needed for tight installations.
Sealed Enclosures: Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music. Memphis Audio recommends a sealed enclosure volume of 0.45 ft³.
Vented Enclosures: Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. Memphis Audio recommends a ported enclosure volume of 0.7 ft³ with a 2" diameter x 5-3/4" long port, yielding a tuning frequency of 43 Hz.

Great compliment with 5 1/4 front component speakers and 6X9 3way rear deck speakers in my 1965 Mustang.
