Treat your ears to pristine dialogue
High-quality woofer and tweeter materials provide exquisite sonic detail.
ELAC has a storied tradition of building uniquely designed, high-end speakers that sound amazing. Now, they've used that expertise to create their new Debut series — a speaker line that delivers incredible performance at a great price. Designed by renowned speaker engineer Andrew Jones, the C5 center channel provides clear, room-filling dialogue along with lifelike sound effects. Smooth high frequencies from the 1" silk dome tweeter complement a powerful pair of 5-1/4" woven aramid-fiber woofers. The result is full, natural sound that won't break your budget.
My experience with the Debut C5
We recently set up an ELAC Debut 5.2.4 Dolby Atmos home theater system in the Crutchfield Labs, using the C5 as the center channel. During my viewing of The Martian, I was impressed by the C5's crisp dialogue and full, natural sound. The immersive soundstage it created made me feel like the Mars expedition was unfolding right in front of me.
Custom components deliver high-end performance
The C5 stays true to ELAC's rich audio heritage by using custom-designed, high-quality crossovers and beefy voice coils. This attention to detail lends to the overall magic that these speakers offer. Dual rear-firing ports extend bass performance, ensuring that even the deepest of voices are reproduced accurately. The C5 is a perfect center channel for a surround sound setup made up of speakers from the ELAC Debut line, all of which were designed by Jones.

Features
Two-Way Driver Design: The Elac Debut C5 center-channel loudspeaker features a two-way driver design with a 1" tweeter, two 5.25" woofers, and a 3,000Hz crossover. Both the tweeter and two woofers have been custom designed by Andrew Jones to deliver an exceptional audio experience that can't be delivered with typical off-the-shelf parts
- Cloth Dome Tweeter w/ Wave Guide: The Elac Debut C5 features a 1" cloth dome tweeter with a custom-designed waveguide with a deep spheroid profile. This waveguide design is utilized to improve directivity control and shield the tweeter from cabinet diffraction.
- Dual Woven-Aramid Fiber Woofers: The center-channel speaker features two 5.25" woven aramid-fiber cone woofers with rubber surround, oversized magnet, and vented pole piece. Woven aramid fiber offers a superior stiffness-to-weight ratio and damping over common polypropylene or paper cones. The added strength allows more flexibility in design to achieve a smoother, extended frequency response.
- Custom Crossover: A custom seven-element crossover (3,000Hz) with audio-grade components is implemented to ensure smooth transition between the tweeter and woofers.
Bass Reflex MDF Cabinet: The Elac Debut C5 center-channel loudspeaker uses a bass reflex cabinet with two rear-firing flared ports for greater efficiency and bigger bass response. The cabinet is made of MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) with two vertical braces to strengthen and stiffen the cabinet, helping minimize unwanted vibrations that can discolor music or movie content. The MDF outer walls of the cabinet are covered with a textured vinyl black finish. A detachable cloth grille is included.
5-Way Binding Posts: The Elac Debut C5 center-channel loudspeaker is fitted with a set of 5-way binding-post terminals which will accept bare-wire (up to 10AWG), pin-connectors, spade-lugs, and banana plugs (single or dual).
Placement & Mounting Options: The center-channel speaker should be placed directly above or below the center of your TV screen. It can rest on a flat surface like a table top, shelf, or stand. Try to keep the center-channel as close to the same level as your front speakers for a more even soundstage. If this is not possible, you might try tilting the center speaker up (if too low) or down (if too high) to aim it wards the listening area. The speaker should be positioned approximately 1' to 2' away from boundaries, such as walls or corners.
Elac Debut Series: The Elac Debut series family of loudspeakers consists of two bookshelf speakers, two floorstanding speaker, a center-channel speaker, a Dolby Atmos enabled speaker, and two powered subs.

My wife and I watch a lot of British TV and we were having trouble understanding what they were saying. Got the C5 and the dialog comprehension increased tremendously.
