Blue Series B62C 6-3/4

German engineering meets car audio

Helix builds their low-profile Blue Series speakers to fit into more factory speaker locations while maintaining their high standards for sound quality. Helix earned its reputation by paying attention to the details, and these speakers really uphold the family name.

The drivers

You'll hear excellent high-frequency detail from the 1" silk dome tweeter, while the polypropylene woofer supplies solid, punchy bass. An external crossover is included to keep the right frequencies going to the correct drivers. If you want to enjoy the little details in your music without breaking the bank, you'll want to check out these Helix speakers. Grilles are included.

Note: Helix describes this model as a 6-1/2" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-3/4" speaker. For simplicity's sake we list it as a 6-3/4" speaker.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Product Highlights:

  • component speaker system includes 2 woofers, 2 tweeters, and 2 crossovers
  • 6-3/4" injection-molded polypropylene woofer cone with rubber surround
  • 1" silk dome tweeter
  • 2-way external crossover network
  • power range: 5-50 watts RMS (150 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 55-25,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 91 dB
  • top-mount depth: 2-1/2"
  • grilles included
  • warranty: 2 years

Why install component speakers?

A component speaker system gives you the best possible performance from your car audio system. A system consists of separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, each designed to cover one specific range of frequencies. As separate components, the woofer can move freely to deliver more powerful performance, while the tweeter can be custom-mounted in a better spot up closer to your ears, revealing a whole new world of detail. Separate crossovers are far superior to the simple filters wired into full-range speakers, so the components work together for smoother, more focused sound.

2001 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

put these in the front of my 2001 f150 with Helix Helix Esprit E57X in the back. running a sony mex 810bh with no amp. sound is clear with little distortion, even with deck at max volume. clean hi and clear mids. needed some custom mod to get them to fit, but not hard if you are handy. looks great, sounds great, would recommend them .

Pros: packs a nice punch. outstanding frequency response. looks good

Cons: none at all

2015 Kia Forte
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I picked these up for the front of my 2015 KIA Forte, the tweeters didn't require an modifications to install rather they fit perfect with a little trimming of the underside of the factory speaker grill from the dash. I just had to trim the cone shape off the under side of the grill. The tweeter sat nicely in the factory hole and the factory grill popped right back in place. The door speakers sound the best without the Boom Mat foam speaker inserts, I tried with and with out the Boom Mat inserts and without the inserts I tripled the bass. For my Forte the installation adapters that came with the speaker for free from Crutchfield could not be used, I had to modify the factory speakers to fit the new speakers.

Pros: Great sound, big improvement over stock. Biggest pro is by far Crutchfield themselves for AMAZING customer service, sales support, free shipping, huge selection; I could go on and on. Easy to install nice design and look. Crossovers were easy to wire and stash in the dash.

Cons: Small speaker wire that comes with the speakers is wired into one end of the crossover making it not possible to upgrade wire size. Hopefully the factory wires can handle the Watts they are rated for. I'd assume the factory did their homework and the wire will be fine.

Great Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speakers, they look cool and sound great.

Pros: Style, sound quality is great.

Cons: Crossovers had integrated speaker wires on the output, so placement had to be close to speakers, or splicing would be required. I would have rather ran my own wire from the crossover to the speakers.

very good speakers

2010 Toyota Yaris
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got these for the front position on my 2010 Yaris, the sound is outstanding and with easy to use instructions and installation hardware from crutchfield the set is great. The sound is of more European accent with a more warm sound and not very metallic, like mb's almost high quality build except for the ball type tweeter housing. They tend to snap open on hot days. Used a drop of super glue and each a the problem is solved...

Pros: Great sound for price

Cons: Week ball type housing for the tweeters

Doin the job, probably not winning awards

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Swapped out the B52Cs for 62s. I'm pushing them with a stock head and clarion 4-channel amp. The bass response it a bit better with the 62s, but there's not a ton. These aren't distorted by bass as easily as the B52Cs. Mids are great from the woofers. The tweeters are rather loud, but the highs are smooth. The crossovers could really use a 3-6 db reduction switch. I'm going to wire in an LPad eventually

Pros: Nice, smooth mids and highs. Better bass handling than the 5 1/4 inch version

Cons: Still not a lot of bass, but that's not what I was after really. Too much volume on the tweeters.

2012 Toyota Tacoma
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I normally look at the reviews on a product before purchasing it. There were no reviews on these at the time of purchase but after talking to crutchfields sales support, i decided to give them a try. The installation was very simple and straight forward. The crossovers that came with the speakers are about 1" x 2" with two sets of flying leads for the speakers. You simply attach your speaker wire from the head unit to two screw terminals on the crossover and tuck it away. The sound is better then stock but not quite what I was looking for.

Pros: Easy installation. Crossover is about 1"x2" easy to tuck away.

Product Research

Woofer: The B 62C component system includes woofers with injection-molded polypropylene cones and durable rubber surrounds. This process of cone molding assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also lighter weight and more rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Magnet cover: The woofers are shipped with a rubber magnet cover to protect the speaker. If the cover is removed the depth changes slightly:

  • Top Mount Depth: 2.337"
  • Bottom Mount Depth: 2.504"

Size Classification Note: Crutchfield has traditionally referred to this woofer size as a 6-3/4", while some manufacturers, including Helix (Audiotec Fischer), call it a 6-1/2". Please refer to the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm fit in your vehicle.

Tweeter: The system uses 1" silk dome tweeters with neodymium motor structure. The tweeters can be flush mounted, surface mounted, or surface mounted at an angle using the included brackets. Once mounted, the tweeters swivel so you can direct them toward the listening positions.

Tweeter Dimensions:

Frame Width Frame Length Cutout Diameter Mounting Height Mounting Depth
Flush Mount 2.160" 2.160" 1.835" 0.50" 1.0"
Surface Mount 1.845" 1.845" N/A 1.185" 0.4" (Screw Depth)
Angled Surface Mount 1.850" 1.835" N/A 1.355" 0.4" (Screw Depth)

Crossover: Each crossover has screw terminal inputs and separate, attached 38" output leads for the woofer and tweeter. No crossover frequency or slope information was provided by the manufacturer.

Crossover Dimensions:

  • Length: 1.905" (plus wiring)
  • Height: 1.070"
  • Width: 1.385"
