German-built quality

Are you looking to add some extra kick to your car's audio system? HELIX made their Competition C6B 6-3/4" midbass speakers from Agave sisalana, an extremely stiff natural fiber, to give you the tight, responsive performance you want. The C62C or C63C component speaker systems from Helix feature an extra set of woofer outputs on their crossover networks. These C6B speakers are duplicates of the ones in these component systems, so they are perfect for adding even more midbass impact.

These speakers will also work fine as standalone midbass drivers. You can feed them plenty of power — up to 150 watts RMS — so there's no need to be shy with the volume control.

Note: HELIX describes this model as a 6-1/2" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-3/4" speaker. For simplicity's sake we list it as a 6-3/4" speaker.

What's a component sub and why would I want one?

A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.

Hands-on research

What's in the box?

  • 2 Woofers
  • 2 Metal grilles
  • 2 Plastic grille frames

Product Research

Cone: The woofer cones are made of sisal fiber and they use durable rubber surrounds. The mechanical advantages of sisal, rigidity and inner damping, result in faster transients and precise detail.

Magnet cover: The woofers are shipped with a rubber magnet cover to protect the speaker. If the cover is removed the depth changes slightly:

  • Top Mount Depth: 2.54"
  • Bottom Mount Depth: 2.71"

Terminals: Each speaker has screw terminal inputs that will accommodate bare wire or spade connectors up to 0.315" wide.

Size Classification Note: Crutchfield has traditionally referred to this size speaker as a 6-3/4", while some manufacturers, including Helix (Audiotec Fischer), call it a 6-1/2". Please refer to the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm fit in your vehicle.
