Esprit Series E57X 5High fidelity with excellent imaging

Helix's German engineering pedigree really shows up in their Esprit Series speakers, which offer big technological bang for the buck. The E57X 5"x7" speakers use an adjustable 3/4" silk dome tweeter that you can tilt and rotate to improve imaging in cars with less than optimal tweeter placement. Each speaker features a rigid 5"x7" woven fiberglass cone that delivers tight midrange and bass reproduction, while the durable rubber surround helps this speaker provide exceptional sound for years to come.

Built for power

A tough stamped-steel basket houses each woofer and tweeter, providing the stability needed to maintain accurate reproduction when the music's turned up loud. The Esprit E57X speakers will sound great powered by an aftermarket car stereo, but an outboard amplifier will give you the best audio quality. Grilles are included.

Product Highlights:

  • 5"x7" 2-way speakers (pair)
  • woven fiberglass woofer cone with rubber surround
  • 3/4" silk dome tweeter (rotates 360° and tilts up to 25°)
  • power range: 10-50 watts RMS (150 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 45-22,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 91 dB
  • top-mount depth: 2-3/8"
  • grilles included
  • warranty: 2 years
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Great speakers. Worth the money in my opinion if you're looking for an upgrade in sound. You can spend less but why not spend a little more and be very happy. Very versatile and accommodating to a wide range of music.

Pros: Sound.

Cons: One speaker came with an adjustable tweeter damaged but Crutchfield was great and replaced it without issue.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I also rarely write reviews, but as the reviews of this product helped me select these speakers, I figured I'd try and pay it forward. I came into this project with very limited knowledge of speakers, so I did as much research as I could about differences in design and material. This led me to narrow my options between these and several similar, slightly cheaper speakers. From there, reviews, material quality, and german production led me to choose these speakers. I paired them with a Sony MEX-XB100BT, allowing me to send them max power w/o an external amp. I listen to just about everything, Reggae, Rock, Rap, Chill, Classical, Reggaetón, etc... everything sounds great. The sound quality is amazing, especially vocal reproduction. Voices sound so clear and real its as if the singer is right in front of you. Bass is excellent in my Mercury GM w/o any sub. Highs are crisp, clear, and beautiful. Speakers included grill, wiring, and screws if needed. Crutchfield included everything else. I was especially pleased with Crutchfield's support, as one box of speakers arrived damaged. Crutchfield processed the exchange quickly and payed for all return shipping, even sending a hand-written thank you... very impressed and pleased with my experience overall.

Pros: Sound quality, material quality.

Cons: The tweeter tilt seems useless and only seems to increase chance of breaking the tweeter off.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First off I very rarely write reviews. I wrote this because I am a research nut and I know that buying speakers you cannot hear are difficult. These are my second full set of interior Helix speakers I now own. When looking to upgrade my f150 I went to a local car audio shop who has a very knowledgeable audio expert who was a sales rep for JL and many other car audio manufactures. He also is a world champion audio competitor and competes for clarity and perfect sound rather than mind numbing bass. He talked me out of a set of top of the line JL components for a set of Helix Esprit series. I am 35 years old and realize the older I get the more critical I am of clean crisp high definition audio. When I demo'd the Helix speakers nothing could come close to the overall fullness and acoustic clarity of the speaker. With a good clean amplifier there is no sound these speakers cannot replicate with ease. I listen to all kinds of music. Kid Rock, Sevendust, Michael Jackson, Zac Brown Band, Michael Buble and Skrillex. I loved these speakers so much I purchased them for my 89 TBird Supercoupe also. In the f-150 I have a Kenwood excellon series amp and my TBird I have an Alpine 45 x 4 rms amp. That is all you need. These speakers are so efficient and they can handle ANY VOLUME!!!! They even outshine my set of Boston Acoustic components that are in my Maxima. I promise you, you will not be disappointed.

Pros: Phenomenal clarity, awesome volume threshold, high quality, sound even better with age and when broken in, Excellent price point!

Cons: There are non. My only advise is that you have to hook these speakers to an amplifier. I first installed them in my Tbird using the power from my Kenwood Exelon head unit and I was very disappointing. A few hours later I finished connecting my amplifier and was BLOWN AWAY!!!! They do not need alot of powerm but the decks power is not enough.

Quality Speakers!

2008 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just completed the front speaker replacement in my 2008 Ford F-150 with these. The stock speakers were muddy and dull, while these 5X7's from Helix are bright and have amazing bass response for a speaker of this size. I can't wait to get the rear speakers installed! The Crutchfield folks are great and included the necessary adapters to plug the speakers into the stock wiring harness, so the only thing you have to do for these to fit is to bend the side mounting tabs forward a bit.

Pros: Bright sound with good bass response for a smaller speaker.

Cons: None

Bad A$$ Speakers!

2003 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced some blown JL Audio speakers in my truck with these. They are amazing. The only problem is that they are so crisp, clear and hard hitting that the other speakers in my truck sound terrible now. I'll correct the problem with more of these speakers. Get yours today!

Pros: Amazing sound. Best I've heard

Cons: The adjustable tweeter isn't very adjustable.

Excellent Sound

Written by: Noah from NY on January 9, 2013

Needed to add bass in my old 280E. Thought about a sub but ended up with the HELIX Esprit E57X and am very happy I did. Strong bass response, excellent mids and a nice high with the silk tweeter. These are terrific speakers with wide range and sharp, clear sound.

Pros: Excellent frequency response range and clear, crisp sound. Moderate price. NOT made in China!

Cons: Packaging is a bit light for the massive magnets and heavy weight of these speakers, which arrived with bent mounting tabs after the cardboard box failed to keep them 100% secure during shipping. But the tabs were easy to bend back and there was no other damage.

Product Research

Woofer Materials: Each woofer cone is made of woven fiberglass and has a durable rubber surround. This woven fiberglass material is very light and extremely stiff, minimizing cone flex and resulting in faster transients and finer detail.

Tweeters: Each speaker has a 3/4" silk dome tweeter with a neodymium motor structure. The tweeters also rotate and can be tilted (up to approximately 25°) so you can direct them toward the listening positions.

Magnet cover: The E 57X are shipped with a rubber magnet cover to protect the speaker. If the cover is removed the depth changes slightly:

  • Top Mount Depth: 2.25"
  • Bottom Mount Depth: 2.625"

Size Classification Note: Helix (Audiotec Fischer) calls this speaker a 5x7, but it also fits many 6x8 installation applications. Please refer to the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm fit in your vehicle.
