Helix Esprit E5X

High fidelity with excellent imaging

Helix's German engineering pedigree really shows up in their Esprit Series speakers, which offer big technological bang for the buck. The E5X 5-1/4" speakers use an adjustable 3/4" silk dome tweeter that you can tilt and rotate to improve imaging in cars with less than optimal tweeter placement. Each speaker features a rigid 5-1/4" woven fiberglass cone that delivers tight midrange and bass reproduction, while the durable rubber surround helps this speaker provide exceptional sound for years to come.

Built for power

A tough stamped-steel basket houses each woofer and tweeter, providing the stability needed to maintain accurate reproduction when the music's turned up loud. The Esprit E5X speakers will sound great powered by an aftermarket car stereo, but an outboard amplifier will give you the best audio quality. Grilles are included.

Product Highlights:

  • 5-1/4" 2-way speakers (pair)
  • woven fiberglass woofer cone with rubber surround
  • 3/4" silk dome tweeter (rotates 360° and tilts up to 25°)
  • power range: 10-40 watts RMS (120 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 65-22,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 90 dB
  • top-mount depth: 2-1/16"
  • grilles included
  • warranty: 2 years
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Interesting. Order another pair of speakers that was incompatible with jeep. Supervisor jumped in and substituted these instead as they matched the polks up front. Sent them overnight! I like them. Their mistake and they treated me right! Excellent!

Pros: Smooth as silk. People ask me where the speakers are!

Cons: ? Grills fussy, but so am I.

I cannot believe the difference these speakers have over the factory. The sound is sooooo much richer and it is now a joy to drive my Jeep. All my other vehicles are now staying in the driveway.

Pros: Rich sound, ease of installation and remarkable support.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The quality of the speaker, the packaging, and the installation instructions are all excellent. The performance of the speakers are also very good, I was pleasently superizeed by the clarity of the sound coming from them only powered using just a head unit.

Pros: Installation in the front lower kick panels was a direct fit with no modifications at all. Install took 15 minutes per speaker including kick panel removal, re-insatll, and vacuuming the carpet after words.

Cons: Non-these speakers are great!

really not as good as i thought

Well I turned these speakers up to twenty five , run through an alpine CDA 9856 18 watt r m s head unit and they sounded bad. Not bad as in good but muffled. I guess they need more power cause the 18 watts is not enough. My stock 20 watt toyota speakers sounded better

Pros: Sound good at low volume

Cons: They need a amp

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Well Marie at crutch field , told me good choice and also suggested the dyna max sound barrier for added depth and bass. along with some aluminum joint tape and a roller to smooth out the barrier. Glad i did, makes installation easy. these speakers at a 20 decibel level sound great with the windows shut , but , going down the highway ,not so much with the windows open at 20 db's. I have not really turned them up louder than that because "Marie " @ crutch Field suggested at least 40 + hours of break in time which i have not quite done yet But even at this level they sound tight , with deep bass and clear vocals and instruments.bass drum sound like a bass drum And I can clearly hear the right speaker as clear as the left while sitting behind the wheel driving. And thats a sign of good speakers, when you can distinguish one from the other while sitting closer to one than the other. Can't wait to turn them up to really see. I am running them through an 18 watt alpine deck . The dyna mat has not been through our north east winter yet so i will let ya'll know how they fair come next summer.

Pros: clear deep tight bass , they thump

Cons: none yet

Product Research

Woofer Materials: Each woofer cone is made of woven fiberglass and has a durable rubber surround. This woven fiberglass material is very light and extremely stiff, minimizing cone flex and resulting in faster transients and finer detail.

Magnet cover: The E 5X are shipped with a rubber magnet cover to protect the speaker. If the cover is removed the depth changes slightly:

  • Top Mount Depth: 2.042"
  • Bottom Mount Depth: 2.167"

Tweeters: Each speaker has a 3/4" silk dome tweeter with a neodymium motor structure. The tweeters also rotate and can be tilted (up to approximately 25°) so you can direct them toward the listening positions.
