Esprit Series E62C 6-3/4

High fidelity with excellent imaging

Helix's German engineering pedigree really shows up in their Esprit Series speakers, which offer big technological bang for the buck. The E62C 6-3/4" component speakers use a separate 1" silk dome tweeter that you can mount higher in your vehicle for optimal imaging and stereo separation. Each woofer features a rigid 6-3/4" woven fiberglass cone that delivers tight midrange and bass reproduction, while the durable rubber surround helps this speaker provide exceptional sound for years to come.

Built for power

A tough stamped-steel basket houses each woofer, providing the stability needed to maintain accurate reproduction when the music's turned up loud, and the external crossovers keep the right frequencies going to the right drivers so you can rock out the bass without damaging your tweeters. We recommend that you power the Esprit E62C speakers with an outboard amplifier to give you the best audio quality. Grilles are included.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Product Highlights:

Why install component speakers?

A component speaker system gives you the best possible performance from your car audio system. A system consists of separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, each designed to cover one specific range of frequencies. As separate components, the woofer can move freely to deliver more powerful performance, while the tweeter can be custom-mounted in a better spot up closer to your ears, revealing a whole new world of detail. Separate crossovers are far superior to the simple filters wired into full-range speakers, so the components work together for smoother, more focused sound.

2012 Volkswagen Touareg
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace the stock speakers in a 2012 VW Touareg. Two sets of these were installed along with a Match pp52dsp. The difference in sound quality was unbelievable.

Pros: Great sound quality, nice and tight bass tones, crisp and clear highs, and I can really enjoy listening to my music now.

Cons: Nothing that I can think of.

follow up from the northeast. got a break in the weather and finally got these installed. these sound awesome.replaced a set of infinity reference 6030cs with these and the difference is amazing. well worth the xtra coin. a lesson learned here about buying budget speakers DONT!!

Pros: smooth non fatiguing highs and clean mid range and the distinction between vocals and instruments is clear, not like other sets ive had where sounds get all put together and just produce Noise well worth all the head scratchin i went through :)

Cons: Big everything was big lol mid range speakers were big, tweeters were big, crossovers were big. but i knew this going into it and was up to the challenge of sticking all these big things into my tiny tC.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

they look awesome, but for the last 2 weeks its been too cold and crappy out to take my car apart to install them. but a heads up to anyone figuring just to swap out your 6 1/2's these wont fit in the brackets that you bought or were givin with your previous speakers. the cut out needs to be 5 5/8s not the 5 1/8 that the brackets you have are. no big deal though just go get some 3/4 mdf scrib (trace) the bracket you have and cut out the right size hole, there is also some ppl who sell mdf rings who claim the will cut whatever you need

Pros: Crutchfield advisers checkout wouldn't add adapters to cart for N/C so I asked the one I was talking with if he could no problems

Cons: none yet except the weather in the northeast

I currently utilize two sets of these comps. I push them using a Zed Audio Leviathan. The woven glass mid and silk dome tweeter reproduce some of the best music I have ever heard. We have a high end shop here in town that had a display with Hybrid Audio, Digital Design, Arc Audio and a few other top end items. The only one I like better than the helix is the Hybrid Audio Legata 5's that cost 3 times as much as the Helix. I don't believe I have ever heard a better sounding comp set for the price. Two thumbs up from this owner!!

Pros: Tweeters not overly bright. maintain equal levels of lows/mid and highs regardless of volume easy to blend wonderful sound reproduction plays all types of music very well they look nice too Handle more power than they are rated for.

Cons: Crossover is a little large

Product Research

Woofer: The E 62C component system includes woofers with woven fiberglass cones and durable rubber surrounds. This woven fiberglass material is very light and extremely stiff, minimizing cone flex and resulting in faster transients and finer detail.

Magnet cover: The woofers are shipped with a rubber magnet cover to protect the speaker. If the cover is removed the depth changes slightly:

  • Top Mount Depth: 2.462"
  • Bottom Mount Depth: 2.623"

Size Classification Note: Crutchfield has traditionally referred to this woofer size as a 6-3/4", while some manufacturers, including Helix (Audiotec Fischer), call it a 6-1/2". Please refer to the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm fit in your vehicle.

Tweeter: The system uses 1" silk dome tweeters with neodymium motor structures. The tweeters can be flush mounted, surface mounted, or surface mounted at an angle using the included brackets. Once mounted, the tweeters swivel (up to approximately 25°) so you can direct them toward the listening positions.

Tweeter Dimensions:

Frame Width Frame Length Cutout Diameter Mounting Height Mounting Depth
Flush Mount 2.160" 2.160" 1.835" 0.40" 1.0"
Surface Mount 1.865" 1.865" N/A 1.115" 0.5" (Screw Depth)
Angled Surface Mount 1.840" 1.830" N/A 1.335" 0.5" (Screw Depth)

Crossover: The crossovers are separate components with tweeter protection built-in. The inputs and outputs are screw terminals and will accommodate bare wire or spade connectors up to 0.3" wide. The tweeter output level is adjustable by attaching the positive tweeter lead to one of three screw terminals on the crossover, +2dB, 0dB, or -2dB. No crossover frequency or slope information was provided by the manufacturer.

Crossover Dimensions:

  • Length: 3.375"
  • Height: 1.50"
  • Width: 1.175"
