Our take on the Helix EPC5 Easy Plug Cable

Here's a way to upgrade your factory stereo without cutting any wires or losing features like your steering wheel audio controls. First you plug a Helix vehicle-specific adapter harness into your car's audio system. Then, this 5-meter (16.4') EPC5 cable allows you to connect a Helix Blue B ONE, B TWO, or B FOUR amplifier directly into your factory system, adding the impact and detail that only an outboard amp can provide.

You can also use this EPC5 cable to connect a Helix P-DSP signal processor to your system, giving you extensive control over the overall sound. Warranty: 60 days.

Note: You must identify your vehicle to order a Helix EPC5 Plug and Play cable online if you want the correct vehicle-specific harness. Or, if you prefer, call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to make sure you get the harness that works in your vehicle.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I cant rate this product as to its function but can tell you it is confusing to what it exactly is. Is it an extension cable if you have a yacht for a vehicle and the regular cables wont reach or is it for the subwoofer? Anyway, it confused the Crutchfield sales rep as well, so he told me I needed it. I did not. The Helix match systems come with each cable needed other than the vehicle specific harness that the DSP needs to adapt into the OEM system for plug n play and no wire cutting. Of course, Crutchfield's customer support is great and sent me a Return Authorization to send the cable back. The German written instructions for all the Helix products really could use an English as a first language translator to help clarify the vagueness out of the instructions.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Paid for a professional install. This harness along with the vehicle specific harness was used to hook up a Helix 4 channel amp. Sound quality was terrible. Had to change to a high/low convertor then use RCA cables to the amp which greatly improved the sound. Had to "eat" the cost of this as everything was imbedded in the floor and would have cost extra to remove. Sadly, Crutchfield technical support was lacking. Technician said I ordered wrong harness, but product information disputed his statement.

Pros: Easy hookup to factory head unit

Cons: Engine noise, poor sound quality.

I returned my cable is it was not compatible with the bose sound system on my 2012 mazda 3 -- I checked at the amplifier under the passengers side front seat and at the back of the stereo, none of the connections were the same. If you have a non bose system, I would think it would plug into the back of the stereo. But if you have a bose system, just return it. [ CLINTON  Jun 17, 2014 ]
I have a 00 Eldorado with Bose, is there any way to get aftermarket head unit and subs without rewiring everything. [ Lemarr  Feb 26, 2014 ]
Thanks for your question Mitchell. Please contact an Advisor by phone or chat to discuss adding speakers to your vehicle. They will be able to help figure out what adapters and/or wiring you will need to accomplish this. [ Jeff  Dec 16, 2013 ]  Staff
