Tuning filters

You can set the MA40FX's crossover filters in a wide variety of ways to fine-tune the sound: activate high-pass filtering to clean the low bass out of your full-range speakers, adjust the low-pass filter to get the best performance from your subs, or even use bandpass filtering to accommodate midrange drivers. A bass boost lets you add some extra oomph to your mix if you want.

Match Amplifiers: Match amplifiers by Audiotec Fischer are made in Germany, and are designed for high quality upgrades for your vehicle's OEM sound system. With the complex construction of today's vehicles, adding a Match amplifier can make a significant upgrade to your vehicle's sound system without having to change the OEM head unit or speakers. These compact full-range Class D amplifiers are packed with features, such as high- and low-pass filters, and variable bass boost, to help you fine tune your system. The amps feature an extruded aluminum chassis that dissipate heat so the amp runs cool.

Four-channel Amplifier: The Match MA 40FX is a 4-channel amplifier that can be configured for 4, 3, or 2 channel operation. In 4-channel mode, you can power 4 full-range speakers; in 3-channel mode, you can run two full-range speakers and a subwoofer; or bridge both pairs of speakers for driving two subwoofers.

Power Output: The amplifier delivers 75 watts RMS x 4 channels at 4 ohms, or 140 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms. Bridging the amplifier will get you 280 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms.

Protection Circuitry: The MA 40FX offers different protection circuits which will shut off the amplifier in case of the following conditions: overheating, over- and under-voltage, short-circuit on the speakers, or false connection.

Diagnostics Error Protection: The amp's high-level input is equipped with the Diagnostics Error Protection circuit, which makes sure the car radio detects the amplifier as a speaker. This avoids creating errors in the vehicle's diagnostic circuit which might deactivate functions of the factory stereo.

Controls

Four Channels: The MA 40FX amplifier is divided into two sections: Channels 1/2 and Channels 3/4. Each pair of channels has independent controls for input level, bass boost, and crossover.

Input Level: The amplifier will accept either line-level or speaker-level input signals. Rotary controls are provided to match the input sensitivity of the individual channels to the output voltage of the connected head unit. The input sensitivity range for the low-level inputs is 0.4 to 6 volts, while the range for the high-level inputs is 1 to 15 volts.

Crossover: The built-in, independent crossovers have 3-way switches to select the crossover operation as high-pass, full-range, or low-pass. The high-pass crossover point is continuously variable from 10 Hz to 4000 Hz. The low-pass crossover point is continuously variable from 50 Hz to 4000 Hz. The crossovers can be defeated to allow full range operation.

Bass Boost: The bass boost circuits are centered at 45 Hz and continuously variable from 0 dB to +12 dB.

Connections

Power: The MA 40FX is equipped with set-screw terminals for power and ground. These terminals will accept up to 4-gauge wire, and are tightened/loosened with the supplied 4mm Allen wrench. (Match recommends a minimum of 8-gauge wire for this amplifier.)

Fuse: The amp is protected by two installed 25-amp ATO fuses. It is recommended that a 50-amp fuse be installed on the power wire, 12" or less from the battery. If you use a pre-packaged amp wiring kit with a fuse that has a different value than 50 amps, you should replace the fuse with a 50-amp fuse.

Remote: The amp's remote turn-on features a set-screw terminal that will accept up to 10-gauge wire, and is tightened/loosened with the supplied 2mm Allen wrench. If using the amp's speaker-level inputs, no remote turn-on wire is required. The amplifier will automatically switch on when it detects a signal from the head unit through the speaker-level input.

Speaker Outputs: The amp has four pairs of set-screw speaker output terminals which accept up to 12-gauge wire. They can be tightened/loosened with the supplied 2mm Allen wrench.

Line Input: You can connect the head unit to the amplifier via a line-level input. Two pairs of stereo RCA jacks are provided on the left side of the amp.

Speaker Level Input: If you are connecting a factory head unit, or an aftermarket unit without preamp outputs, you can use the included speaker-level input harness to connect the head unit. Splice the speaker wires from the head unit onto the 8 wires of the harness and plug it into the Molex connector on the amp.

Customer Q&A

Q
hi i have two pair of alpine spr 69 (100 rms) and alpine spr 50c (100 rms).can this amplifire fully drive these speakers and get best performace? thanks

A
A general rule of thumb when selecting an amp for your speakers is to find one that produces between 75-125% of your speakers RMS power handling in order to get the best sound and performance. Applying that to your setup, since both your Alpine speakers are rated up to 100 watts RMS, you'd want an amp that produces between 75-125 watts RMS x 4 to get the best sound quality. The Match MA40X falls nicely within that range, so it would be good option to drive your Alpine Type R speakers. I hope that helps! My bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159
