German quality

What better for your German-engineered car than a German-engineered sound system? MATCH's handcrafted speaker design uses the latest technology and materials. To minimize distortion, the woofer features a special magnet structure that efficiently dissipates heat and promotes extreme accuracy. The dome tweeter's coated silk construction brings a natural smoothness to the high frequencies.

MATCH has also given you plenty of leeway in the power department as these components handle up to 60 watts RMS. You'll be knocked out by the sound of these speakers even if you're powering them with your original BMW radio, but an external amp will take their performance to a completely new level.

2010 BMW 1 Series
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Severely disappointed. I would have expected better from Rockford Fosgate. Had one blow w/in 6 mos. The other sounds lousy. I will be replacing these and the Matches I put in the rear deck as soon as I'm able.

Pros: They fit the 3 studs on the inside of the door panel with no modification.

Cons: They sound lousy. Poor quality.

Great Upgrade

2011 BMW 3 Series
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in the rear deck and sound is much better even with stock system driving it. I chose to install these to get a little more mid and high range in the rear even though recommended for front door. The mount pattern doesn't exactly match the rear so had to cut the opening and tap new holes...but not a great fit for the location. Also the tweeter cage (the protective dome not the tweeter itself) touches the underside of the stock grill so obviously not designed for this location. Gave it 4 stars because splicing in bullet connectors between the rear deck and rear window is a pain, really wish they included stock connector adapters.

No plug and play

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these from Crutchfield assuming they would provide everything I needed to make this an easy install for a do it youselfer. I was wrong. The speakers fit the door brackets, but after talking to a tech for half an hour figuring out how to wire these in to my system. I gave up. The problem is on most BMWs they have a wiring harness, so you should be able to unplug the old speakers and plug the new ones in. These new speakers which supposedly are made for BMW don't come with this harness and Crutchfield does not have one either.

Pros: Seem like the might sound great.

Cons: Does not come with wiring harness for BMW.

Crutchfield response on May 11, 2015 As it turns out, the custom fit only applies to the physical mounting of the speaker - it's designed and built to fit perfectly in the BMW's factory location. In order to connect them, you have to cut off the factory harness and use the included bullet connectors to connect the car's speaker wires included with the speakers. We're updating our presentation to properly set this expectation.

Plug and play speaker upgrade

2008 BMW M3
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is pretty much a plug and play speaker installation. The speaker is a perfect factory replacement for BMW E90 front door speakers. No drilling or modifications needed. Mounts perfectly to the factory bolts. You have to cut the original factory plugs and strip the speaker wires to fit into the supplied bullet plugs. Instructions do not identify what is positive and negative on the factory wiring but excellent customer support is from Crutchfield is available. I installed these to replace my base stereo (not factory HK) front door speakers in my E90 3 series. After the installation I was initially disappointed. With the engine off, the speakers sounded a little better but not as much as I hoped. However when I drove the car I realized the great improvement over the factory speakers. Highs were much more defined and crisp. Stereo imaging was excellent. Voices and midrange sharp and clear. Perhaps the speakers need to be broken in a bit. Overall and excellent value that has improved the sound quality in my car. I would buy again and will purchase the Match MS4X for my rear speakers.

Pros: Plug and play installation. Perfect fit with no drilling or modifications. Efficient speakers. Good quality, Reasonable price. Cost effective improvement over factory sound system.

Cons: None

Features

Wiring: While these speakers mount easily in place of the factory midrange using the included thumb nuts, the factory wiring does not plug directly into the new speakers. The factory speaker plug must be removed and the included bullet connectors crimped onto the factory wires, then plugged into the included speaker wire. The other end of the included wire has spade terminals, which are attached to the screw terminals on the MS 4X-BMW.1. There is no provision for reconnecting the factory tweeters.

Crossovers: The included speaker wire has in-line 6 dB/octave crossovers.
