The Terk Tower antenna is the affordable and easy way to improve both short and long-range radio reception. The Tower serves as two antennas in one. Mounted vertically, it becomes an omnidirectional antenna for great reception from all directions. Place it flat, and the Tower becomes a directional antenna that can be positioned to zero in on weak or distant stations.

Performance of the Tower is enhanced by its unique AirCoil™ technology that electrically isolates the AM and FM elements from each other for increased selectivity with dramatically reduced static and noise.

The antenna comes with everything necessary for installation, including a non-skid, scratch-proof pedestal, and a universal slip-on connector and matching adapters so you can use the Tower with almost every receiver, tuner or compact music system.

The Terk Tower uses active amplification to boost FM signals (+10 dB minimum). AM gain, fixed at +15 dB, is achieved through a passive (non-amplified) antenna element.

Features

Overview: The Terk AM/FM Tower is a high-performance antenna that is ideal for anyone who wants superior short and long-range radio reception. The Tower is designed to be an omnidirectional or directional antenna. When placed vertically, it equally receives signals from all different directions. When placed flat, the antenna becomes directional and can be pointed at hard-to-get stations for better reception.

Built-in Amplifier: The Tower's built-in amplifier strengthens weak and distant signals giving you greater control over the quality of your reception. The Tower uses active amplification to boost FM signals (+10 dB minimum). AM gain, fixed at +15 dB, is achieved through a passive (non-amplified) antenna element.

Air Coil Technology: The Air Coil technology isolates the AM and FM elements from each other, for increased radio reception and minimized static and noise.

Installation: The antenna comes with everything necessary for installation, including a non-skid, scratch-proof pedestal, and a universal slip-on connector and matching adapter so you can use the Tower with almost every receiver, tuner or compact music system.

Q
Does it come with an adapter compatible with a bose Soundwave radio. I live in and island with poor fm reception?
audiophile  Feb 04, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings Elliott. Thank you for your question. We would need to look at your Bose radio as they had many different versions. I know this antenna will not cone with a Bose adapter. I also know that a lot of Bose Wave radios had a more proprietary antenna input jack. We did not carry those Bose antennas but referred our callers to Bose direct for that proprietary antenna. You can reach Bose by calling 800-367-4008.

Q
Would this antenna work on a NAD receiver 7400?
tony  Sep 21, 2023
1 answer
A
Based on pictures that I've reviewed of the connections available on the NAD 7400, it appears that the receiver has standard AM wire spring connections and FM coaxial connection. This means we can use the Terk antenna with your NAD.

Q
Do I need a conversion connector to connect to a Bose wave music system that has a external antenna jack which takes a 75 ohm 3.5 mm male connector ?
bobsh  Apr 23, 2023
1 answer
A
This antenna does not have the proper connection to work with a Bose Wave Music System. At this time, we do not have any antennas that will work with it and recommend contacting Bose's support by calling 800-367-4008 to get an antenna that will work.

Q
First, I'm hoping Crutchfield staff, rather than customers, can answer some questions. I know... Fat Chance. Does Crutchfield have any good FM antennae with 75ohm COAX connectors? I've seen mostly pics of RCA connectors. Secondly, does Crutchfield carry any of the brands that are made in the USA. Thirdly, which antennae have better "selectivity" for cities with crowded signals, as opposed to higher sensitivity for far-away signals. It would help if sensitivity and selectivity specs were shown.
jerry  Jan 25, 2022
1 answer
A
Most of the antennas we carry for home use are utilizing the 75-ohm "F-type" connector. We don't currently have AM/FM home antennas that are made in the USA, unfortunately. This antenna would be your best bet: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_209FM4000/Terk-FM-Edge.html?tp=1914 It is an FM antenna only, and while we don't have sensitivity or selectivity specs for the unit, the adjustable gain can help in areas with multiple strong stations.

I found the Powered TERKNTower from Crutchfield, which has an adjustable signal gain control, to be of great help in improving the FM signals in my marginal, hilly area. Would highly recommend.
thomas g  Jul 26, 2021

I purchased the TERK antenna because I had/have the same problem. The antenna did not help me at all and I returned it for a refund. I gave up on getting a signal in my home and went to all internet reception. So far all the stations I want are available over the internet.
daryl  Jul 26, 2021

Purchasing this antenna were I am located improved my reception tremendously. For me it was a great investment...

Hi. will this fit onto the SONY STR-DH190 stereo amplifier? That device has a different connector than others. Thank you

It will if your amp has a 75 ohm place to plug it in. My guess is you do. Pretty good antenna by the way, at least for my needs.

Sorry, I have no idea, but it worked for my Cambridge receiver. I'd call Crutchfield support, they'd know for sure!
timothy  May 06, 2020
A
I do not see why not. It has am/fm connections for the back of your receiver. I have an Sangean HD Radio which is my receiver. It helps with reception, but I wouldn't say it is quality sound. I live in SoCal, so it depends on which stations you are trying to listen to. I listen to the radio not for quality music but just to listen.
mark  May 06, 2020
A
It should work well. I have a friend who is impressed with all the stations I can get and he can't. He only lives 10 mile away. That being said I am at a bit of a higher elevation. It works for me and I at the price paid I believe it is a worthwhile purchase.

Only for local stations ... 25 miles max ...

I attached it to the antenna input. Didn't work worth a darn. Might have been poor reception or just where I live (out in the boonies). Or maybe it needed another buster. Anyway I finally tossed it.

Q
It seems there are mixed reviews. Is it fair to say that it works better if placed in a particular area relative to walls, enclosures, etc. or can it be mounted on top of the receiver inside a cabinet?

Terk Tower works satisfactorily in our area, not known for strong FM signals. We moved the antenna around into several positions, until we found a spot where it meets our needs. It has been sitting there for several months without deterioration of receptions.

I expected this to improve my reception but it is no better than the stock antenna that came with the stereo. I don't live in a rural area and I have tried this in multiple locations with little to no improvement. I would waste your money.
christopher j  Jun 30, 2014
A
Placed mine on top of the speaker next tp a wall. Provided some improvement to a weak signal Placement is dependent on the signal source and is not a solution if there is no signal Performance did vary by source, one signal did gain some modest improvement another did not. Regarding the standard T antenna, I did not want to run that antenna up the wall and across the ceiling and that was the optima solution but, again, performance may vary by source. Overall, likely to be a hit or miss solution with modest performance gain, if signals are weak.
michael  Jun 30, 2014
A
Regardless of where I placed this device, it did not improve my FM reception. I live about 20 miles south of DC. The house is situated in a depression so most FM signals go way over its head, so to speak. The Tower may work better for you if you are closer the the signal source.
