Features
Stealth-installed Remote Detector: The Beltronics STi-R is a
custom-installed digital radar, laser, and safety detector. The radar/laser
receiver is designed to be installed under the hood of the vehicle, with a
dash-mounted control panel, concealed LED display, and an amplified speaker that
is loud enough that it can be hidden behind the dash. The system is tied
together by a hideaway interface. Professional installation is highly
recommended.
TotalShield Technology: The STi-R is equipped with
TotalShield technology, which makes the unit 100% undetectable to any radar
detector detectors. Not only is the detector immune to VG-2 radar detector
detectors (RDD), it can not be detected by the newer RDD called Spectre.
Detection Capability: The
STi-R includes full X, K, SuperWide Ka, and Safety Warning System
radar capability, laser detection, and digital signal processing
for superior range and fewer false alarms. You can program the unit to enable
all bands at once or you can select one or more bands to turn off (once you have
determined there are no traffic radar units using the disabled bands in your
area). If Ka SuperWide is turned off, you can turn on or off each Ka segment (Ka
1 through Ka 10).
Pop Mode Detection: The STi-R
includes protection against "Pop Mode" radar, a relatively new feature
for radar gun manufacturers. It works by transmitting an extremely short burst,
within the allocated band, to identify speeding vehicles in traffic. Once the
target is identified, or "popped", the gun is then turned to its
normal operating mode to provide a vehicle tracking history.
Radar/Laser Receiver: The system's Radar/Laser receiver is
equipped with a dual LNA Microwave receiver, a Superheterodyne, Varactor-tuned
VCO, a Scanning Frequency Discriminator, and Digital Signal Processing. For
Laser detection, the unit features a quantum limited video receiver with 5
optical Laser sensors. Typically, the receiver is mounted under the bumper, or
inside the front grille of the vehicle. For best performance, it should be
mounted horizontally, with a clear "view" of the road. Dimensions: W=3.675",
H=1.207", D=4.125"
Control Module: The STi-R's control module is designed to be
mounted within easy reach of the driver's seat. It can be surface-mounted using
the two-sided adhesive strip. The control module has a power-on LED, a Power
button, Volume/Mute, and Sensitivity button. To program the unit, you can press
the Sensitivity and the Volume/Mute buttons together. Dimensions: W=1.95",
H=0.651", D=0.563"
LED Display: The
STi-R's display is designed to be surface-mounted or installed in a cutout in
the dash. A red lens is included to conceal the display module in the dash. The
display consists of 280 individual LEDs to provide an intuitive ultra-bright
display of signal strength and text messages. It will show "Highway," "AutoScan,"
or "City NoX", or a single letter, as its power-on indication. During an alert,
the display will indicate the radar or laser band, and a precise bar graph of
signal strength. Dimensions: W=1.958", H=0.656", D=0.703"
Optional Concealed Display: A single LED can be installed to
alert you to radar or laser detection. To install the supplied LED, a 1/4" hole
is required for the LED clip.
Amplified Speaker: The STi-R comes with an amplified speaker
for the audible and voice alerts. It can be mounted in plain view, or can be
mounted behind the dash or another out-of-sight location. Installation requires
connecting the speaker to a switched +12V power source and ground, plus the
audio signal cable needs to be plugged into the system interface. Dimensions
(w/o brackets): W=2.264", H=2.274", D=2.147"
Voice Alerts: In addition to visual alerts, the unit
features digital voice announcements. If you prefer, you can turn off the voice
alerts and have the unit provide audible tone alerts.
AutoMute: The patented AutoMute feature will reduce the
volume to a lower level after a radar encounter at the selected volume. This
keeps you informed without the annoyance of a continuous full-volume alert.
AutoMute can be turned off, if desired. You can silence the audio for a single
specific signal by briefly pressing the Volume/Mute button on the control panel.
After the radar encounter has passed, the mute will automatically reset and will
alert you to the next encounter.
Brightness Modes: The STi-R has
three display brightness settings, plus an Automatic Mode and Dark Mode. In the
program mode, you can cycle through the Brightness Modes: Auto, Maximum, Medium, Minimum, and Dark.
When Automatic is selected, the brightness is controlled by a sensor that
measures the ambient light in the vehicle. In the Dark Mode, the display will be
totally dark, and only audible alerts are used when the STi-R detects
signals.
Programming:
There are 7 user-selectable options to allow you to customize the STi-R to your
own preferences. The programmable categories include Pilot (Power-on Indicator),
Voice Alerts, Power-on Sequence, Signal Strength Meter, AutoMute, Brightness, and Radar/Laser Bands.
Pilot
(Power-on Indicator):
The Power-on indicator can be a full word ("Highway") or a single
letter ("H").
Power-on
Sequence: When the STi-R
is first turned on, the standard power-on sequence includes a series of displays
followed by a brief X-band alert. If any bands have been disabled, a double
X-band alert and corresponding message will alert you that one or more bands
have been turned off. If you desire a quicker power-on sequence, you can switch
to "Fast Power-On" which provides only a single X-band alert if all
bands are enabled, and a double X-band alert and a corresponding message if any
bands have been turned off.
Signal
Strength Meter: The
STi-R's standard bar-graph signal strength meter only displays information on a
single radar signal. If there are multiple signals present, the detector's
internal computer determines which is the most important threat to show on the
bar-graph meter.
Threat
Display: The Threat
Display option is an advanced display for experienced detector users. The Threat
Display simultaneously tracks multiple radar signals and their relative signal
strength. It displays what band each signal is and a numerical reading of its
signal strength.
Tech Display:
The Tech Display option
is for experienced detector users. It displays the band and the actual numeric
frequency of the radar signal being received.
Vehicle Voltage: When the vehicle's battery voltage falls
below 10.5 volts or rises above 16.5 volts, the detector will give you a low
voltage or high voltage warning and sound an audible alert.
City Mode
Sensitivity: The
detector's City Mode significantly reduces X-band sensitivity to reduce
annoyance from X-band intrusion alarms and motion sensors. In addition to the
Standard City Mode, you can further reduce X-band sensitivity by selecting
"City Mode/Low X". If you are absolutely certain there are no X-band
traffic radar units in the area, you can select "City Mode/No X" and
the detector will not respond to any X-band signals.
Safety Warning System:
The
Safety Warning System, or SWS, uses a modified K-band radar signal to alert you
of upcoming highway construction, road hazards, weather-related hazards, travel
and convenience information and emergency/slow-moving vehicles. The SWS system
has 64 possible text messages that can be displayed on the STi-R.
