LCD Screen Technology: Liquid
Crystal Televisions work by trapping a liquid crystal solution between two
sheets of polarized glass. When an electric current is passed through the liquid
crystals, each crystal either blocks or allows light to pass through it based on
the broadcast information. For clear, crisp color that rivals traditional CRT
displays, a thin film transistor, known as a TFT is employed. Even in harsh
light conditions such as fluorescent light or direct sunlight, this low
reflection coating ensures an optimal contrast ratio for a crisp, vivid picture.
This design also allows the TV to be much lighter and much more shallow than
conventional CRT TVs. Unlike
a standard CRT tube, the LCD does not use an electron beam, so the LCD display
is not susceptible to distortion from a nearby magnet (ex: speaker).
Viewing Angle: This
unit features a 140-degree horizontal and 125-degree vertical viewing angle.
Removable Stand: The
LTN-1565 comes with a stylish removable stand. Once placed on the stand, the TV
can be tilted backward 10 degrees for best viewing angle. A proprietary wall mount
bracket (item # 305WMTL17H) is available. Note: The
TV has no mounting holes on the back panel, so wall brackets with VESA standard
screw patterns will not work.
TV Tuner: The
LTN-1565 has a
built-in, 181-channel NTSC standard TV tuner.
HDTV-ready Component Input: The
LTN-1565 has dual component video inputs; one that allows you to connect an
optional DTV (digital television) receiver, and another for connecting a source
with component video outputs, such as a DVD player. The Component 2 (DTV) input
is capable of receiving 1080i, 720p and 480p video signals. The Component 2
(DVD) input is capable of receiving 480i video signals.
Display Resolution: The
LTN-1565
has a native resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels with a built-in image scaler. This
allows the TV to accept inputs from a variety of digital and analog A/V or PC
sources. The TV can accept 1080i, 720p, 480i and 480p input signals, and it will
display them as 768p images.
PC-Capable: This unit has a
separate PC input that allows you to use it as a high-resolution computer
monitor. The supplied 15-pin D-Sub cable can connect to the monitor outputs of
most personal computers, and the mini-jack audio input provides a connection to
the PC's sound card. You can manually or automatically configure the TV to the
computer's video signal.
PC PIP: The PC
Picture-In-Picture feature allows you to watch a video source (TV, VCR, DVD)
while working on your PC. The video is displayed in a small window superimposed
over the PC Video screen. You can change the size and position of the video
signal as desired.
Aspect Ratio: The aspect ratio
of this TV/Monitor is 4:3. You can display the image as it is (Normal Mode), or
set the picture to 16:9 (Wide Mode), or magnify the image to fill the screen
(Zoom).
Picture Freeze: This feature
allows you to freeze an image on the screen from a video source or PC. You can
only activate this feature from the remote control.
Automatic Picture Settings: The
LTN-1565 offers 3 automatic picture settings that are preset at the factory, or
you can recall your personalized picture settings in the Custom Mode. The
automatic settings include Dynamic (for watching in a brightly lit room),
Standard (with standard picture settings), and Movie (best for watching movies).
In the Custom mode, you can manually adjust Contrast, Brightness, Sharpness,
Color and Tint, plus choose a Color Tone setting from Warm 2, Warm 1, Normal,
Cool 1 and Cool 2.
Automatic Sound Settings: This
unit has 4 automatic sound settings, plus a custom setting to recall your
personalized bass/treble settings. The 4 automatic settings include: Standard,
Music, Movie and Speech.
Virtual Dolby Surround: The
LTN-1565
has built-in Virtual Dolby Surround which helps create a 3D sound environment
without the addition of external speakers.
Low-Noise Amplifier: If
you are operating the TV in a weak signal area, you can sometimes improve
reception by boosting the incoming signal with the unit's low noise amplifier.
V-Chip Parental Control: This
feature allows you to limit the shows that can be viewed based on the TV
Parental Guidelines (FV, D, L, S, V) and a movie's MPAA rating (G, PG, PG-13, R,
NC-17, X). The parental controls are protected by a 4-digit password.
On-screen Menu Language:
The on-screen menu language can be set to English, Spanish, French or
Portuguese.
Sleep Timer:
This TV can be set to turn itself off after a preset amount of time (from 10-120
minutes).
Remote Control (00302A): The
supplied IR wireless remote only controls this TV. In addition to basic TV
functions (volume, channel, etc.), the remote can activate Picture Freeze, PC PIP (including location
and size adjustments), V-Chip Guidelines, Picture and Sound
Mode selections and Aspect Ratio adjustments.
Inputs
and Outputs Notes
Component Video Inputs: There
are two component video inputs (Y, Pb, Pr) labeled Component 1(DVD) and
Component 2 (DTV). The Component 1 (DVD) input can receive 480i video signals
only. The Component 2 (DTV)
input is a wide bandwidth input, capable of receiving 1080i, 720p and 480p video
signals. Each of the component video inputs also have stereo audio RCA jacks.
Composite and S-Video Input: The
unit has an input with stereo audio RCA jacks and both composite
and S-Video jacks. This can be used for a VCR, video game or satellite receiver without
component video outputs.
PC Input: The TV/Monitor has
video and audio inputs for a personal computer. The input includes a 15-pin
D-Sub input (cable supplied) and a stereo minijack audio input.
Headphone Jack:
There is a stereo mini-jack on the back of the TV. When headphones are plugged
into this jack, the speakers in the TV are muted.
Recessed Inputs: The PC and
Component 2 (DTV) inputs are vertically positioned, and located inside a
recessed area of the back panel. This allows you to mount the TV/Monitor flush
against a wall, and provides better cable management. The Component 1 (DVD) and VCR
inputs, and Headphone output are not recessed,
but flush with the curved back panel.
