LCD Screen Technology:
Liquid Crystal Televisions work by trapping a liquid crystal solution
between two sheets of polarized glass. When an electric current is passed
through the liquid crystals, each crystal either blocks or allows light to pass
through it based on the broadcast information. For clear, crisp color that
rivals traditional CRT displays, a thin film transistor, known as a TFT is
employed. Even in harsh light conditions such as fluorescent light or direct
sunlight, this low reflection coating ensures an optimal contrast ratio for a
crisp, vivid picture. This design also allows the TV to be much lighter and much
more shallow than conventional CRT TVs.
Magnetic Field: Unlike a
standard CRT tube, the LCD does not use an electron beam, so the display is not
susceptible to distortion from a nearby magnet (ex: speaker).
DNIe: Samsung's exclusive DNIe
(Digital Natural Image engine) technology dramatically improves the picture by
enhancing the contrast and detail, while optimizing the color using enhanced
white balance and 3D noise reduction. The effect of the DNIe can be shown on the
screen in the DNIe Demo Mode--the screen shows the improved image on the left
next to the original image on the right. In the menu, you can select "DNIe On"
or "DNIe Off."
Flat Screen: The flat
screen delivers images that are virtually distortion free and helps eliminate
screen glare.
Viewing Angle: This unit
features a 170-degree horizontal/170-degree vertical viewing angle.
Display Resolution: The
LT-P468W has a display resolution of 1920 x 1080. The unit will accept 1080i,
720p, 480i and 480p signals, and has a built-in image "scaler" to handle a variety
of digital and analog audio/video sources. The "scaler" upconverts the signals from all video sources to
match the LCD panel's native 1080p resolution.
High Contrast Ratio: The
contrast ratio of this unit is 800:1, which gives you brilliant brightness and
contrast for superior picture and detail from both PC and TV images.
PC-Capable: This unit has a
15-pin D-Sub (RGB) input that allows you to use it as a high-resolution computer
monitor. The TV can be set to automatically adjust to the video signals
received. The Setup menu allows you to adjust the screen quality and position.
No cables are supplied for connecting the TV to a PC.
Plug & Play: When the TV is
first plugged in, the TV uses automation and simple menus to select the source
(broadcast or cable), set the clock, and map the active channels. Once the
available channels are stored on the TV, you can manually add or delete
channels.
Digital Noise Reduction:
If the broadcast signal received by
your TV is weak, you can activate the Digital Noise Reduction feature to help
reduce any static and ghosting that may appear on the screen.
LNA (Low Noise Amplifier): The
TV features a low noise amplifier (LNA) to boost the strength of the incoming
signal. The LNA can be turned on in weak-signal areas, and turned off when
signals are strong.
Fine-Tuning Channels: Once you
have selected a channel, you can use fine tuning to manually adjust the channel
for optimal reception. Once the channel has been tuned for best reception, you
can store the setting in memory.
Input Source Names: You can
assign a name for the component connected to each of the inputs. For example,
the Component 1 input can be named "DVD", the Component 2 input can be named
"Cable STB", the DVI input as "HD STB", etc. When input naming is completed, you
will no longer have to remember which component is connected to each input when
selecting a source to watch.
Dual TV Tuners: The LT-P468W
has dual built-in, 181-channel NTSC standard TV tuners with a single antenna
input.
Picture-In-Picture: The two
tuners eliminate the need for a second video source (such as a VCR) for
picture-in-picture. You can select standard PIP operation (with a small frame
inside the full screen), or one of two split-screen modes. During standard PIP
operation, the PIP frame can be moved to any corner on the screen. In both
modes, you can alternate sound between the main program and the secondary
program. Using the Swap function, you can instantly switch the main program with
the secondary program. If you want to use an external source for
picture-in-picture, you can choose from any of the TV inputs, including the PC
input.
Note: When using the PC
input during picture-in-picture operation, the PC input must de
displayed in the main window.
Screen Sizes: You can select
one of the following screen sizes:
- Wide: sets the picture to
16:9 wide mode
- Panorama: used for the
wide aspect ratio of a panoramic picture
- Zoom 1: expands the
picture with a 4:3 aspect ratio
- Zoom 2: expands the Zoom 1
format picture

100 Hz, 300 Hz, 1 kHz, 3 kHz, and 10 kHz
Sound Options: Depending on the
particular program being broadcast, you can listen to stereo, mono, or a
Separate Audio Program (SAP)--usually a foreign language translation.
Automatic Volume Control: The
Automatic Volume Control can reduce the wide differences in volume levels
between broadcasters, providing a consistent volume level when changing
channels. It can be turned on/off in the menu.
SRS "TruSurround XT": When
selected, the SRS "TruSurround XT" option emphasizes midrange and bass sounds,
and provides a simulated surround sound experience with only two speakers. In
the TruSurround XT mode, you can select "3D Mono", "Stereo" or "Off."
Built-in JBL Speakers: The
LT-P468W features built-in high-performance JBL speakers, mounted along the
sides of the front panel. The speakers are powered by a 15 watts x 2 amplifier.
Subwoofer Output: The TV
provides an output for connecting a powered subwoofer to emphasize the bass. In
the menu, you can activate the subwoofer output, adjust the subwoofer volume
(0-100), and set the cutoff frequency (50Hz-200Hz).
My Color Control (MCC): My Color Control allows you to adjust colors to your preference,
by adjusting Blue, Green and Pink tones using the predefined settings (Blue,
Green, Pink, Standard and Custom) without affecting the other colors in the
picture. The MCC's Detail Control let you choose
individual settings for Pink, Green, and Blue (adjustments from 0 to 100).
Dynamic Contrast:
Dynamic Contrast automatically detects the visual signal and adjusts to create
optimum contrast.
Brightness Sensor: The
front-panel brightness sensor adjusts the screen brightness automatically
depending on the surrounding lighting conditions.

allows you to freeze an image on the screen from a video source or PC. This
feature can only be activated from the remote control.
V-Chip Parental Control:
This feature allows you to limit the shows that can be viewed based on
the TV Parental Guidelines and a movie's MPAA rating. After setting Parental
Control "On", you must enter the password to view blocked programs.
On-screen Menu Language: The
on-screen menu language can be set to English, Spanish, or French, or
Portuguese.
On/Off Timer: The TV can be set
to turn on and/or off at a preset time. After the TV clock has been set, you can
set a time for the TV to turn on each day and a time for the TV to turn off each
day. The on and off timers are independent.
