To produce bass, you need a sub, an enclosure, and an amplifier, and it can be little tricky to match them all up. A powered sub eliminates all the hassle, as the manufacturer designs the enclosure to house the sub and amp together. This all-in-one solution is especially useful in smaller vehicles, where there's no room to mount a separate amp, or in any vehicle where you need every bit of cargo space. Powered subs range from small, flat boxes that fit under your seat to larger boxes that go in your trunk. Need an easy way to add some low-end muscle into your music? Kenwood's KSC-WD250 powered subwoofer combines a 10" speaker and a 100-watt amplifier into a compact box that won't take up a lot of space. The box's ported configuration maximizes the subwoofer's output, and the amp's efficient design ensures solid power output without taxing your car's electrical system. A built-in low-pass filter adjusts the bass to fit your vehicle, while the phase switch ensures that the sub is working with the speakers in your car, not against them. This versatile subwoofer will accept a wide range of input signals, so you can hook it up in almost any system. I used this sub in a system I basically designed for many types of music. I put this in in addition to alpine type-r fiber channels all around. When I turn on a rap song or something with alot of bass, this sub can shake my whole car yet it still sounds very clear. It is an awesome sub for the money and extremely easy to hook up. Just remember, you still need RCA cables to hook this up if you wanna hook it to your deck's pre-amp, because the cables that come with this are meant to be tied into the front and rear speakers connections. The amp has a seperate terminal for hooking up your deck's pre-amp. Make sure you get some high quality cables; I got some gold plated shielded RCA's, very thick and I think I made the right decision. This is a great sub, especially and the remote makes it perfect for people who don't want to have it on all the time. 3 out of 3 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Installation wasn't bad as I used the RCA inputs from my Pioneer head unit. Very decent bass from 1 10" with only a 100 watt amp. My only problem was with the included wiring. Kenwood tried to make it easy by having an enormous spool of wiring hooked to the side that included the power, L/R speaker inputs, remote turn on and ground. I'd highly prefer if it was like a normal amp where you run your wiring to the amp. I chose to run a 12 gauge from the batt to the amp and leave the wire coiled behind the unit. The reason why is that it would be a pain to run the inlcluded wire with fuses attached through the firewall into the engine compartment. Another thing, power wires and ground wires were very small! Not the way I prefer to wire an amp. Decent unit, but let me deal with the wiring Kenwood! 3 out of 3 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
