Features
Dual 2-ohm Voice Coils: This
woofer features dual 2-ohm voice coils that offer flexibility in wiring. When
the voice coils are wired in parallel with each other, the woofer presents a
1-ohm mono load. When the voice coils are wired in series with each other, the
woofer presents a 4-ohm mono load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a
different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 2-ohm load.
Woofer:
The aluminum parabolic woofer cone is lightweight
and extremely strong, giving the woofer very high power handling, low distortion,
and superior bass response.
High
Excursion Thermo-Rubber Surround:
The use of a "tall/skinny" high excursion thermo-rubber surround allows for
linear cone travel on a high excursion driver without reducing cone area.
Parabolic Triangular Cone Geometry
Support System: By bonding an aluminum parabolic dust cap of equivalent
size to the cone body, a balanced triangular structure is created. This system
reduces piston flex and eliminates cone distortion.
Mirror Image Symmetrical Spiders: Dual-opposing spiders
offer superior mechanical stability during high excursions, while maintaining
linear travel.
Spider Support Ring: This
integrated ring increases the bonding surface area between the voice coil former
and spider, establishing a stronger joint. The result is increased mechanical
power handling under high power/high excursion situations.
Anodized Aluminum Voice Coil
Former: Aluminum voice coil formers offer superior heat dissipation over
other commonly used materials. The hard-anodized finish increases the former
strength. These two factors combine to improve the overall power handling
characteristics of the subwoofer.
Precision Cast Aluminum Alloy
Basket: A two-piece "basket in a bucket" design adds rigidity and eliminates
multiple acoustic resonances. Additionally, the large aluminum mass helps reduce
voice coil former temperature and increase power handling.
Double Stacked Magnet Motor
Assembly: The stacked magnet assembly is used to create a powerful linear
motor with increased excursion capability for superior bass output.
Slot-Loaded Spring
Terminals:
The proprietary, slot-loaded spring terminals will accept pin connectors and up
to 8-gauge bare wire.
Concealing Ring: Once the
subwoofer is mounted, the metal concealing ring can be installed to hide the mounting
screws, giving the subwoofer a finished look.
Enclosure Compatibility
Recommended Sealed Box
Volume: Rockford Fosgate recommends mounting this woofer in a sealed
enclosure with an internal volume of between 0.5 cu/ft. and 1.0 cu/ft. with an
ideal volume of 0.75 cu/ft.
Recommended Vented Enclosures: Rockford Fosgate recommends mounting
the woofer in a vented enclosure with an internal volume of between 1.0 cu/ft.
and 2.0 cu/ft. with an ideal volume of 1.5 cu/ft. One 4" port is recommended at
the following lengths for each size enclosure:
