Rockford Fosgate

Our take on the Rockford Fosgate T110D2

Got enough juice? Get an amp for your new sub The fanatics at Rockford Fosgate are always testing the limits of bass — and that's how Power Series Stage 1 subwoofers were born. Ideally suited for use with Power Series amps, everything about these innovative woofers screams "hard-hitting sound."

The aluminum parabolic cone has a high-excursion rubber surround for the kind of travel that ensures max bass. The massive 102 oz. double-stacked magnet structure and oversized 3" copper-clad aluminum voice coils handle just about all the power you can throw at them. Spider venting keeps the woofer cool even when you run it long and hard.

The T110D2 10" subwoofer can blast away in either sealed or vented enclosures. The dual 2-ohm design lets you wire for high output or a multiple woofer setup.

Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible. Most car amplifiers are stable down to 2 ohms in standard mode, or 4 ohms in bridged operation.

Enclosure Compatibility

Features

Dual 2-ohm Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 2-ohm voice coils that offer flexibility in wiring. When the voice coils are wired in parallel with each other, the woofer presents a 1-ohm mono load. When the voice coils are wired in series with each other, the woofer presents a 4-ohm mono load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 2-ohm load.

Woofer: The aluminum parabolic woofer cone is lightweight and extremely strong, giving the woofer very high power handling, low distortion, and superior bass response.

High Excursion Thermo-Rubber Surround: The use of a "tall/skinny" high excursion thermo-rubber surround allows for linear cone travel on a high excursion driver without reducing cone area.

Parabolic Triangular Cone Geometry Support System: By bonding an aluminum parabolic dust cap of equivalent size to the cone body, a balanced triangular structure is created. This system reduces piston flex and eliminates cone distortion.

Mirror Image Symmetrical Spiders: Dual-opposing spiders offer superior mechanical stability during high excursions, while maintaining linear travel.

Spider Support Ring: This integrated ring increases the bonding surface area between the voice coil former and spider, establishing a stronger joint. The result is increased mechanical power handling under high power/high excursion situations.

Anodized Aluminum Voice Coil Former: Aluminum voice coil formers offer superior heat dissipation over other commonly used materials. The hard-anodized finish increases the former strength. These two factors combine to improve the overall power handling characteristics of the subwoofer.

Precision Cast Aluminum Alloy Basket: A two-piece "basket in a bucket" design adds rigidity and eliminates multiple acoustic resonances. Additionally, the large aluminum mass helps reduce voice coil former temperature and increase power handling.

Double Stacked Magnet Motor Assembly: The stacked magnet assembly is used to create a powerful linear motor with increased excursion capability for superior bass output.

Slot-Loaded Spring Terminals: The proprietary, slot-loaded spring terminals will accept pin connectors and up to 8-gauge bare wire.

Concealing Ring: Once the subwoofer is mounted, the metal concealing ring can be installed to hide the mounting screws, giving the subwoofer a finished look.

Enclosure Compatibility

Recommended Sealed Box Volume: Rockford Fosgate recommends mounting this woofer in a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of between 0.5 cu/ft. and 1.0 cu/ft. with an ideal volume of 0.75 cu/ft.

Recommended Vented Enclosures: Rockford Fosgate recommends mounting the woofer in a vented enclosure with an internal volume of between 1.0 cu/ft. and 2.0 cu/ft. with an ideal volume of 1.5 cu/ft. One 4" port is recommended at the following lengths for each size enclosure:

Box Size Box Volume Port Length
Minimum 1.0 cu/ft. 18"
Recommended 1.5 cu/ft. 11"
Maximum 2.0 cu/ft. 7.5"

Great Sub

Written By Dion, PA on Thursday, January 28, 2010

I recently purchased this sub for my G35 Sedan mounted in a custom sealed enclosure and hooked up to an Infiniti Reference 1600a. I sat for a pretty long time trying to decide if 1 would be enough for such a small sub, but let me tell you it is. With the setting well below half, everything in the car shakes. When i pop the trunk, people cant believe all that bass comes from something so small. You can set it to produce a fine balance with any style of music or crank it up so that pressure changes in the car make your eyes bug and your ears pop...this thing handles it no problem. I strongly recommend this product.

SOUNDS BIGGER THEN 10's

Written By john, Greenville Texas on Friday, April 25, 2008

I put two of the T110D2 in my corica in 2cu.ft. per woofer and ported them at 35hz and ran them off a Rockfordfosgate RF-X7 which puts out a clean 1736 watts and it is loud .It hits you in the gut ,I like the sound of 10's because they are not so booming .It is just tight bass when it hits.

Written By jeff, conover,nc on Saturday, March 17, 2007

just got this sub two days ago to replace a 3 year old or so mtx sub.
it sounds better than the mtx by far.
i have it on my home stereo breaking it in and at first i just had it wired up and it was sitting in the box it shipped in and it sounded great like that!
had a couple of old 10 inch q logic boxes here but sub wouldnt fit in itso i ordered a new box and it is mounted in reverse mode..basket outside of box and woofer firing into the box.
im very impressed just playing at low levels on home stereo will be blown away when i put it in my jeep.

Lots of Bass

Written By Eugene, Mountain Home, ID on Friday, March 02, 2007

I just put one of these into my SUV, with a sealed fiberglass box, and it sounds amazing. I have the RF P550.2 amp bridged running it, and it puts out more bass than the two 12's I recently had. I would recommend this sub to anyone who wants alot of bass, without having to buy two subs and a bigger and more expensive amp. Great work Rockford.

The type of bass you get from your component subwoofer doesn't depend on the woofer alone. You'll need a strong, tightly constructed enclosure for optimum subwoofer performance.
