Features
Overview: This SwitchLinc dimmer switch lets you directly or
remotely control the brightness of incandescent light bulbs, low-voltage halogen
(track lights), and other low-voltage lights with magnetic or dimmable
electronic transformers. It will not control fluorescent light fixtures or other
non-dimmable appliances, including compact fluorescent bulbs.
INSTEON System: This line of lighting and appliance control
utilizes INSTEON technology, using existing power wires as well as wireless
radio frequency (RF) to send home automation control signals to INSTEON devices
throughout the house. You must have at least two INSTEON Access point
couplers/signal repeaters (item number 7262443P) installed to control the system
in a typical residence (2-phase wiring).
Operation: This in-wall dimmer switch has a wide paddle-style switch
for easy operation. You can tap the paddle once to turn the light on or off; press and hold the top or bottom paddle to brighten
or dim the lights. There are 32 brightness levels
and the light's On-level, brightness when first turned on, is programmable.
You can also program this switch to control other INSTEON
devices.
Ramp Rate: You can program the speed at which the light turns on or
off; known as the ramp rate. For example, you may want the light in the
stairwell to turn on instantly so you can see where you're walking.
Alternatively, you may want the light in the master bathroom to ramp up in a
soft, gentle fashion so you're not blinded in the middle of the night. The ramp
rate is adjustable between 0.1 second and 9 seconds if programmed locally. The
ramp rate can be extended up to 9 minutes if programmed remotely.
Multi-Way Switches: This
2476DH switch can be used in multi-way circuits (more than one switch
controlling a single light); each existing switch is replaced by a 2476DH dimmer
switch.
LED: The dimmer switch has a line of nine white LEDs to indicate the
status of the switch.
Installation: The 2476DH in-wall dimmer can be installed into a
single-gang switch box. It has a 4-wire connection: Load (Red), Line (Black),
Neutral (White), and Ground (bare copper). An almond colored Decora wall plate will be
needed if you are replacing a standard toggle switch. Tools required for
installing this dimmer include:
- Standard (slotted) screwdriver
- Phillips screwdriver
- Wire cutter/stripper
- Voltage tester (to identify wires inside the junction box)
Maximum Load: The 2476DH dimmer switch can handle a maximum load
of 1000 watts.
X10 Ready: You can program a primary X10 address into the 2476DH and
control it with an existing X10 system.
