Display Features
Motorized 8.3" Touch Panel: The Farenheit TID-831NRB
has a motorized, retractable 8.3" TFT LCD wide screen display with touch
panel controls and LED backlighting. The display provides a video monitor for
watching DVDs (when parked). The screen has a resolution of 800 x 480 and 384,000
total pixels.
Display Angles: You can adjust the display to one of three
angles for best visibility. After the viewing angle has been set, the unit will
return the display to that angle each time it's opened.
Parking Brake Detection: To prevent displaying video while
the vehicle is in motion, the pink wire in the supplied harness must be connected
to the vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. While the vehicle is in motion
(parking brake off), you can still view all of the other displays and menus.
Audio Section
Audio Settings: The Farenheit TID-831NRB offers the following
audio adjustments:
- Preset EQ: Pop, Classic, Rock, Jazz,
and User
- Bass and Treble: bass and treble are
independently adjustable in the EQ User mode (+/- 9)
- X-Bass: on/off; emphasizes low
frequencies
- Loudness: on/off; compensates for low
volume by increasing low and high tones
5-Channel Preamp Output: The included external amplifier is
connected to the TID-831NRB's front and rear preamp outputs using the included
RCA patch cord, or a more powerful amp can be added if you prefer. There is also
a single subwoofer preamp output; the subwoofer output level can be adjusted
relative to the main volume. The subwoofer crossover point is adjustable; choose
80Hz, 120Hz, or 160Hz.
Tuner Functions
AM/FM Tuner: The Farenheit TID-831NRB is equipped with a
built-in AM/FM tuner.
Tuner Features: The TID-831NRB offers seek, manual tuning, and 18 FM and
12 AM presets (6 in each band, FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1, and AM2).
Disc/SD-card Playback
Disc Compatibility: The TID-831NRB can play back the following
types of discs (including VCD, MP3, MP4, and DivX):
- CD: CD-Audio, CD-R, CD-RW
- DVD: DVD-Video, DVD+R, DVD+RW,
DVD-R, DVD-RW
Parental Lock: Like home DVD players, you can set password
protected viewing restrictions. There are 8 levels of parental lock protected by
a 4-digit password.
Mounting: For proper disc playback you must install the unit
within 30° of horizontal. A second Euro-DIN mounting sleeve is included that extends
the unit approximately 1" from the dash, reducing the required mounting depth.
The mounting dimensions using the extension sleeve are:
- Mounting Depth: 5.837"
- Nose Depth: 2.776"
SD Card: The front panel slot will accept SD Cards up to 16
GB and play MP3, MP4, DivX, and Xvid files.
USB/iPod Connectivity
USB Port: The head unit features a front panel USB mini B
port that allows you to connect and play a USB flash drive, up to 16 GB, loaded
with MP3 and MP4 files. A USB type A adapter is included.
iPod Compatible: The optional Farenheit IC-2 iPod connector
cable (item number
026IC2, sold separately) allows the TID-831NRB to connect to
your iPod via a dedicated rear-panel input.
AV Connections
Front and Rear A/V Inputs: The Farenheit TID-831NRB is equipped
with A/V input terminals on the front and rear of the unit to enable connection of
external source components. The rear composite video/stereo RCA inputs are ideal
for permanent installations, while the front A/V mini-jack (3.5mm) input will come
in handy for quick connection of a portable audio/visual source. A mini-jack to RCA
adapter is included.
Video Output: A single composite video output allows connection
of a rear monitor.
Camera Input: The Camera Input consists of a Composite video
RCA jack for connecting an optional rear-view camera. When an optional rearview
camera is connected to this unit, the rear view image is displayed on the screen
when your vehicle is placed in reverse gear (orange wire of harness must be
connected to reverse light wire of vehicle).
Navigation Ready: While compatible, the optional NaviBox
required to convert the TID-831NRB into a navigation head unit is not currently
available from Crutchfield.
Bluetooth/Remote Control
Built-In Bluetooth: The TID-831NRB features built-in Bluetooth
Technology. Bluetooth wireless technology enables voice and data to be sent via a
short distance digital radio link (2.4GHz) up to approximately 33 feet. With
Bluetooth built-in, you can wirelessly connect your Bluetooth capable mobile
phone to listen to calls through your car's audio system. Bluetooth profile A2DP
is also supported for music streaming.
Note: At this time no Bluetooth
compatibility list is available for the TID-831NRB,
but Farenheit advertizes that most Bluetooth V2.0
enabled phones are compatible.
Wireless Remote Control: In addition to the unit's touch-panel
and hard-key controls, the TID-831NRB comes with an infrared (IR) wireless remote
control for full function of the multimedia player. The remote is powered by a
single CR2025 Lithium 3V battery (included).
