Why would I need an iPod® adapter?

An iPod adapter allows you to connect your iPod to your car stereo, then access your playlists with your stereo's controls - a great idea for several reasons. Take full advantage of the latest iPod technology in your car with JVC's KS-U30 iPod audio/video cable. This cable allows you to connect your iPod or iPhone directly to your compatible JVC receiver for high-speed audio and video transfer, while allowing you to surf through your iPod's songs and categories using your receiver's controls. Once connected, you'll be able to view your iPod's album art and video content directly on your receiver's display.

The KS-U30 cable works with all 2008-up JVC receivers that have both A/V and USB inputs. The cable also charges your iPod or iPhone while it's connected. Warranty: 1 year.

Features

Overview: The JVC KS-U30 USB Audio and Video Cable For iPod allows you to playback and control audio and video from your iPod on select JVC multimedia head units. The cable features a proprietary Apple iPod dock connector on one end and a male composite video and male stereo audio RCA connectors on other end along with a USB type-A connector.

JVC Head Unit Compatibility: The JVC KS-U30 is compatible with 2008-up JVC multimedia receivers with A/V input (minijack/composite) and USB port that are iPod/iPhone compatible.

Note:  JVC car head units designed before 2009 are not compatible with iPhone or iPhone 3G/3GS

iPod Compatibility: The JVC USB Audio/Video Cable For iPod (KSU-30) is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model features when connected to a compatible JVC head unit (as of March 2010):

Charging: The KS-U30 cable will also charge your iPod when connected to a compatible JVC head unit that is powered on.

The harness was advertised wrong. If you go to motionx website most jvc receivers cannot control it. You still have to use the iPhone and it just displays the map. The cord is too short and only comes about 10" out if the dash.
Pros:
Album art and control music on radio.
Cons:
Is not plug and play. Lots of settings changing to make it work. Cable to short.

I have read many of the reviews on this product before and after I made the purchase. I personally haven't had any of the products that people had listed which I guess I got lucky. It's nice to have. The iPod video playback is awesome, it works well with my iPhone, and it's just a great adaptor to have.

I purchased the JVC KS-U30 iPod® A/V cable to use with the JVC Arsenal KW-ADV793. The cable is easy to install, you just plug it in through the USB cable that comes with the reciever and plug the RCA cables into the Video in terminal on the back of the unit. You have full control of you Ipod or Iphone through the reciever. The video quality is very good and the on screen menu is easy to use. If you want to watch movies off your Iphone you should purchase this cable.
