Bring your tunes outdoors and into the light with the Etón Rukus. Not only is it a great wireless portable speaker system, but it's also solar-powered. So the longer it's out soaking up the sun, the longer it plays. The Rukus sports a black and white E Ink® text display that won't wash out in bright sunlight.

Fast charging, long playback

The Rukus can completely recharge its built-in battery in about six hours, depending on available sunlight. Can't wait that long? Its AC adapter will do the job twice as fast (and keep the Rukus powered up and playing at the same time). Speaking of power, the Rukus features a USB charging port so you can recharge your smartphone or other portable — even when the Rukus is running on battery power.

Simple Bluetooth connectivity

It's easy to pair the Rukus with just about any compatible Bluetooth device. So whether your music's on a smartphone, PDA, tablet, laptop or portable player, you can stream audio straight to the system. And remember — you're not limited just to the songs stored on your device. You can enjoy audio from any app or Internet source you can access. MOG, Pandora® Internet radio, Spotify, YouTube — if you can hear it on your player, you'll hear it through this speaker system.

Features

Overview: The Eton Rukus Solar is a portable Bluetooth sound system with a built-in rechargeable battery, so you can play your tunes all day long. Take this self-powered sound system out to the park, to a tailgate, on vacation, or use it around the house. The battery can be recharged using the unit's high efficiency solar panel or included AC power adapter.

Full-Range Stereo Speakers: The Eton Rukus Solar employs two full-range speakers for crystal clear stereo sound. A bass boost function enhances bass output of the system.

Built-In Bluetooth: Its built-in Bluetooth A2DP connectivity allows you to wirelessly play music from almost any Bluetooth-enabled smart phone, tablet or computer. With quick one-touch pairing, the Rukus Solar can instantly connect to most Bluetooth-enabled devices (not compatible with all Bluetooth devices).

E-Ink Display: The E-Ink display uses minimal power, yet provides great visibility in direct sunlight and also has a 180-degree viewing angle. The display can be switched to a white or black background.

Rechargeable Battery: The Eton Rukus Solar features an internal rechargeable Lithium-ion battery (7.4V/1500mA) for up to 8 hours of music playback time. The battery charges fully in 6 hours using the units' built-in high efficiency monocrystal solar panel, or 4 hours using the included AC power adapter. The maximize battery life, charge the unit through the AC adapter for 12 hours prior to first use.

Auto Energy Saving: If the unit is idle for 10 minutes (no sound output or operation), the unit will turn off automatically.

USB Charger: It also has a USB type-A output (5V/500mA) to charge most smartphones and other mobile devices.

Aux Input: The Eton Rukus Solar is fitted with a 3.5mm auxiliary input to connect a non-Bluetooth audio device that features an audio or headphone output.

Portable: It's lightweight and has an integrated handle making it easy to carry around. The integrated storage net securely protects your device during transport.

Even after reading the good reviews I was really surprised at the strength and clarity of the sound. It is tough to make a 20 year old guy happy but I did just that. My son was thrilled will this item. I think I want one!

Sounds good the only thing every time I power it on I have to plug the adaptor. Is that normal??? Otherwise a lot of good features and I like the solar getting power from the SUN. Color green is a good color too.

Pros:

Long battery life battery. Good sound.

Cons:

To power on need the adaptor always :(:(:(

I bought this as a gift for my wife. We both are enjoying it very well. It's working perfectly; very easy to link with. We also like the solar recharging, but also use the AC charger when using it indoors. We really like listening to music on our boat without worrying we will run down the boat's battery leaving us; no worries about being stranded on the lake!!

Pros:

Wifi works well. Love the solar recharging.

Cons:

None I've experienced.
