Easy to setup, easy to connect to your network, easy to use and great sound from a small package... I'm even able to take it ouside and listed to it in my garage, a separate building from my house, so range is better than I expected. I'm able to get my local radio station, as well as those around the world...

    Great little radio

Written By Randy, Savannah, GA on Thursday, August 04, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great little radio. The set up was pretty easy, although entering a long WEP password was a bit tedious. The sound is good and I love having my SiriusXM, Slacker, and last.fm stations available without any additional hook ups. I've had the radio for about a month and play it pretty much all day with no problems.

    Problems with Setup

Written By Anonymous, Covington LA on Tuesday, August 02, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As previous reviews have noted, it is not simple to set up. It recognized my wifi connection no problem but would not make the connection to the squeezebox server. I tried for an hour, even hooked up with direct ethernet cable, no luck. Checked my internet connection on my laptop, no problem. Finally I gave up and it was too late to call technical support. Came back the next day and it hooked right up! Since then I noticed that it will occasionally drop the server connection and have difficulty hooking back up - no reason provided. Aside from that it is great. The menu took a little getting used to. Sound quality is excellent.

    Best on the Market

Written By Doug D, Rochester,NY on Thursday, July 07, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great unit and works great. Sound is good , volume could be louder, at highest level not real load. Good bass and my only drawback is that operating instructions are terrible and this player has many good features that are not explained or told how to operate? Remote has all features you need but again no operating manual on what buttons do what. Only small drawback on remote is buttons too close to each other. As said this is the best on market to date.

Finally radio for the signal challenged

Written By John F, Natick, MA on Tuesday, June 28, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was a purchase to replace my older table-top radio that got fried in a lightning storm and decided to try something to improve my signal challenged location and glad I did. My home office is in the basement and had poor reception even with lots of Boston stations and the hassles of special antennas was a pain. The Squeezebox was just what I needed and now I have so many choices for local and world-wide stations all via the internet. Other than resolving my reception issues the next best thing is the online remote control on mysqueezbox.com. I can control the radio from across the room (or across the world for that matter) and see the stations/favorites etc via a Web Remote Control which is far superior than doing it on the radio itself. I do have to say I'm not so impressed with the sound quality but I have Bose and Cambridge Soundworks table-radios and this unit doesn't compare but it was half the price.

All in all I'm happy with this purchase and will probably be happier when I connect the unit to home system and just use more as a tuner and remote.

    Love it.

Written By Scott, Salem, IL on Wednesday, June 22, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I originally purchased the Squeezebox Radio, I liked it so much I decided I needed to have the Boom for the stereo. The speakers on these Logitech Squeezeboxes are wonderful for their size.

Pros: It was easy to set up, pretty much plug and play except for signing up for various services. The speakers sound great. It comes with a remote. Well constructed, the controls feel solid. Large selection of installable apps. Adjustable display.

Cons: It could use a handle to make it easier to move around. How can you have a boom box without a handle? The remote is quite small. Many of the apps require subscriptions. It does not have the nice graphic display like the Radio, just scrolling text.

I live in an area with essentially no radio reception. This radio gives me unlimited service since almost all radio stations stream their shows. Set up was no big deal. Sounds a LOT better than I expected.

Great sound (but add a Subwoofer!)

Written By Eml182, Philadelphia, PA on Sunday, May 15, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Product is a great complement to the Squeezebox family. I would definitely add a
subwoofer to this thing as it really picks up the lows and allows the unit to
focus on the mid-high range (100 HZ is the cutoff). In all honesty, if you had
two of these in a large room with one sycned to a sub and the other sycned to a
dummy sub, you would get a heck of a system.

    Squeezebox Boom totally worth it

Written By Uncle Bone, Great Falls, VA on Friday, May 13, 2011

Very cool radio! A little difficult to set up, but if I can do it, anyone can. Can listen
to radio from all over the world...hundreds of stations. I also listen to Sirius and
everything on my iTunes. If you're on the fence, like I was, I say 'go for it'. You
can probably return it if you are not satisfied. Easy to move from one room to
another, even outdoors on my deck. Built solid and decent quality sound for a
    box this size.

    Logitech® Squeezebox™ Boom

Written By MarkG, Overland Park, KS on Thursday, March 10, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent product. They have really thought this out. With one knob and a
button I can usually find about anything I'd like to listen to in under a minute, in
bed, in the dark. Heavy enough that pushing a preset doesn't tip the radio.
    Very good audio quality.

    Great Radio

This is the 4th Squeezebox Boom I've purchased for myself and friends, and every day
I'm amazed at the performance of this product. The only problem I've experienced is
with initially setting up the WiFi. After than the radio works flawlessly. I wish there was
another row for presets. Six buttons isn't enough. Also, I wonder if Logitech has
considered incorporating voice command using the remote?

    Is Boom a bust?

Written By Hank, Johnson City, TN on Thursday, February 10, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The folks at Logictech sure skimped on the instructions. The totally inadequate instructions included in the Quick Start Guide are ridiculous. It does not even begin to cover what is needed to set it up when you already have an existing wireless network. I guess they wanted to skimp on the cost to include decent instructions.

Next, shortly after I got it up, it suddenly quit. Turns out they automatically downloaded a new software version without my knowledge and it had fatal errors in it. I had to spend an hour waiting for tech support to learn this and to get then to install the older software version. Pretty sloppy in their Software QC.

Next they advertise this a plug it in and use it. Wrong.

Next, they say you can listen to your favorite internet radio stations. WRONG. The station has to broadcast in a format supported by the Boom. None of our favorites does.

Finally, my Boom stops playing frequently. This is not a wireless problem as I have plugged it directly into my Ethernet line and it still stops. Yes, it is easy to restart it by pressing one button twice, but why should I? Seems it should be able to restart itself.

All this being said, we do enjoy it and the good sound we get from it. I would like to add another to my home, but not for this price. It is worth half of that.

This radio is amazing. The one thing that made it more amazing was that Crutchfield

    Great purchase

Written By CraigM, Michigan on Sunday, February 06, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Every once in a while you make a purchase that really pleases you. This is one
of those for me. I was skeptical of the sound out of this little package, but
it really sounds very good. True audiophiles might take issue with it, but I
think it's great for the money and what it does. I don't get much choice in
traditional radio stations where I live, but that's irrelevant now. I can
listen to any type of music, talk, sports, anything I want. Found out there are
TWO stations dedicated to Pink Floyd 24/7! Amazing.

Setup was a piece of cake. I think I was listening to music within 10 minutes
of unpacking. I signed up for free Pandora service and am building
individualized "stations" just for me. It's great.

The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 was that I have to keep going
through the setup when I start it (about 5 button pushes). That may be operator
failure, and I haven't called the great people at Crutchfield to check. I'll
do that soon. I would recommend this to anyone and will consider getting
another for the second floor of my house. Terrific product!

    Love My Squeezebox Boom!

Written By John C, Powell, OH on Tuesday, February 01, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I spent over 20 hours researching the latest "traditional" boom boxes available and didn't find much that is a quality, well-made device that has all of these features:

    1. It's compact
    2. Has great sound
    3. Has an auxiliary input for MP3 players, NOT an Ipod docking station
    4. Does NOT have a cassette player (don't need or want it)
    5. Has a digit clock (alarm was optional, but wanted to display the time)
    6. Has a remote

I hadn't even considered an internet radio since I didn't think the technology would be advanced or stable enough yet. Then I found the Logitech Squeezebox Boom while searching online and I was intrigued by the number of positive reviews it had received. After satisfying my questions about features and options through further research, I made the plunge for Christmas 2010. So glad I did! It met or exceeded all of my requirements and expectations.

The only feature it doesn't have that concerned me at first, is a built-in AM/FM receiver in case I lose wi-fi for any length of time. I came to realize, though, that many MP3 players have built-in FM receivers, so in a pinch I could still use this thru the aux input. Haven't had to do that yet.

    I love my Squeezebox Boom!
