About the Phoenix Gold RSd12d
Streamlined, no-nonsense looks and durable construction set Phoenix Gold Radial Sd subwoofers apart from the crowd. Their combination of high-power handling and big bass output will give your system an edge you can hear and feel.
The RSd12d 12" subwoofer's powder-coated steel basket provides a firm foundation that resists sound-distorting vibrations. A fat butyl rubber surround allows plenty of cone movement, tempered by a special-design spider that keeps cone travel tightly on track. The large dustcap with its prominent Sd logo enhances the rigidity of the aluminum-plated cone.
The RSd12d features two voice coils, for extra flexibility in configuring your system to get the most out of your amp.

Features
Enclosure Compatibility
Dual 4-ohm Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 4-ohm voice coils that offer flexibility in wiring. When the voice coils are wired in parallel with each other, the woofer presents a 2-ohm mono load. When the voice coils are wired in series with each other, the woofer presents an 8-ohm mono load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 4-ohm load.
Aluminum-plated IMPP Cone: The aluminum-plated injection-molded polypropylene woofer cone is very light and extremely rigid, giving you accurate bass and low distortion.
Butyl Rubber Surround: The butyl rubber surround is very rugged and it resists moisture and UV rays in the vehicle environment.
Powder-coated Steel Basket: The powder-coated steel basket dampens unwanted resonance for lower distortion.
Flat Linear Roll Spider: The flat linear roll spider reduces distortion and provides maximum voice coil centering.
Removable Magnet Cover: The magnet cover can be removed when additional mounting clearance is required. The measurements in the Crutchfield database are taken without the magnet cover. With the magnet cover installed, the woofer has the following dimensions:
- Magnet Diameter: 6.744"
- Depth as top: 5.705"
Spring Posts: The two sets of heavy-duty spring posts will accept pin connectors and bare wire.
Enclosure Types: For each application, Phoenix Gold recommends two different types of enclosures. Depending on the kind of bass you want, you can choose one of the following:
- SQ (Sound Quality): The Sound Quality enclosure provides deeper, tighter, and more musical bass.
- SPL: The SPL enclosure provides maximum bass output.
Recommended Sealed Box Volume: Phoenix Gold recommends using this woofer in a sealed enclosure with one of the following internal volumes:
- SQ: 1.2 cu/ft
- SPL: 0.78 cu/ft
Recommended Ported Box Volume: Phoenix Gold recommends using this woofer in a ported enclosure with one of the following internal volumes:
- SQ: 3.2 cu/ft; this enclosure requires one 3" diameter x 6" long port
- SPL: 1.8 cu/ft; this enclosure requires one 3.5" diameter x 7" long port
