    Features

    Overview: The HDR 170 is an additional (or replacement) headset for the Sennheiser RS 170 wireless headphone system (item number 143RS170, sold separately). The closed back, over-ear design helps keep external noise out.

    Kleer Wireless Transmission Technology: The RS 170 headphone system features the digital wireless audio transmission technology from Kleer. Kleer technology transmits uncompressed audio up to 260 feet over a 2.4 GHz digital link (2.4-2.8GHz), enabling you to enjoy your music without the hassle of cables. Kleer's uncompressed digital wireless transmission delivers CD-quality sound.

    Note: Kleer technology will not interfere with wireless networks or other 2.4 GHz devices.

    Batteries: Power for the headset is provided by two rechargeable Ni-MH "AAA" batteries (included) that fit into compartments in the headset. The batteries are recharged using the charger included with the RS 170 system. Fully charged batteries have an operating time of approximately 24 hours and require approximately 16 hours to recharge.

    Bass Boost & Surround Sound: The HDR 170 features selectable Dynamic Bass Boost to deliver deep bass response. It also features selectable Surround Sound simulation for a private movie theater experience.

    Auto Power Off: If there is no signal from the transmitter for more than 5 minutes, the headphones automatically switch to standby mode.

    Controls (on the right earcup):

    • Volume: volume up/down
    • Multi-Function: turn the headphones on/off, set to multi-user operation, mute, and associate with the transmitter
    • Surround: activate/deactivate 3D surround sound
    • Bass: activate/deactivate the dynamic bass boost function

    Our family is pleased with this wireless headphone purchase. We live in an apartment complex. We have a total of two wireless headphones (also have the Sennheiser RS 170 charging system) so that we don't disturb the neighbors. Originally, my wife and I thought we would use these primarily when our kids went to bed. But our kids (teens) use them more than we do and love them! Bonus: my wife and I can hold a conversation without competing with the TV! We just have to get used to our kids laughing rather loudly every now and then. Overall we're satisfied with our purchase of these headphones as well as the prompt service from Crutchfield.
    Pros:
    - Great sound while blocking out surrounding environmental noise(s) NOTE: while these are not noise canceling, they do a very good job at keeping outside noise to a minimum. - Very comfortable for 30-to-60 minute stretches. Can get a little warm around the ears after prolonged use (normal for this type of headphone) - Harmony One remote can mute headphone(s) -- no fumbling for mute button on side of headphone
    Cons:
    - Control buttons on side of headphone are peculiar. Not a deal breaker. Just weird. Need to get used to the buttons. - When turning multiple headphones on after having them off, you must reconnect/sync them to the transmitter one-at-a-time. Takes about a minute to do so. Need to do this because A) only way to have multiple headphones to work with RS 170 system (up to 4 headphones) and B) only way to have independent volume controls for each headset.

    Love the sound but when ordered another so partner could share good sound it won't pair to the tower. Crutchfield determined it was the headphone and sent me another but it won't pair with the tower either. Both work but not together. Have tried instructions on page 26 of manual and have gotten no results. Good chance it's the operator but can't figure it out.

    Cons:
    Won't pair up to tower as advertised
