Hate to ping Pioneer...not really their fault, especially at this price point, but not the most robust speaker, but they are efficient. My biggest problem was with the Crutchfield description of "fits your vehicle". I could have installed a 1" component tweeter in place of the door speaker and it would have "fit" as well as this 6-1/2. The speaker would have completely fallen into the door if not for the tiny tabs meant for 6-3/4" mounting. There simply wasn't enough speaker to fill the hole. I had to make custom adapter plates to make these fit properly. Furthermore, the factory wiring plug was so far away from the speaker that the "free" adapters were way too short. I had to lengthen them by about 6-7 inches to plug these speakers in.

Pros:

low price, attractive, efficient

Cons:

on the wimpy side, but how can I complain at this price?

Very easy installation (2008 Chevrolet Impala) and great sound. I bought these speakers to replace the stock door speakers. The issue was the stock front door speakers would work intermittently, doing some research found that changing the speakers would solve the issue. These speakers have a lot better sound than the stock speakers. The supplied installation instructions covered everything needed to get the door panels off and speakers installed. Total time from start to finish was just under an hour. I read some reviews about the speakers have no bass sound, this might be true if someone is installing the speakers without the mounting adaptor kit. When I was testing the speakers I set the speaker in the speaker hole in the door to test that sound was coming out, the sound was tinny sounding, but once the mounting adaptor was installed and the speaker secured to the door the sound was amazing. There's one step in the installation instructions that says to remove the door release cable from the door panel. My doors the cable was really in there hard, and I didn't want to force / break the plastic retainer, there was enough slack in the cable that I was able to lean the door panel on the door and had adequate access to the speaker without issue.

Pros:

Great sound, installation was easy (less than 30 minutes per door). Crutchfield installation instructions were spot on.

Cons:

The sound is so good that now I need to find better speakers for the rear deck.

Upgrade from Bose

I put a pair of these in my 98 Cadillac STS to replace the 8" midrange woofers in the Bose sytem. These made a huge difference. The output level was pretty much the same but the clarity and depth was much improved. Install was simple, just used the stock baskets from the 8" woofers and drilled new holes for the Pioneers. As people have said the bass response is a bit weak, but it's just a 6.5" coax, there is only so much it can do. I'm running a sub anyway and my system sounds really well balanced.

Price Quality Easy of installation

Cons:

Bass response Surround feels a bit thin

Good Purchase for money spent

I Put these speakers in my 97 dodge dakota. For 50 dollars they are everything you payed for. They are not too strong in the bass category, but When put with a descent sub they are a great uprade from factory speakers and come at a price that is not going to break your bank. Pioneer is a good and trusted brand for me now and when i look to upgrade again I will look to pioneer.

I'm very happy with these speakers, nice clean sound, easy to install. Handles the power of the new receiver I installed with them. Perhaps I was warned by other reviews, or the fact that the original speakers were pretty crappy ('99 Subaru base model Forester stock speakers) to start with and one was blown to boot, but the base response is adequate if not overwhelming.... but I'm not listening to death grunge anyways. If you want great base response, I think you need bigger speakers and/or subwoofer, but these are fine. The point is, don't fret on the base response when reading the reviews, or think about spending real money if that is really important to you. Overall, great sound for the price (and size).

These speakers provided a great improvement over the stock speakers in a Subaru Forester, particularly providing much more base. We got them because we didn't want to sacrifice trunk space for a subwoofer but wanted better bass. They exceeded my expectations, and installation was relatively easy with the accessories from Crutchfield.

No complaints here. I needed a low wattage speaker to go with a 17w per channel digital signal processori installed in the car. These were a great and affordable option.

Cons:

Low wattage may not be suitable for all situations. They seem a bit weak in the lower midrange but mids and highs sound good and a sub helps fill the gap

For the money you pay for these speakers they are a good value. Pioneer has been a quality audio provider for as long as I can remember and this is another quality product from them. These speakers were to replace some failed factory speakers, I would not say the bass is any better but the sound is clearer and you can tell this a better quality built product with just a visual inspection.

The one additional piece I would to add is Crutchfield is the way to go. They included the mounting bracket that worked perfect for our car that would have cost you $20 from another source. The install instructions lacked details in a few spots I needed them but in general were plenty good enough I could get the job done. The product shipped quickly, securely and arrived in perfect condition. Maybe if you tried you save a few bucks elsewhere but really not worth it and will probably cost you more in the end.

Pros:

Quality speaker at a good price. Good clarity.

Cons:

Bass not quite as strong as I would have hoped.

In terms of getting what you pay for, these speakers are excellent. They do lack bass, but you should have known that before you hit the 'purchase' button. Pair them with an amp and woofer and you're good to go.
