Features
Overview: The Monster Power HDP 1850G High Definition PowerCenter protects your home audio/video equipment from dangerous power surges and spikes. It has
8 AC outlets, coaxial (F-connectors), telephone (RJ-14) and network (RJ-45)
jacks for complete protection. In addition, this unit comes with an RF remote
control that allows you to turn off two of the outlets. The HDP 1850G has
5,526 joules of protection, and a digital voltage display on
the front panel.
Monster Tri-Mode: The unit's patented Tri-Mode circuitry
uses relays, MOVs (Metal Oxide Varistors), and thermal fuses to protect against
dangerous power surges, dips and spikes that can travel over all three power
lines (Line, Neutral, and Ground). When it senses dangerous power conditions,
Tri-Mode automatically disconnects AV components and sounds an audible alarm,
letting you know the HDP 1850G has protected your equipment.
Monster T2 Technology: The exclusive Monster T2 technology
is an active electronic microprocessor-controlled circuit that sits in front of
the surge protection circuitry. It monitors the line, neutral, and ground lines
and automatically disconnects the PowerCenter from the AC power line when a long
duration low-voltage sag or high-voltage swell occurs (continuous voltage below
80 Vrms or above 132 Vrms). When the under- or over-voltage condition returns to
normal, T2 reconnects the PowerCenter to the electricity and resets to full
operation after 15 seconds. If the power fault condition does not clear, the T2
circuit keeps the unit shut down.
Monster HD Clean Power Stage 2: The HDP 1850G is equipped
with Monster Clean Power Stage 2 technology to filter both AC power line noise
and reduce noise generated by your connected equipment. The Stage 2 filtration
removes the effect of dirty power for better picture and sound from your HD
audio and video equipment.
Monster GreenPower Technology: When your A/V and computer
equipment go into stand-by mode, they continue to consume electricity even after
you have turned them off. Standby energy waste can account for up to 20% of your
home's electricity use, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. Monster
Power's GreenPower Technology saves energy by turning off the outlets to some of
your equipment when the main component in your rack is turned off. For example,
if you plug your HDTV or A/V receiver into the GreenPower control outlet, the
HDP 1850G will shut off the outlets to your DVD player and powered subwoofer
automatically when your TV or receiver is turned off. When the TV or receiver is
turned on, power returns immediately to the outlets for the DVD player and
powered subwoofer. A level adjustment screw on the bottom of the unit lets you
set the appropriate level to control the outlets for your components.
RF Remote Control: The supplied RF remote control can turn
on and off the Ultra-High Current Audio Filter outlets (marked "Main Amp" and
"Accessory"). This allows unused equipment to be turned off with a single switch
to stop standby energy waste and save money. The remote comes with a
wall-mountable base for convenient storage. The remote can be used with more
than one RF-controlled Monster PowerCenter when the syncing procedure is
performed. Dimensions: Remote: W=1.25", H=2.357", D=0.752"; Base: W=2.356",
H=3.452", D=0.689" (0.863" with remote).
AC Outlets: The HDP 1850G has 8 surge-protected, color coded AC power outlets
on the rear panel. The outlets include the following technology:

Powerline Network Compatible (PLC): Powerline Communication, also known as HomePlug, is a new type of home network system that works on your home's existing electrical wiring. Ordinary
surge protectors can block PLC signals, but the Monster HDP 1850G is engineered to allow full-speed PLC network communications,
while still protecting your equipment and filtering electrical noise and
interference.
PLC-compatible devices should only be plugged into the two Ultra-High Current
Audio Filter Outlets.
Coaxial, Network and Phone Protection: Cable, satellite, modem, DSL, and telephone lines
can also carry dangerous power surges and spikes. Two pairs of coaxial (one for
cable and one for satellite use), one pair of Ethernet (RJ-45) connections is
provided to protect your home network. Also, there are three RJ-14 jacks (1
input, 2 outputs) for phone and DSL lines, incorporating a convenient phone
splitter.
Front Panel: The front panel has a bright digital
display to indicate the voltage on the power line, a display dimmer, a power
on/off switch (for the switched outlets), and a number of LED indicators. The LEDs indicate the following:
- Clean Power On
- Protection On
- Ground OK
- Wiring OK
- Abnormal Voltage
Warranty and Connected Equipment Protection Coverage: The
HDP 1850G
comes with a 5-year limited warranty, and Connected Equipment Protection
Coverage of up to $400,000 for 5 years. Details of the warranty and connected
equipment coverage can be found in the Owner's Manual.
