Sturdy, But

Written By MichaelB, Pleasant View, UT on Thursday, May 02, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used these to wall mount some Pro 1000s. They are sturdy, and do the job, but after mounting a few other speakers with the PinPoint AM20 mounts, the lack of hardware (screws), and the quality of the product (noticable mold depressions), I wish I would have just orderd two more of the AM20s. As a matter of fact, I used the extra screws from the AM20s, to secure these ProMount 90s.
Pros:
sturdy
Cons:
no mounting screws, finish quality

Use This for Mounting

Written By Mike, Houston, TX on Friday, April 12, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great mount. Made with metal that will hold up. The attachment to the speaker is secure and I don't have to worry about my new speakers falling. The swivel allows for any angle option.
Pros:
Great mount, great angle options. I ordered too many because I didn't read thoroughly, they come in pairs. Crutchfield has great customer service that made the return a breeze.
Cons:

Quality mount!

Written By Richard T, DeSoto, TX on Thursday, March 07, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I now have 12 of these Definitive Technology ProMount 90's in white installed in my house, some into drywall, using screw-type anchors and some into studs, all using screws with white heads. The mounts are superior, both esthetically and functionally and, I believe, worth their cost.
Pros:
The perfect mounts for my Definitive Technology ProCenter 1000 and ProMonitor 800 and 1000 speakers!
Cons:
None

A CRITICAL DESIGN FLAW

Written By IrvG, Mooresville, NC on Thursday, January 31, 2013

These mounts would be great if not for a critical flaw in their manufacture. Although the casting itself is rock solid, the threaded rod going into the swivel ball loosens and causes the speaker to laterally rotate in the mount.

At first I thought the clamp wasn't tightened sufficiently. However, upon closer examination, I found that the rod going into the hard plastic ball had partially broken loose from whatever method was used to bond it internally. I now have lateral play on my speaker which causes it to move sideways about an inch in either direction. I'm hoping it won't get worse.

I called Definitive Technology and explained the problem. Of course that had never heard of it happening before. They agree to send replacement swivel balls immediately.

But when you consider how top heavy the Pro-Monitoritor 1000s are, and how the threaded fastener engages the bottom of the speaker, it is no stretch of the imagination to say that all this force is being transmitted entirely through the rod into the swivel ball. The slightest touch on the mounted speaker is enough to cause the rod to break loose from its internal bond with the ball.

I had hoped there might have been an interlocking device inside the ball to provide a solid mechanical restraint, but apparently, the rod goes straight into the ball with no sort of interlock.

I have been using these brackets for 25 years. The design is simple and clean. They adjust up/down and side-to-side (sort of) and they are very secure. I would recommend these to anyone who seeks an unassuming but solid wall bracket. All necessary hardware was included.
Pros:
* Well Designed * Well Built
Cons:
The price

Good wall mounts

Written By Rich S, Cincinnati, OH on Saturday, January 12, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Strong wall mount. Simple and easy to install. The mounting bracket has a center hole (not shown on photos or described in literature) that can be used to feed speaker wire through it to conceal the speaker wire feed. Looks great in our room.
Pros:
Simple. Strong.

None

ProMounts for speakers

Written By Sharon, Tampa, FL on Tuesday, December 11, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Having gotten my Definitive 800 speakers last Christmas and jamming all the front speakers, left, right and center, on a TV cabinet, I decided to try mounting them on the wall behind the TV with the ProMount 90s. WOW! What a difference in sound quality! Were it not for the mounts I don't know how I could have accomplished this. I also have smaller rear speakers connected by Rocketfish which now seem to have come alive! I turned to a nature TV program and my dog went crazy looking for the creature behind us! Not being able find the critter, he ran into another room. Of course for the front speakers I had all that monster cable showing over the door and window frame and up in the corner. So I went to Lowe's and found really neat white plastic triangular sleeves for over the door and along the side of the window and was pleased that all the cables disappeared. The ProMounts have optimized my sound system! I would recommend them for anyone!
Pros:
Optimized my sound system.
Cons:
Speaker direction adjustment is more difficult for those of us with older hands and fingers, so pick the optimum direction when you install.

Best Mounting Brackets Ever!

Written By Pat H, Sykesville, MD on Saturday, November 24, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are great brackets. It holds my Def 1000s like a champ. Very easy to adjust in any direction. If going into drywall with no stud behind go to the hardware store and buy springload brackets. They will counter the weight behind the wall so the speakers wont rip out the drywall.

Nice, solid mount

Written By AustinJerry, Austin, TX on Sunday, April 22, 2012

All metal construction, mounts solidly to the wall, has good range of adjustment, and is easy to lock down. Replaced ProMount 80's with this mount, which is a much better choice. I use the mount for ProMonitor 1000 speakers (7 lbs).
Pros:
Solid mount, good range of adjustment, easy to lock down.
Cons:
None.

ProMount 90s

Written By Anonymous, Waterford CT on Thursday, February 09, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Clean design, well made, and very strong. The design allows the speaker wire to come directly through the bracket for a neat appearance.I mounted the speakers/ProMounts on drywall with 90lb Driller Toggles and on the wood frame surrounding a 42 inch flat screen using black pocket hole screws. Did not use boxes just holes in the wood/wallboard for the wires.

Solid

Written By Chad B, Auburn, CA on Monday, July 18, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased a set of speaker wall mounts from my local home improvement wearhouse. They were suppose to hold 10lb speakers. Ha! Idon't think so. They sag and feel cheap so I started looking for a better pair at Crutchfield.com. I found the Definitive Technology brand. Seeing how I've been an audiofile for years I know that Definitive Tech products are very good. I bought the Pro Mount 90s. They say they will hold 10lbs like the other brand but they were wrong. The Pro Mount 90s will hold way more. I installed my Polk OWM5s (they way 6lbs) and they are rock solid. Love the strength, looks and adjustability.

Perfect for the job

Written By Henry, White Plains, NY on Friday, May 27, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These mounts work great. At first glance, I was not sure that they would support the heavy speakes. But once installed they work as advertised and look very stylish, due to the high gloss cermic material.

They are also very easy to adjust, in regards to the speaker direction.
