Overview: The Bose SoundLink Wireless Mobile Speaker employs Bluetooth Technology that allows you to enjoy digital music & Internet radio from your Bluetooth enabled digital audio player (iPod), smartphone (iPhone/Android/Blackberry), tablet (iPad), or laptop (Windows/Mac) in & around your home. The SoundLink Wireless Mobile Speaker utilizes Bose proprietary speaker technology for lifelike sound performance. The Bose SoundLink can be moved from room-to-room thanks to it's rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

Bose Proprietary Speaker Technology: The Bose SoundLink wireless mobile speaker employs proprietary speaker technology that delivers robust sound with convincing low notes from Bose passive radiators.

Note: The speaker is designed to sound best when placed on a shelf, counter, desk, or tabletop that is 24-48" high. For best bass response, the speaker should be placed near a wall; bass response decreases as the speaker is placed closer to the center of a room.

Bluetooth Technology (with 30' range): The SoundLink Wireless Mobile speaker is designed specifically for use with today's most popular Bluetooth devices, such as smartphones, tablets, & laptops. Wireless Bluetooth Technology eliminates the need to dock or physically connect your Bluetooth enabled audio device. A 30' wireless range lets you keep your Bluetooth enabled digital audio player, smartphone, tablet, laptop, or other device with you & place the SoundLink speaker where you want it.

Note: On average, the speaker will work within 30' of your paired Bluetooth device. Walls & construction materials can affect reception at times. The Bose SoundLink is not compatible with all Bluetooth devices.

Pair & Play: The SoundLink wireless mobile speaker must be paired with your Bluetooth enabled audio device initially. Simply press & hold the Bluetooth button on the unit's top panel, then choose the "SoundLink" speaker from your smartphone or other Bluetooth enabled source; and its now memorized, & ready to play. The wireless mobile speaker keeps up to 6 Bluetooth sources in memory. However, it can only connect to, and play audio from one device at a time.

Top Panel Controls: Power & volume controls are located on the wireless mobile speaker, itself. Otherwise, use your Bluetooth enabled digital audio player, smartphone, tablet, laptop, or other paired device to select a playlist, streaming audio source, etc. No remote control needed.

Phone Interrupt: When you have your smartphone connected to the SoundLink, an incoming phone call will mute the wireless mobile speaker & your phone call will only be heard from your smartphone. When the call ends, your music automatically resumes through the SoundLink speaker.

Auxiliary Input: The Bose SoundLink is equipped with a rear-panel 3.5mm auxiliary input for playing an MP3 player or DVD/CD player through the system. A 36" stereo minijack audio cable is included.

Status Indicators: The status indicators, located on the front of the SoundLink speaker, illuminate to indicate when a source or feature is activated.

Integrated Cover: An integrated cover protects the speaker during travel & unfolds into a stand for instant playing anywhere. No sound is emitted from the speaker unless the cover is opened. The included cover is a dark gray nylon. Additional covers in various colors (burgundy, red, tan) are available (sold separately).

Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery: The installed rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides approximately 8-hours of playback time. The lithium-ion battery charges whenever the system is plugged into a wall outlet with the included AC power adapter. An empty battery usually charges in 2-3 hours.

Note: The included lithium-ion battery is replaceable; go to Bose.com for replacement.

AC Power Adapter: In addition to the integrated rechargeable battery, the Bose SoundLink can operate off of standard household current using the included AC power adapter.

Note: Optional 12-volt car charger (018SNDCHGR, sold separately) is available.

Auto Off: If a device is connected, but not playing audio, the speaker will turn itself off after 30 minutes.

Mini-USB Port (service): The Bose SoundLink wireless mobile speaker is fitted with a mini-USB (type-B) port, labeled "Service", for software updates to ensure ongoing Bluetooth device compatibility.

Pros:

Small, good sound, completely wireless.

Cons:

I have had some scratchiness in the bluetooth connections at times, and had to use the aux port.

This is my first Bose purchase. I figured if I was gonna go wireless that I would buy quality. This speaker has a clear sound. Crisp highs , no washed out mids and no boomy lows. Great inside or out. Can be turned up pretty loud without distortion. This product is worth the money.

Pros:

Grown up looks. Attractive enough for any room in your house. Easy to take along.

Cons:

Although the bass is rich and not boomy. A little more on the low end would be nice.

Better than expected. Uber portable with rechargeable litium battery. For the money the best deal around. Sound is cleaner then the new Dr. Dre beat box or the House of Marley boom box. Also you dont have to use those 6 D batteries we all always carry with us. Great product.

I purchased prepared to be somewhat dissapointed--these type speakers can't sound good. Was I mistaken! This little guy is the bomb--super easy to setup, bluetooth works fantastic with iPhone and iPad, and the sound is terrific. I use it all the time while at the pool, while grilling, on the porch, RV, anywhere! It's small stature makes it easy to pack or carry with you and the charge lasts a good long time.

Pros:

Small size, easy connectivity, great sound

Cons:

As with most items of quality, it 'aint cheap.

Can't beat it for the size! This little thing rocks, literally. The compactness is great and so is the sound. I love being able to take it anywhere, and have great sounding music. I paired it with Sony NWZ-A865BLK 16GB MP3 Player and it sounds great! Much better sound quality than my friends Ipod or Zen!! The wireless feature comes in very handy too! It's really nice not having to be sitting at your speaker or having it docked just to play music. With a clear site line, my wireless connection will work up to 100 feet!

The only knock I have would be directly to Bose. For 3 bones, give me some kind of carry case or something. Don't sell me something that needs protection, and then say it's available for an extra price....I knew there was nothing with it when I purchased it, but still...This was the reason for the 4 star rating and not a 5. FOR THE SIZE, I don't see how you could beat the sound quality.

Pros:

Sound quality. Wireless Feature. Battery Life.

Cons:

No protective case, unless you pay extra...

At first I was a little disappointed in the sound. I was trying to compair it to the Altec Lansing imix. There in was the problem. The Soundlink is a portable device that is so easy to move from place to place, I can't compair it to any protable system I have that is battery operated. Then to the sound. For such a little device the sound is perfect for a small to medium room. I brought this for my therapy groups and retreats to use with guided meditation. So far every group, every group, has asked me what the source was and frequently where the source is. You can place this under a chair, on top of a shelf with no problem. This has saved me in carry around the wave system, the sounddock system, etc. It's just just what I needed.

Pros:

Portable, nice to look at, noticable sound, masculine (leather cover), connects to ipod everything etc

Cons:

Not for a large room, but would imagine a larger soundlink is in the making.

I managed to get it connected to my Macbook to play music but my Android phone won't connect. The sound is pretty good but I'm getting kind of frustrated with it and I don't think its a easy to connect to as I'd hoped. I'm thinking of returning it and getting the iHome WiFi one instead.

We are very pleased with the sound quality and the very compact size of the SoundLink. It was extremely easy to link it to my iPad and laptop computer and I will try to link it to my car that has Bluetooth capability. I look forward to both its portability and battery powered features in the summer when I plan to use it on our boat as well. After using it with my iPad I realized something that is super important but that was not mentioned in sales literature and that prospective buyers should consider when comparing this remote SoundLink with a docking speaker system for an iPad. I discovered that with the SoundLink, you can continue to use all the iPad features, like reading a downloaded book or using the internet while listening to music. Of course all that capability is lost if a docking speaker is used for the iPad or for the iPhone as well. This is a very good unit and certainly reflects the quality and price tradition of all Bose products.

Pros:

Easy to use, good sound quality, portability and small size

Cons:

Turns itself off if not used for a while which means you have to get up and turn its power on. I would prefer to have an option for "always on".

For a small, portable bluetooth speaker, this Bose speaker produces surprisingly good sound. I read in reviews that a frequent problem with small speakers is sound distortion as volume increases. Not with this speaker. Understand it's a single speaker and not intended to provide any sort of stereo separation or high quality sound reproduction. I use it to listen to streaming radio, mostly, and it's perfect for that.

However, the bluetooth connectivity is unreliable. The speaker often doesn't recognize a device (like my MacBook Pro) after it has already "discovered" it. Shouldn't the speaker recognize any previously connected bluetooth device once the speaker is turned on? The Bose instructions say to hold down the bluetooth button for 3 seconds until the icon flashes slowly, and then the speaker will find previously "discovered" devices. That function has never worked. I discovered at an online forum that if you hold down the mute button on the speaker until all the LED lights on the front of the speaker start flashing, it will reset the speaker and turn it off. When you turn it back on, miraculously it recognizes previously connected bluetooth devices automatically (without holding down the bluetooth button for 3 seconds). This fix is NOT explained in the instructions that came with the speaker. Clearly this is a BIG BUG and should be fixed. That's why I gave the speaker 4 and not 5 stars.

Pros:

Portable, good sound quality for its size.

Cons:

The bluetooth connectivity is unreliable.
