Small Pocket

This fit the dash well and looks good. When using the stereo installation sleeve, make sure to really bend the tabs down to hold it tight. This complicated by the lack of space around the opening on the back, but a screwdriver should get it done. The pocket is very small and deep, I need to keep a screwdriver or something handy because if anything small gets into the back of the pocket, a tool is my only hope of reaching it.

Could be better

I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla and this kit fits the vehicle perfectly. However, the CD receiver (Axxera XDMA7200) that I purchased does not work well with it. The fold-down faceplate does not fold down all the way because the bay for the receiver is at the bottom of the molded piece and the car's panel sticks out farther than the receiver. Because the faceplate also has to be folded down to be detached, it is difficult to remove the faceplate.

Pros:

Fits well in my vehicle.

Cons:

Does not work well with my specific CD receiver.

omg i loved this kit. went to a chain electronics store that we won't name for my initial install. they messed it up. ended up looking up how to do it, went in and fixed it myself. the old kit was this massive clumsy screw together thing that didn't even work right, the deck kept falling out of my dash, i wouldn't even go back to them to fix it. i got a new head and this kit from crutchfield. SNAP, then two screws, then done. ty crutch

Pros:

was free with my deck. increadibly easy install. a too good to be true kinda easy. matched the contour of my eccenctric dashboard perfectly

it didn't come with a "that was easy" button

Getting the in dash receiver kit to fit into the stock molding was a bit tricky, but overall okay. The top space isn't a lot of room, but it's better than just wasting the space.

Nice attempt but bad design looks great on the finish but missing the four tabs to hold the trim ring to the radio adapter also no bolt option to secure the radio to the bracket. I orderd a different on that had all needed brackets.

I have always been a fan of Metra kits, but this one is very nice. The color and texture of the black plastic actually matches my dash better than my Metra kit did. They should rethink the tiny, useless, pocket on top though.

I'm not sure how anyone can complain about this product. It's a quite solid piece of plastic that looks extremely factory. I even forgot to screw the posts in and it's still very secure (lmao I'm not about to take apart the entire front dash area again, this Corolla was a pain to do installs in).

Pros:

Looks factory, secures head unit and itself quite nicely. Other than my head unit, you would never be able to tell that it was after market. Best of all: IT WAS FREE.

This works and doesn't look too bad. Took 10 min to install in the dark. However it is secured by only 2 screws on thin and long plastic molded in brackets at the bottom and modeled in clips that engage factory trim mounting points at the rest. I don't have much faith it will stay put in the event of a rear-ender accident. If you don't mind the prospect of your radio becoming a missile that could hit passengers it is fine. It would have been better if it used, or had an option to use the steel brackets that mounted the factory radio. After 2 weeks of use I have a new dash squeak but am not sure it is from this item, didn't look into it yet.

Pros:

works and doesn't look too bad, easy install

Cons:

Doesn't look too secure if there is ever an accident. Flimsy mounting.

This is an acceptable way to install a single-DIN deck into a 9th-generation Corolla, but certainly not ideal. This adapter relies on the dash bezel for structural integrity and does a poor job of supporting the deck securely. A better unit is Metra's 99-8204 model, which has the option of ISO-DIN mounting for the deck, rather than fooling around with bending metal tabs on the sleeve that comes with your new stereo.

Three stars: It does precisely what it was designed to do, but not as well as some other dash adapters on the market.

Pros:

Inexpensive (free with deck purchase), easy installation

Cons:

Structural stability leaves a bit to be desired
