About the Alpine SBS-1041BP
Why waste time getting the "perfect" thump when Alpine's already done the work for you? The SWS-1041BP bandpass enclosure includes a high-quality 10" Type-S Alpine sub just connect it to an amplifier (the enclosure has five-way binding posts), and you're good to go!
The pulp cone has been reinforced with Kevlar® (the material used in bulletproof vests) for extra rigidity, so it will stand up to hard play. An extended spider landing area provides extra excursion for fuller sound, while a Santoprene rubber surround controls cone movement for smooth bass.
The double-sided flared port gives you lots of bandpass thump. The enclosure is made of medium-density fiberboard and has a smoke-colored viewing window so you can watch the woofer do its thing!

Specifications
Construction: The bandpass enclosure is made of MDF (medium density fiberboard) covered with black carpeting. The sealed chamber contains a smoke-colored plexiglas window (10-1/4" x 8-5/8") through which the subwoofer can be viewed. The vented chamber contains one 3-3/8" diameter double-sided flared port. The speaker is an Alpine SWS-1041 Type-S subwoofer.
5-way Binding Posts: The enclosure has one pair of 5-way binding posts that can accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs. The enclosure will present a 4-ohm load when connected to an amplifier.
Kevlar Reinforced Pulp Cone: The 10" Alpine Type-S subwoofer mounted in this enclosure has a Kevlar reinforced pulp cone. Kevlar adds strength and tear resistance to the woofer cone while maintaining the benefits of a pulp cone design. There is also an oversized inverted dust cap of the same material, which increases rigidity and virtually eliminates distortion at extreme volume levels.
Santoprene Rubber Surround: The high-excursion 3/4" Santoprene rubber surround is durable and resistant to the elements, resulting in a very reliable performance. The surround is specially designed to resist deformation that is common in most woofers with wide surrounds. This design gives the surround more control over the woofer cone to reduce distortion and possible driver failure.
Dual Progressive Nomex Spiders: This subwoofer has dual progressive Nomex spiders for added stability and mechanical durability. The custom progressive rolls gives the woofer a longer, more linear stroke with maximum centering and restoring force. Special edge control design and Nomex construction provide excellent tear resistance, strength and long-term reliability. The tinsel speaker leads are integrated into the top spider.
Heavy Gauge Steel Basket: The frame is custom stamped from heavy gauge steel for maximum strength.
Heat Transfer Plate: This subwoofer contains a heat transfer plate that is thermally coupled to the voice coil. This plate pulls heat away from the voice coil, achieving up to 10% additional power handling, and better reliability.
Bumped Back Plate and Extended Vented Pole Piece: This woofer combines a bumped back plate and an extended pole piece, giving it a nearly 2" peak-to-peak cone excursion. This extra long cone movement provides a higher bass output. The vents in the pole piece help to dissipate heat from the voice coil, giving it a more reliable performance.
Specifications: There is no specification sheet included with this bandpass enclosure. The following specifications were obtained directly from Alpine:
- Recommended Power Handling: 50-200 watts RMS
- Peak Power Handling: 600 watts
- Frequency Response: 35Hz-1kHz
- Sensitivity: 87dB
