Overview: The Definitive Technology Mythos Two is a compact high-definition loudspeaker which can be used as a front or surround speaker for your home theater system. The Mythos Two is equipped with two high-definition 4-1/2 inch drivers pressure-coupled to two 4-1/2 inch planar low-bass radiators, and a 1-inch pure aluminum dome tweeter with an acoustically contoured faceplate for exceptional high-frequency extension, detail, and smoothness. The Mythos Two also features a hand-polished gloss aircraft-grade extruded aluminum enclosure with proprietary damping technologies to ensure total rigidity and perfectly accurate sound. The loudspeaker can be shelf-mounted or wall-mounted using the supplied pedestal base and wall-mount bracket.

Driver Technology

Speaker Array: The Definitive Technology Mythos Two contains a D'Appolito array consisting of two high-definition 4-1/2 inch drivers housed in a air-tight enclosure. The drivers feature die cast Aluminum baskets, mono-polymer cones and finite element analysis optimized magnet structures for clear low distortion life-like sound. The active drivers are pressure-coupled to two 4-1/2 inch planar low-bass radiators for a total bass radiating surface greater than a that of an 8 inch woofer. The bass roll-off of the Mythos Two is smooth and controlled, allowing it to seamlessly blend with a powered subwoofer, such as Definitive's SuperCubes, for audiophile-grade home theater performance. A 1-inch Pure Aluminum dome tweeter produces the speakers extended highs.

Break-In Period: The Mythos Two will sound good right out of the box; however, an extended break-in period of 20-40 hours or more of playing is required to reach full performance capability. The break-in period allows the suspensions to work in and results in full bass, a more open midrange, and smoother high frequency reproduction.

Enclosure Design

Extruded Aluminum Enclosure: The Mythos Two enclosure is hand-polished gloss back aircraft-grade extruded aluminum with proprietary damping technologies that ensure total rigidity. All components are mounted on a resonance-free PolyStone baffle. These construction technologies along with state-of-the-art drivers and tweeter serve to deliver high quality sound with a wide soundstage, pinpoint imaging, high dynamic impact, and superb realism.

Binding Posts: The Mythos Two is equipped with a pair of gold-plated, 5-way binding posts to attach your receiver's speaker wire.

Mounting Options

Applications: The Mythos Two can be used as front main or rear/side surround speaker in your home theater audio system. The Mythos Two should only be positioned vertically when wall-mounting or shelf-mounting the speaker.

Mounting: The Definitive Technology Mythos Two comes with easy-to-install mounting hardware that allows it to hang on the wall beside your flat-panel television. The included wall mount bracket allows direct mounting to a wall and also adapts to flat panel TV swing out arm-style wall mounts so that the speaker angle changes with the TV angle. It also includes a tempered glass base to give them stability and style when placed next to a table-top flat-panel television.
