Awesome wire. The outer clear coating surrounding the wires is easy to cut through with a blade to strip wires beneath, despite what some of the pansies below say. Makes for good cable protection.

Good cable, I bit pricey. Does the job, I think that the plastic cover everyone is complaining about is a good thing. Think about it as a protective barrier so the cables won't get pinched

Speaker wire is speaker wire right? Just go with a brand name you trust. I thought I'd go with Streetwires, but it wasn't worth the hassle. These wires are encased in clear tubing which not only made it extremely difficult to strip, but also made the diameter twice what it should have been.

I guess they look cool??

Hard to strip, large diameter

Nice cables, nice feature in being twisted-pair, outer jacket helps maintain twisted-pair integrity. Seems unlikely that in-coming noise would be an issue at speaker level, but perhaps it can help prevent out-going noise.

Pros:

Good quality heavy cable, twisted-pair feature, availabilty to order by foot.

Cons:

Pricey, bulky.

Ordered these to install an amp (M-1500) and sub (B-17) in my son's car for xmas. Can't go wrong. The additional shielding is a bit of a pain at times but nothing that cannot be overcome with a box cutter.

These wires are awesome. Difficult to strip, especially if you need to take off more than an inch of the outer casing but I knew this going in from reading some reviews. It's also a very large diameter due to the outer casing (bigger than I expected) but I was still able to get it into the doors and through other tight areas without much effort. These wires were part of a complete system, but I can assure you that these wires will not be the weak link!

Pros:

Quality, durability.

Cons:

None for me, but be aware of the size of the outer casing and difficulty to strip.

Very flexible cable; however, the outer tubing can be considered a blessing or a nuisance... it all depends on how you look at it. I rather have the extra protect the outer tube affords, but routing can be troublesome (especially into doors). So consider the benefit or issues the outer jacket can present before you make your purchase. For me, I feel I made the right decision.

Pros:

Very flexible cable. The outer jacket gives me peace of mind to pull cable without worrying about nicking the insulation and exposing raw cable.

I liked the quality of this wire very much. It has a very thick vinyl tubing that encases the wires, which makes for good robustness but troublesome routing. IF you want to run this thru your doors, you need a lot of extra room. I had to run conventional wire thru the doors and then splice into the street gauge.

hard to run in tight places, requires additional planning

This is great speaker wire! Another reviewer only gave this product 1 star due to the outer plastic shield being too bulky to hide. This adds to the robustness of this product, and was not worth a 1-star rating.

The bottom line is that if you are putting together a nice stereo system, NEVER buy cheap speaker wire. Cheaper, thinner wires can break and degrade the sound of your music. It can also cause strain on your amplifier(s). Buy this StreetWires product, and you will be 100% satisfied. Trust me - I have been building high-end stereo systems for over 25 years, and I always use StreetWires products, and I have never had a single problem.

Perfect for Speakers and sub's under 1000 watts.

Only complaint I possibly have which isn't even a bad one is that the casing for the actual speaker wires is very tough to get through when you're trying to get some extra wire for bridging or just trying to get the wires far apart enough to hook into the amp. But this isn't actually a bad thing since it makes the cables very strong yet flexible and look great!

Having just purchased a pair of JL Audio component speakers for my front speakers on my Xterra a friend recommended that I change my old factory speaker wires as well to complement the JL's. Read the great reviews about these particular wires and bought 50 foot. I was suprised at the quality and the weight and impressed at the outer insulating sleeve that protects the + and - wires. Because of the thickness it was a little difficulty routing the wire, but it's doable and reassuring that the wire is well insulated from the elements. So far, the sound has been great and although you pay a bit more it's worth it!

This wire is way to bulky to hide away under the carpet of your car or behind panels. The clear plastic coating around the outside makes it hard to use. Its just not worth the effort and definitely not worth the price.

Very nice, high quality stranded wire. I purchased the 14g and was not disappointed.
The jacket is flexible without stiffness making routing easy. The spiral configuration
does add bulk though, so if you're working through very tight spaces you have to keep
that in mind. If you need something very low-profile, this may not be for you.

The last pair of speaker wire that I bought were Monster cable that I used for a pair Klipcsh
loud speakers. They did their job well. I recently ordered a a new stereo system for my
bedroom and the tech that I was talking to recommended the Street/Wire UCT14,14 ga.
clear/trans blue speaker wire. As I am writing this review, my room is filled with the sound of
ZZ Top. My toes are dancing along with the rest of me. Happy Thanksgiving, folk's!

This has got to be the best speaker wire for connecting your full-range coaxial speakers or component speakers!...the audio quality is simply amazing!!...it is an outstanding upgrade over your cheap, flimsy, thin factory speaker wire. I highly recommend this one for all of your stereo system installs. The 12 gauge version of this brand of cable should be used on subs only because it is extremely thick!...always order more than what you think you're gonna need. I ordered 100 feet and it was just enough for a complete install in my vehicle. I give it a full five (5) stars!

This wire is great! Wouldn't recommend anything else and the price is great too. I might
even suggest using the 16 gauge wire if you have less space to work with because this stuff
is THICK. The outer sheath is a pain to work with like everyone else said but it protects the
wires so well and blocks out a lot of noise that it is worth it.

Cut a line down the sheath down the center, grab the flap with some vice grips and
continue to pull on the loose sheath as you slice down the center of the two speaker wires.
