"W" Composite Sandwich Cone Woofer: The Focal Utopia
Be (33 WX2) 13" subwoofer features a "W" composite sandwich cone
woofer. The rigidity offered by the glass layers delivers extreme linearity over
a wide frequency range without and low frequency distortion. The structural foam
central core's lightness allows optimal acceleration, without delay, while damping
derived from the "W" material produces a neutral, coloration free sound.
Rubber Surround: The FOCAL Utopia Be 33 WX2 features a
long-throw rubber surround for long excursion, deep bass (27-350Hz), and added
durability to promote long life.
2-Layer Voice Coil: The FOCAL Utopia Be 33 WX2 features a
2-layer voice-coil for high power handling and bass without distortion.
Multi-Ferrite Magnets: The Utopia Be 33 WX2 woofer utilizes
six double-stacked Ferrite magnets (12 total) to create a powerful magnetic field
to help suppress compression and give better power handling. This Multi-Ferrite
motor assembly allows for greater efficiency (92db), higher power handling
capabilities, and natural cooling of the woofer's voice coil.
Die Cast (Zamak) Vented Basket: The FOCAL Utopia Be 33 WX2
features a vented die-cast Zamak basket which is a rigid, non-magnetic, and
non-resonant frame that provides a strong, reliable structure for the woofer.
The vented basket provides a self-regulated coil cooling system which allows
air to flow freely preventing heat build-up and optimized reliability and
performance consistency.
5-Way Binding Posts: The FOCAL 13" woofer is equipped with
a pair of gold-plated 5-way binding post speaker terminals for easy connection
up to 10AWG wire.
Foam Gasket: The Utopia Be 33 WX2 comes supplied with a
self-adhesive foam gasket mounting-ring for better chassis damping and to
prevent air leakage.
Removable Cloth Cover: The Utopia Be 33 WX2 woofer comes with
a cloth cover to protect the magnet from scratches or smudging during transport,
handling, and installation. The cloth cover should be removed once the woofer is
installed. The cloth cover is not designed to be placed on the woofer after it
has been installed.
Enclosure Compatibility
Ported Box Enclosure: The Focal Utopia Be (13 WX2) 13"
subwoofer has been optimized to work in a bass-reflex (ported) enclosure. This
type of enclosure offers power efficiency and deep, loud bass frequencies. The
recommend vented box volume for the Focal Utopia Be (13 WX2) is 1.236 cubic feet
with a 3.9375" diameter x 11.811" long port; or 1.589 cubic feet with
a 3.9375" diameter x 9.842" port.
