Overview: The Canon EF100mm f/2.8
Macro USM is a macro lens that can be used for normal photography as well as
macro photography up to 1x magnification. The
Canon EF100mm f/2.8 Macro USM features an autofocus lens for macro photography
up to life-size (1x) magnification. Macro
lenses can uncover detail that would be impossible to detect by the eye and give
new perspective to extremely minute subjects such as insects or the petals of a
small flower.
Compatibility: The EF100mm f/2.8 Macro USM is an EF Canon
lens which means it is compatible with all Canon digital SLRs (those that accept
EF and EF-S lenses, plus those that accept EF only; which would be the
Full-frame EOS 5D Mark II), as well as Canon EOS film SLRs.
3-Group Floating System: A 3-group
floating system results in excellent delineation at all focusing distances.
Inner Focusing: Inner focusing affords a
long working distance of 5.9in. (149mm) at 1x. Ring USM for silent and
high-speed AF, and full-time manual focusing is also provided.
Lens Construction: The Canon EF100mm f/2.9 Macro USM lens features a lens
construction with 12 elements in 8 groups.
Secondary Diaphragm:A secondary diaphragm blocks stray light at f/2.8, increasing contrast
when shooting wide-open.
Ultrasonic Motor (USM): With the Ultrasonic Motor (USM), you can
expect fast and quiet focusing capability.
Auto/Manual Focus: To shoot in Autofocus mode, set the focus mode
switch on the lens to "AF". To manually focus the camera, set the switch to
"MF", and focus by turning the focusing ring. The focusing ring always works,
regardless of the focus mode.
Focusing Range: You can set
the focusing distance range to 1' to infinity or 1.6' to infinity. By setting
the suitable focusing distance range, the actual autofocusing time can be
shorter.
Diagonal Angle Of View: This Canon macro lens provides a diagonal
angle of view of 24°.
Optional Accessories: You can attach
optional filters to the filter mounting thread
on the front of the lens. You can also attach an optional lens hood or Tripod
mount.
