    Metal Matrix Diaphragm (M.M.D.): Derived from the C.M.M.D. material used in Infinity's flagship Cascade series, M.M.D. features a stiff aluminum core, anodized on both sides for increased strength and rigidity. M.M.D. transducers conduct sound faster than paper, polypropylene, and Kevlar, pushing unwanted resonances beyond the operating range of the transducer. M.M.D. drivers deliver crystal-clear, distortion-free sound from dynamic digital sources, even at high listening levels. The PS210 is equipped with a front-firing, 10" M.M.D. woofer.

    Surround: For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofer uses a rubber surround.

    Amplifier: This subwoofer is powered by a 300-watt (RMS) amplifier, rated at 20Hz - 150Hz with no more than 0.1% THD. The maximum (peak) power output is 500 watts.

    Bass Ports: There is one rear-firing bass port that allows deep bass with high acoustic efficiency and low distortion.

    Controls

    Gain Control: The subwoofer has a rotary control on the rear panel for adjusting the level of the bass.

    Low-Pass Crossover: The subwoofer features a continuously variable 50Hz-150Hz low-pass crossover that determines the highest frequency at which the subwoofer reproduces sounds. The crossover has a 24dB/octave slope. The crossover is bypassed when the "LFE/Normal" switch is in the "LFE" position.

    Phase Switch: The subwoofer's phase switch allows you to control the phase of the subwoofer's output relative to the front speakers. If the bass sounds muddy or unclear, toggling the phase control can sometimes strengthen the bass "attack."

    Auto On/Off Circuit: The auto on/off circuit turns the power amp on when a signal is sensed and turns the amplifier off and into standby mode approximately 10 minutes after a signal is no longer received. An LED indicator on the rear panel glows green when the amplifier is on and red when the amp is in standby.

    Connections

    Line-level Inputs: The subwoofer has gold-plated stereo RCA inputs with an "LFE/Normal" switch. If you have a Dolby Digital/DTS receiver or processor with a low-frequency-effects (LFE) output, you should switch the "LFE/Normal" switch to the LFE position. If your receiver/processor does not contain a Dolby Digital or DTS processor but has a subwoofer output, you should switch the "LFE/Normal" switch to the Normal position. In either case, you may use either the Left or Right input. A "Y" adapter is not necessary.

    GARBAGE>>>dont buy it but if you do here is how to fix it

    Its a 3 star when it works. Its zero the other two times the thing has blown the two voltage regulators the power supply pcba. So here is my experience. Had it for just under two years and 2 voltage regulators overheated and burned. Crutchfield sent a replacement power supply since still under warranty which fixed it. It took 9 months for the same to voltage regulators to blow. I use it for ordinary surround sound use. Not loud, nothing crazy so there is an obvious design issue. The 2nd time it failed, I read the reviews and saw that everyone else was having the same issue. I got online and downloaded the shematic and ordered the two voltage regulators that burned up, for get this $0.76 each and because I am an engineer and have access to the soldering station replaced the two components, and then fabricated two aluminum heat sinks and screwed them to the back of the replaced voltage regulators and off we go. I have been running it for two weeks and so far so good. The reality is The subwoofer has a fundamental design issue and the heat sinks I added should dissipate enough heat to lower the temperature on the voltage regulators enough to prevent this in the future. If you are one of the many who have fell victim to a poor product like this, ask your Electrical engineer buddy for help on this one. It takes about 10 minutes to repair. Best thing was Crutchfield asking me to buy another. I was like you heard me say its already failed twice right?
    Pros:
    sounds good when it is working before it burns up every 9-24 months.
    Cons:
    Obvious design flaw that infinity should have taken care of.

    Don't Buy It II

    Fried after two or three years, can't remember exactly. I had it repaired, it lasted another year, fried again! Junk, Crutchfield should stop selling this model if they want to maintain their excellent reputation for quality.

    Don't waste your money! It sounds great until the amplifier fries. Had mine for abou 3-1/2 years; very light usage. One day the sub started "cracking" while watching a movie. Took out the amp (completely unventilated); obvious heat damage on the circuit board. Started searching on Google...numerous posts with the same problem. They give a lousy warranty of 2 or 3 years on the amp and that's what craps out. It makes no sense to send it back for a $100-$200 repair and have the same amp fry again in 3 or 4 years because of poor design.

    Good Sub When it Works

    Owned it now for about 4 years with light use and volume never turned up past half on the sub. Had to get it repaired the first time about 18 months ago. Now it has started making a chirping noise for about the first minute it's turned on. I suggest purchasing a different sub.

    It worked for just long enough to be out of the two year electronics warranty period. Talk about engineering just long enough, but no longer. The amp overheats and takes out some vital components. By comparison, I have a Revel subwoofer based of the Infinity Beta series and it is still running strong after 8 years, used everyday. This one was used about every other day for just over two years and quit. Now the Revel did cost 2x this one, but now I have to replace this one anyway and I'll likely spend the 2x cost overall to get another decent sub. Mine does the same input light stays red and flickers green when there is a signal.
    Pros:
    Sounds good for the money.
    Cons:
    Electronics are crap inside.

    this item is downright horrible. its sounds great but in the long run its no good. i couldnt listen to anything for more than 5 minutes without it cutting out and overheating on me and my volume level was only turned up 1/4 of the way. i will never buy another infinity product again.

    I had purchased this sub about three years ago and it sounded superb. I never used it at full power, always at half or less. As i have been reading in other reviews it seems to have a problem with the amplifier. Mine does the same thing as all the reviews i read the standby light goes red and green constantly. I feel infinity should have all of their subs recalled because it seems to be a common problem with them. BUYER BEWARE!!

    Sounded great until it died

    I'll start with the positive. The sub sounds great paired with the Infinity 362's, 252's and 350 center ran by an Onkyo receiver. The problem began a month ago when the sub stopped working. Same problem as the other reviews, blinking standby light. Called Crutchfield tech support and had a new amp on the way in about 10 minutes, very easy to deal with. Other companies need to take a lesson from them.

    Got the amp replaced and sub is working good again, hopefully it lasts. I wasn't expecting death in a year and a half out of Infinity but it seems to be a common theme. And for the record, the level was never set above 50% so it wasn't being pushed too hard. Hopefully this amp lasts longer.

    I've had this sub for 3 years and it just quit for the 3rd time. I had it repaired twice previously for burned out circuit board. This time it started making loud popping sounds, even when no input was connected. Since it is now out of warranty I purchased a new sub - NOT Infinity!

    It was good while it lasted!

    I have owned this sub for three years & 4 months. 4 months ago it was out of warranty for the electronics. About a month ago it quit working, never comes out of standby. This is the second one I've owned. The first one wouldn't go into standby. After a month at the Infinity service center that Infinity suggested, I gave up & got it back with no repairs. They couldn't tell me when they would get to it. I sent it to Infinity in GA. at my expense and received this one. I now have an expensive worthless sub-woofer. I don't want to fix it as I feel it will just break again. I'm going to buy another sub & guess which kind it WON'T be.

    Read the manual

    I am the second owner of this subwoofer, and after writing this review mine may die also, but I felt after reading all the negative I would put in some positive to this subwoofer. Also if I offend anyone i am sorry, but through my years of audio experience with helping people set-up home theater systems to my own messing around with electronics (audio included) there is a big misconception about volume and power, most people think that a subwoofer has to be turned wide open on the volume (not true) this subwoofer I am using is about 5 years old now and still serves me well with the sub volume turned up half way, and then I use the reciever to balance out all the audio from the other speakers, so those of you that are blowing the amps on these subwoofers need to read the manual it tells you to start out with the volume at half-way and then set you frequency to make up the difference of the main speakers. A power amp can only do so much then after that it gives up and dies, so try the balance approach and see if it doesn`t work, it has for me for a few years now, and when I see an explosion on the screen my butt vibrates so I think it is doing its job pretty well.

    The Goodness doesn't last

    Like the others that have complained about the two year problem, the woofer popped, then quit. Since I am a technician, I opened the panel to look for a fuse..found it, but also found that the transformer and other parts of the circuit board smoked. What gives with this model woofer? I am disappointed Crutchfield rates is so high.

    I also purchase this subwoofer 2years ago and today it died on me. As noted with the previous buyers, standby light began blinking and the back area of the unit where the amp is located a clicking sounds was noted. Speaker will turn on but no output. The unit was use probably once or twice a month to watch movies or a live concert.

    Short Life

    This sub worked well for 2 years. I only used it for movies in a small room. The bass was perfect for the size of the room it was in.The standby light began blinking and the sub started making making clicking sounds and it finally died. Reading other reviews this seems to be the consistant problem with this sub. Its not a bad sub for the money but I wouldn't recommend it because of the short life span.

    I agree with Jake. Mine did not get a lot of use either, and it definitely was never abused. I don't like an overload of bass, just a nice kick. Yet, it began to pop and crackle. I thought Infinity meant quality. I guess not.

    The sub sound good, but I need another one when I play music. It doen't have
    Hi Level inputs, so I had to use a car audio Hi to Low level converter to get it to
    work. It is great with movies! I going to get one more to give it more fill when
    playing music. Beside that it is a good sub!

    This sub performed well with our system and it sounded great. We used it for
    watching TV and Movies with occasional music but not really any hard use. In
    our small room it put out really impressive base. Then, after about two years it
    started turning off and on with a popping sound and eventually it just quit. For
    the money I hoped that it would have lasted longer than that. After researching
    it a little it looks like this is a regular problem with these subs.

    I ordered this sub last august and its performance is ok for music. Not a good choice for movies. If your main focus is home theater then step up to the ps212. The ps210 just can't handle heavy output such as in the movie war of the worlds . I use this movie to evaluate all my subs in my household. I hope this helps.

    Only running it at 50% output. More than enough power, but also able to operate
    at low volume. Very accurate and tight, and produces very low frequencies with
    ease. I have extended warranty, but hopefully I won't need it.

    Powerful Subwolfer

    I purchased this subwolfer to go with a pair of Infinity 362 and a pair of 162s in a
    room about 30 x 20. Although the 362s put out quite a bit of base themselves, it
    was too much to expect for them to cover the fairly large room and I was finding
    that toward the back of the room (where the 162s were) there was insuffient
    base. This subwolfer resolved the issue. The system now sounds very good
    thoughout the room. The sub is very powerful - it feels more like at 12 than a 10.
    I use my system most for music rather and it seems to have more than enough
    base for that use. I haven't used the base in the home theater yet so I haven't
    had the chance to see whether it achieves the really deep lows needed for home
    theater. Although Crutchfield cautioned me that it might not reach the really deep
    lows, it seems like it will to me. No power outages or other mishaps with the
    equipment. Assuming that this doesn't suffer the outages other people have
    suffered I would say this is a very good sub for the price. Crutchfield folks were
    great to work with, as ususal.
