Our take on the Kenwood DDX6019

Kenwood's DDX6019 DVD player brings you a vivid 6.95" video screen that sits flush in your double-sized (4" tall) dash opening, with touchscreen controls and easy-to-follow menus that give you total command over all the system's functions. The screen motors down smoothly to give you easy access to the CD/DVD slot. And the screen tilts forward and back to ensure you get the best viewing angle, whatever the slope of your dash.

When you're parked, you'll love watching DVDs on the spacious screen. Connect a backseat video screen and some wireless headphones to keep the kids in back entertained while you drive — they can watch movies in privacy while you listen to another source, like the radio, up front.

Great sound
Advanced sound controls like the 3-way tone adjustment help you compensate for your vehicle's acoustics. The built-in amplifier puts out plenty of power to ensure that your music and movies sound full and forceful. For even more power, you can add external amplifiers to the three sets of preamp outputs.

Expand your system
You can also add an optional Kenwood satellite radio, or CD changer to open up your entertainment options, or use the the audio/video input to add a game console to your system. Kenwood's optional iPod® gives you touchscreen control over your iPod, plays it through the system, and even recharges the battery.

If you have a cell phone with Bluetooth® capability, connect Kenwood's optional Bluetooth hands-free adapter. It lets you access your contact list and make calls, all without touching your phone or taking your eyes off the road. Install a rear-view camera, and its picture will show up on the receiver's screen, giving you a clear shot of what's behind you.

Great Value

Written By Big Daddy, Tampa, FL on Saturday, February 07, 2009

This is the second DDX 6019 that I have purchased. The unit itself is great, I just wish Kenwood gave a better selection on wallpapers. 9 out of 10 for this one.

I like it

Written By Carmine, Lansing, MI on Thursday, April 03, 2008

I recently purchased the Kenwood DDX6019 for my 03 Yukon. It fits nicely in my dash and works well with my speakers. It also looks good as well. I recommend this DVD receiver to anyone who needs one.

Best Deal for the Best Product

Written By Lee T, Portage, Pa on Saturday, March 15, 2008

Installation of this unit in my 2004 Chevy Cavalier was simple. All the supplied documentation and dash kit all provided by crutchfield for free is outstanding service. The on screen audio function controls to control mids, highs and bass are great. Picture and sound quality are outstanding. This is a very good buy for your money

Fairly Happy

Written By Jon, Parker, Colorado on Thursday, March 13, 2008

The screen is a bit outdated, as the newer Kenwood Single Din are more "iPod" looking and less pixelated. Picture is fair, again, the newer screens have much more definition, etc. Also, the iPod interface is dates and the newer generation head units show artist, title, and you can search like you search on your iPod. Only wish I would have seen that before I upgraded to this one, might have been worth the extra investment.

But all things considered, this is one heck of a unit, works great with the iPod and HD modules I already owned, plug and play, sound is outstanding, and it has been great for my long commute to work. Interface is easy to use, very user friendly. I am very happy with it, but I also have that "keep up with the Jones'" part of me that wishes I has known more about the new models that have come out recently, with flip up screens, single din, and amazing picture and touch screens.

Excellent unit

Written By Charles, Louisville, KY on Friday, February 22, 2008

I just installed this unit this week. The installation was a breeze with the Crutchfield instructions and info I had found on the web. Keep in mind this is the first in-dash car stereo I've ever installed. The fit on my 2004 F150 is clean and flush with the center stack. The unit looks like it was a factory oem item. The picture on dvd movies is wonderful. The sound is much improved with just my factory door speakers. So far my only complaint is getting used to the menus to utilize everything this deck can do. I didn't order them initially, but I'm already thinking about the navi, bluetooth and ipod equipment (and I don't even have an ipod yet). So you can see I am more than satisfied with this unit so far.

Tight unit!!!

Written By Antoine, Long Beach, CA on Friday, February 22, 2008

I put this unit in an 07 avalanche LT, it looks great, as a matter of fact it looks stock. I have a stock system and it really improved the sound. One thing that i like is you can control the frequency and the level of bass mid and high. Another thing about this unit is that it is upgradable to nav, tv, camera, ipod, etc. If your looking for something around this price range, this is the one to get....oh yeah the DVD's sick picture quality. One negative is the remote, is does not illuminate in the dark, but it has a touch screen so who cares. I read alot of reviews did alot research I almost bought the JVC because of the SD card slot, but it does not have the audio control that this one has. Overall tight and I would highly recommended it!!!

Kenwood DDX6019

Written By Dickie, Clover, SC on Wednesday, February 13, 2008

If you're looking for "bang for the buck" like I was, then look no further!
The screen is clear and legible from any angle. The motorized tilt screen allows for easy preset adjustment angles to compensate for a highly sloped dash angle.
The controls are user friendly and menu navigation is straight-forward.
The sound is excellent, especially when playing DVD's. My home surround sound system should sound so good.
Installation in my 2005 Nissan Nismo Crew Cab was a 1-hour snap using the adaptor plugs and easy to follow instructions provided free of charge by the Crutch.
I am totally satisfied and would recommend this unit to anyone.

Kenwood DDX6019

Written By Kyle, Miami, Fl on Monday, January 28, 2008

This product is very good. The screen is crystal clear with all my dvd's even the bootleg dvd's. I love the touch screen and the functions are easy to use. I have a 04 Pathfinder with Polk audio component speakers in the front door's and two way polk audio speakers in the rear door. This unit gives them enough power that I dont need a amplifier for them which I was going to get but it is already to loud and very clear (no distortion). I havn't hooked up any external items but an Ipod. This feature is the worst out of what I have seen on other touch screen units. The Ipod function only shows your playlist in a list preview which is ok but after you choose your title from the playlist you have to go through all the song to get to the one you want for example: if you have a playlist called my hip hop songs and you have like 70 songs under that playlist, you will have to go through all of them to get to the one you want unless you know what number it is. I wish they would make a new unit that is 98% just like the ipod functions, I will buy that as soon as it comes out. But if you by pass the Ipod Function then this is the perfect unit for you it looks great makes your vehicle look real good.

I LOVE THIS THING

Written By MARVIN, CHESAPEAKE, VA on Sunday, January 27, 2008

I couldn't wait to hook this thing up, and with the car specific guides provided by Cructhfield, it was a snap! Did all of the wiring at the kitchen table, then went outside and just plugged and played. The unit still surprises me with different features that I didn't even know it has. It is very versatile when it comes to shaping the sound based on the type of speakers you are using. I still have stock speakers for now, but it even made those sound 100% better. I put this in a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. Fits perfectly! The only problem I have found is I can't seem, no matter what I do, to get this unit to dim when the headlights are on. I have to manually change the monitor settings back and forth. Other than that, it sounds and looks great.

Good Product...Could be better

Written By James, Temple, Tx on Monday, January 14, 2008

Good unit for the price. I wish the the display for the satellite radio would show ALL the information, such as channel, artist, and song, instead of having to choose one or the other. Seems like such a waste of real estate. Other than that, I am pleased with the function of the radio and the video display is very clear.
