Metra

Volkswagen uses a non-standard jack on its antenna cable that won't plug into your new replacement radio. This simple in-line adapter has a standard male Motorola antenna plug on one end, and a female Volkswagen/Audi jack on the other. Just connect your Volkswagen antenna cable to the adapter, then plug it into your new radio, and you're good to go. Warranty: 60 days.

If you're adding an FM modulator or universal CD changer to your factory stereo, a second adapter is also required. One adapter will connect to your factory stereo, while the second connects to your factory antenna cable. Your CD changer or FM modulator installs inline between the two adapters.

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so, then check here for a list of parts. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

Poor reception

Written By davbeck, Sparks, NV on Wednesday, January 16, 2013
Installed in a 2001 Audi A6
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It fits correctly with my vehicle and aftermarket stereo, however, I get very poor reception. From some research, I've found that the reason is that my Audi has a powered antenna, which this adapter does not accommodate. Without the power boost, I can only get one station, and spottily at that.
Pros:
Fits correctly
Cons:
Is not powered, and thus gets inadequate reception.

Make sure you need this before you order as an adapter may already have been in place. I did not require this piece after all.

Installed in a 1995 BMW 325I
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Everything connected easily and works perfectly. I'm not sure if it's the adapter or my new stereo, but my radio reception was better with my factory stereo.
Pros:
Connects easily and does what it's supposed to.
Cons:
May not give you the best reception.
