Interested in 5.1 surround sound in a convenient package? Infinity's Primus Theater Pack with PS-10 powered subwoofer fits the bill nicely. If you already have a DVD player and a home theater receiver, just add this Infinity 5.1 speaker package and get ready for room-filling sound that's sure to impress.

This stylish, great-sounding speaker package takes advantage of Infinity's proprietary Metal Matrix Diaphragm (M.M.D.™) driver material. It's derived from the C.M.M.D. material used in Infinity's flagship Prelude™ series. M.M.D. features a stiff aluminum core that allows the speakers to produce rich, precise sound with minimal distortion. The result? Memorable home theater surround sound with exceptional clarity and realism. This system does a great job with multichannel music, too, like SACD and DVD-Audio.

Infinity uses their Primus 140 bookshelf speakers as the fronts and surrounds, each with a 4" mid and 3/4" tweeter. The matching center channel speaker has the same tweeter, and adds dual midrange drivers. Directional special effects move effortlessly around the room, enveloping you in the action, and movie soundtracks play out loud and clear. The included PS-10 powered subwoofer features a 250-watt amp and 10" driver for serious bass impact with both movies and music.

If you have a 6.1- or 7.1-channel receiver, you can pick up an extra satellite speaker (or two) for even more enveloping surround sound.

Speaker Features

Overview: The Infinity Primus Theater Pack consists of four identical 2-way satellite speakers with a 4" woofer and 3/4" tweeter, plus a center speaker with dual 4" woofers and a 3/4" tweeter. To complete a 6.1- or 7.1-channel surround speaker system, you can add one or two additional matching satellite speakers (item 108P140).

Metal Matrix Diaphragm (M.M.D.): All of the speakers in the Primus Series feature Infinity's proprietary Metal Matrix Diaphragm (M.M.D.) drivers. Derived from the C.M.M.D. material used in Infinity's flagship Prelude drivers, M.M.D. features a stiff aluminum core, anodized on both sides for increased strength and rigidity. M.M.D. transducers deliver crystal-clear, distortion-free sound from dynamic digital sources, even at high listening levels.

Woofers: The 4" M.M.D. cone woofer conducts sound faster than paper, polypropylene and Kevlar found in many similarly-priced speakers, pushing unwanted resonances beyond the operating range of the transducer. For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofer uses a rubber surround.

Tweeters: The speaker utilizes a 3/4" M.M.D. dome tweeter and waveguide to deliver a wider, more even, high-frequency response.

Enclosures: The satellite speakers are housed in bass reflex enclosures with front-firing ports. The center channel speaker is an acoustic suspension enclosure.

5-Way Binding Posts: The gold-plated 5-way binding posts will accept pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, dual banana plugs and bare wire. Note: Plastic inserts must first be removed from the speaker terminals before connecting banana plugs or dual banana plugs.

Wall Mounting: The Primus satellite speakers are designed to mount directly to a wall via the two keyholes on the back. Two rubber "bumpers" at the bottom of the back panel provide a non-scratch surface for walls as well as absorb vibrations from the speaker. In addition, there is a 1/4"-20 threaded insert (covered by a rubber plug) located on the back panel for use with third-party speaker brackets/stands. Note: The satellite speakers weigh 7 pounds each, therefore proper mounting of the speaker using weight-appropriate brackets and hardware mounted to wall studs is required.

Subwoofer Features

Metal Matrix Diaphragm (M.M.D.): Derived from the C.M.M.D. material used in Infinity's flagship Prelude drivers, M.M.D. features a stiff aluminum core that provides exceptional strength and rigidity for clean, realistic low-frequency tones.

Amplifier: The 10" M.M.D. front-firing cone woofer is powered by a 250-watt (RMS) amplifier.

Surround: For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofer uses a rubber surround.

Bass Port: There is a rear-firing bass port that allows deep bass with high acoustic efficiency and low distortion.

Gain Control: The subwoofer has a rotary control on the rear panel for adjusting the level of the bass.

Phase Switch: The subwoofer's phase switch allows you to control the phase of the subwoofer's output relative to the front speakers. If the bass sounds muddy or unclear, toggling the phase control can sometimes strengthen the bass "attack."

Auto On/Off Circuit: The auto on/off circuit turns the power amp on when a signal is sensed and turns the amplifier off and into standby mode approximately 10 minutes after a signal is no longer received. An LED indicator on the rear panel glows green when the amplifier is on and red when the amp is in standby.

Low-Pass Crossover: The subwoofer features a continuously variable 50-150 Hz low-pass crossover that determines the highest frequency at which the subwoofer reproduces sounds. The crossover has a 24dB/octave slope.

Inputs and Outputs Notes

Line-level Inputs: The gold-plated stereo RCA line-level inputs allow you to connect the subwoofer to the receiver or surround processor's subwoofer output using an RCA patch cable. If the receiver/processor has a mono subwoofer output, you may use either the left or right line-level input. You do not need to use a "Y" adapter.

Note: Above the inputs is a two-way switch marked "LFE" and "Normal". When the switch is in the "LFE" position, the inputs are not affected by the subwoofer's internal low-pass crossover. When the switch is in the "Normal" position, the low-pass filter is engaged.

Speaker-level Inputs: The left and right gold-plated 5-way binding posts allow you to connect the subwoofer to a receiver/amplifier using speaker wire.
