    Satellite speaker stands

Written By Bob, Plymouth, MI on Monday, June 03, 2013
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased two pair of these HTB7 speaker stands for my Polk surround sound speakers and am very satisfied with the product. I was concerned about the stability, not being top heavy with speakers installed, but the heavy base gives them good stability, even on thick carpet. I used Rocketfish 16 ga. wire, which barely fit through the small hole at the top, so this would be the maximum size wire you can use. All in all, a very nice stand at an affordable price that I would recommend to anyone.

    Great stand for small speakers

Written By wallace GT, Colorado on Thursday, December 13, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased a Yamaha YHT-597 HTIB, and these stands work well. However, there are are a few things you should know. This stand offers multiple mount options for the speakers, which should fit just about any speaker you have. I had to widen the mounting notch slightly on each speaker itself for the mounting screw to slide in easily, otherwise it was too tight. Not the stand's fault, though. The other thing which others have mentioned in their reviews is the tight, narrow tube for threading heavier gauge speaker wire through. I used Monster XP clear jacket compact speaker wire. It slid just fine though the stand tube, but I had to get creative to get the wire out at the top to hook up to the speaker. Thinner gauges wires will be easier. Also, on one of my four stands, there was a small chunk of metal left attached at the wire opening that I had to remove with some needle nose pliers before the wire would feed through correctly. Other than that, the fit and finish of all items is great. The adjustable height of each stand allows for easy customization. Just read the specs to know the weight limit that each stand holds, and the max height at which it can go. Now that they're all set up, they look great in my living room. I get lots of compliments from my buddies on the setup. I'd recommend them to my friends, with the little bits of advice I just gave you. And beside the stand, the Crutchfield shipping was fast, and the stands were well packed.
    Pros:
Adjustable height, weighted base, universal speaker mounts
    Cons:
Narrow opening for heavier gauge speaker wire

I've been impressed with Crutchfield service, but I was wrong. I received the speaker stands with some scratches on the tube, looks like it's a used product. Other than that, the stands are perfect fit to my living room.

    Not good for thicker wire

Written By shawn, san diego, ca on Friday, April 13, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I hadn't thought about drilling a hole bigger to try to get the wires through, as another reviewer pointed out. However, I am not convinced that the 12 gauge wire would have made it through the upper portion. Honestly, I do not understand what the designer was thinking. Many people have to run a lot of wire for surround sound. Longer runs require thicker cable and it seems impossible to get 12 gauge wire through these. You might be able to get 14gauge through them but it'd probably be a hassle.
    Pros:
They are simple to setup and slim so they don't take up a lot of space in the room
    Cons:
can't get good wire through them

    good stands

Written By westpen, westwood, ma on Sunday, April 01, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Stands look nice in the living room. Base seems weighted sufficiently for stability. I would recommend to others. Ordering/shipping process with Crutchfield easy as usual.
    Pros:
    nice look. reasonable price.
    Cons:
hard to get wire through. I used a coat hanger to pull the wire through. Took a while to make sure I did not scratch the exterior of the stands. Mechanics wire would work better as the coat hanger had some flexibility limitations.

    Decent stands.

Written By Hodge81, Lexington, SC on Monday, February 06, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Seem to be pretty well. Had to take apart to run my 14-gauge wire through it. I found it easier to push the wire in through the top hole instead of from the bottom. Holds my Energy RC-Micro satellites quite well.
    Pros:
    Look good. Solidly built.
    Cons:
Was not really crazy about the plastic used to join the two pieces of the post. Seems to hold for now though.

How to fish the wire through

Written By JimC, St. Louis on Sunday, January 29, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice attractive speaker stand - wife loves the way they look. I don't have much to add to the other reviews except that I also found it difficult to feed Monster wire through them. I solved the problem by splitting the wire down a few inches and cutting one lead about an inch shorter than the other. I was then able feed the wire through the bottom and fish the leads through the small hole at the top of the stand, one at a time, using a very thin nose pliers.

I hope this saves someone a lot of time and frustration.

    Great stand for the price!

Written By UFgolfer, North Palm Beach, FL on Thursday, December 15, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I highly recommend this stand for anyone looking to place speakers in a small room. It has a great price and -- most importantly -- passed the wife test!
    Pros:
This was exactly what I was looking for in a small speaker stand. A Crutchfield customer service representative recommended this stand to go with my newly purchased Polk Blackstone TL3 speakers. I am pleasantly surprised with this product. Thanks Crutchfield!
    Cons:
Keeping the price in mind, it is difficult to find a fault with this stand. My only concern is the plastic connector used to secure the post extension. It tightens okay now, but I'm not sure how it will perform over time. Also, in reading other posts about these stands, I was prepared to have trouble threading Monster XP cable through the small post eye on the stand, however this turned out not to be an issue.

    sanus htb7 speaker stands

Written By speaknow, NC on Sunday, June 19, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Speaker stands are good for our rear surround sound Definitive speakers (4 lbs. each). Only complaints ~ would like height adjust threaded connector to be metal ~ it is PLASTIC. Hope it holds up over time. Also was missing a duplicate sized screw for bottom mounting speaker to bracket but was able to use another (though they are different lengths).

    okay...

Written By RW, Cape Cod, MA on Wednesday, April 20, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The stands worked for my needs with one BIG problem. No decent speaker wire will fit through the tube (without some major effort). Had to drill out the top hole about three times it's original size. Not what I wanted to do to brand new speaker stands! Had to make the choice between dealing with sending them back or risk screwing them up by drilling the out.
If I had a box set of speakers with thin wires, these would be ideal. They are small and look good.

This is exactly what I was looking for! Great for my small room and sound system. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because of the time it took me to "fish" the wire through the stands.

Careful if Buying for Energy Micros

Written By LtColBuckRobley, Illinois on Thursday, March 03, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these for the energy rc micro 5.1 satellite speaker system. I had lots of
problems getting the speakers to mount to these stands. I ended up going to my garage
and digging through some old screws and finally found some that these would mount
with. Nobody else had really mentioned that these wouldn't work with the energy's. I
later went to crutchfield.com product description for the speakers and saw in the notes
under "the product research team" that they do in fact mention they won't work with the kit
supplied with the speakers You have to buy a "pinpoint" screw kit which is sold
separately. So the moral of the story is I should have investigated further before I
bought. I did eventually get them mounted and the stands themselves seem sturdy and
look pretty good. The price is more than fair. Hopefully this review will save anyone the
trouble if they're planning to buy them for the energy micros.

I was impressed with these stands, especially for the price. The base is heavy and very stable while maintaining a reasonable footprint. There are many configurations options for various speaker combinations. The height is also adjustable. I am very sastified, especiially for the price.
