About the P.I.E. MPSS-4
Precision Interface Electronics's MPSS-4 is a multi-purpose switching device that can be used for choosing between two different 4-channel RCA sources (CD receiver and cassette receiver, for instance). The unit switches between two different sets of preamp inputs when 12 volts is sensed on either of its two amp remote inputs.
The unit features two sets of 4-channel RCA inputs and one set of 4-channel RCA outputs. The inputs must be connected to the amp remote (or power antenna) lead from at least one source to switch back and forth properly. The MPSS-4 also requires 12-volt accessory power and ground in order to operate. 90-day warranty.

Features
Product Description: The MPSS-4 is a multi-purpose source switching device that can be used for switching between two 4-channel RCA (stereo front/rear) sources. For example, you can switch between a cassette receiver and a CD receiver. You can also use the MPSS-4 to add an auxiliary source when there is no auxiliary input on the existing head unit. Note: Use of the MPSS-4 requires an audio system with a 4-channel amp or two 2-channel amps.
Application 1: The MPSS-4 allows you to connect two source units, each with their own amplifier trigger lead (example: cassette head unit and CD head unit). When properly connected, Source 1 will automatically turn off when Source 2 is turned on. Conversely, when Source 2 is turned off, Source 1 is automatically turned on. Line-level audio from each source is input to the switcher, and the audio output from the selected source goes to a single 4-channel amplifier (or two 2-channel amps). You can also output the audio through an EQ or crossover before the amplifier.
Application 2: You can connect two source units to the MPSS-4, even if only one source has an amplifier trigger lead (example: head unit and auxiliary source such as DVD, VCP, MP3, Game, etc.). When connected, Source 1 audio and/or power will turn off when Source 2 is turned on. Line-level audio from each source is input to the switcher, and the audio output from the selected source goes to a single 4-channel amplifier (or two 2-channel amps). You can also output the audio through an EQ or crossover before the amplifier.
Connections: The input side of the switcher features four pairs of gold-plated RCA jacks: Source 1 Front L-R/Rear L-R and Source 2 Front L-R/Rear L-R. There are also 5 wires for power, ground and switching (red, black, orange, gray, yellow). The output side of the switcher has 2 pairs of gold-plated RCA jacks: Front L-R output/Rear L-R output. There is also a blue amplifier trigger lead on the output side.

I installed this switcher in an 03 Acura TL with navigation. I needed something to automatically switch between my voice prompts and my aftermarket radio. This item worked perfectly and was easy to install.
