Touch Panel Compatible: If the unit is connected to an Alpine touch
panel-compatible monitor or AV Head Unit, touch operation can be performed by
directly touching the monitor. While you are in navigation mode, the selected
audio source still plays, and is integrated into the display, allowing you to
change radio stations or search for a song on your iPod.
OnPoint Advanced GPS Positioning: The NVE-M300 uses Alpine's OnPoint
Advanced GPS Positioning, which uses three technologies: satellite-linked GPS
positioning data, gyro sensor technology to determine the vehicle's direction,
and accelerometer technology to gauge the vehicle's speed. These three
technologies, used simultaneously, gives you continuous coverage of the location
of your vehicle. OnPoint also keeps your vehicle accurately positioned on the
map, even in tunnels, around tall buildings, or other areas where it's difficult
to receive GPS reception.
Included Maps: The NVE-M300 has a built-in 4GB flash memory,
pre-loaded with maps of the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin
Islands. The map data includes over 6 million Points of Interest (POIs) so you
can easily locate the nearest ATM, gas station, grocery store, hotel,
restaurant, etc. The places can be found near your current location, near your
destination, along your route, or near a city center.
Map Updates: Whenever map updates are available, you can obtain the
updates via the built-in USB 2.0 interface. A USB cable is supplied.
Voice Guidance/Text-to-Speech: In addition to displaying your route on
the monitor screen, you get turn-by-turn voice guidance to help you keep your
eyes on the road. Street names and exit information are announced to assist you
to your destination.
Driving Data: The NVE-M300's dashboard view provides you important
information about your driving, such as your current, maximum, and average
speed, as well as your driving time, idle time and overall time, right on the
Alpine monitor.
GPS Status: The NVE-M300 can display the strength and status of the
GPS signal right on the monitor, so you can see how many satellites are locked
into your position.
Map Views: You can choose how the maps are displayed on the monitor.
The regular map views can be set to a Heading-up view or a North-up view. As an
alternative to these 2D views, the unit offers a 3D map view, which provides a
more realistic view. The map is tilted with a horizon line, and the streets are
viewed as you approach them, instead of an overhead view.
Highway Exit Screen: When selected, the Highway Exit screen allows you
to view up to three of the next upcoming exits. Along with the exit number and
name, the icons for hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and other points of
interest located at the exit, are displayed.
Custom Settings: You can choose from eight color schemes for the maps,
four menu colors (aqua, ruby, emerald, amber), and select from several icons to
represent your vehicle on the map. You can configure the map display with as
much or as little detail as you like.
Trail Dots: The Trail feature, when activated, will indicate on the
monitor where you have traveled along your route. This is especially helpful for
off-road enthusiasts.
