Features
Overview: This
in-ceiling speaker can be used to play stereo from a single speaker, convenient
in a location when there is not room for a pair of speakers. The speaker
consists of a 6-1/2" Dual-voice coil woofer and two 1" tweeters. Separate left
and right channel inputs provide stereo signal in a single speaker application.
High Efficiency: The high-efficiency design of the Klipsch
in-ceiling speakers allows you to get much more output than most in-wall and
in-ceiling speakers. Due to the long speaker wire runs that are common in
whole-house audio systems, the power coming from the amplifier is significantly
reduced by the time it reaches the speakers. The 92dB efficiency of this speaker
means it will play much louder at low power than other less-efficient speakers.
Drivers: The R-2650-CSM is equipped with the following drivers:
- Tweeter: two 1" silk soft dome tweeters
- Woofer: one 6-1/2" polymer woofer
Speaker Terminals: The speaker has
two pair of spring clips that can accept pin connectors or bare wire up to
12-gauge wire.
Basket/Frame: The R-2650-CSM has a sturdy ABS basket and frame. The
frame can be painted to match any decor (a clear paint mask is supplied to
protect the drivers from overspray). The metal mesh grille can also be painted.
Installation: The speaker can be installed in new or existing
construction. It requires a cutout diameter of 8.145 inches and a depth of
4.456" behind the drywall. For new construction, purchase of the IK-650-C
installation kit (714IK650C) is recommended. The speaker should be installed in
drywall at least 3/8" thick. It can also be installed in a drop ceiling (typically 2' x 2'
or 2' x 4' ceiling tiles). When installing in a drop ceiling, the ceiling tile
may need to be reinforced, depending on its size and density. A cardboard template
is included to assist you in making the cutout. Once the
hole is cut, the speaker is placed in the opening and the rotating cams are
tightened, allowing you to secure each speaker to the drywall without any extra
assembly. The cam extends beyond the mounting surface of the speaker and
will accommodate up to 1.4" drywall thickness. When the cams are rotated, each
extends 0.926" beyond the 8.145" cutout diameter.
Power Specifications Note: The manufacturer has specified the maximum
power handling of this speaker as 50 watts RMS (200 W Peak). Klipsch has also
published a recommended amplifier power specification as 100 watts. For the
purpose of matching the speaker with the best amplifier, Crutchfield is listing
the power specification as 100 watts.
