Features
Overview: The VG-C99AM Vertical Grip is
designed for the Sony Alpha a99 digital SLR camera. It comes with a battery
magazine, which can hold one or two NP-FM500H Lithium-Ion batteries. No batteries
are included with the Vertical Grip. When installed, the grip adds
approximately 2-3/8" to the overall height, and approximately 11.5 ounces to the
overall weight of the camera (not including batteries).
Controls: The Vertical Grip is equipped with several
controls, conveniently placed for use when the camera is in the vertical
(portrait orientation) position. The controls include a shutter button, front
control dial, rear control dial,
AF/MF button, AE Lock/Slow Sync button, a multi-selector, Exposure Compensation
+/- button, Function button, Smart Teleconverter, and a Grip Control On/Off
button. In the viewing mode, some of the above buttons can control Image Index,
Enlarge Image, and Image Rotation.
Installation: The VG-C99AM Vertical Grip fastens to the
bottom of the a99 and interfaces with the camera via the multi-pin camera
connector. It is held firmly in place by a screw through the camera's tripod
socket.
Auto Switching Power: With the Vertical Grip, you can use three
NP-FM500H batteries at one time: two in the grip and one in the camera. The
camera automatically switches to another battery when the power runs out of the
current battery. The batteries in the grip are used first, with the one in the
camera being used last to maximize shooting time. You can even change batteries
in the grip without turning the camera off. Remaining battery power in all three
batteries is shown graphically in the camera's LCD monitor, with the power of
the current battery expressed in percentages.
Optional Grip Belt: The Vertical Grip has a strap hole for
easily attaching the optional STP-GB1AM Grip belt.
