Why replace your factory radio?

Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

Our take on the Clarion DUZ385SAT

by Ken Nail

If your car has a double-sized dash opening, why settle for filling it in with a regular-sized receiver and a mounting kit? Take advantage of your wide open spaces and install Clarion's DUZ385SAT CD receiver — a great-looking car stereo that delivers strong performance and a wide range of entertainment options.

The DUZ385SAT's built-in amp belts out your favorite tracks with plenty of punch, playing regular store-bought CDs as well as those you've loaded with MP3, WMA, or AAC files. Clarion's Z-Enhancer EQ provides tone-shaping options so you can customize the sound for your vehicle. Song titles and system information stand out in clear detail on the bright 2-line display.

Expand your musical options with the USB input — perfect for connecting thumbdrives, hard-disk drives, or your iPod®. Clarion builds iPod controls into the DUZ385SAT, so you won't need an additional adapter to control it from the receiver. You'll also find a front-panel auxiliary input, as well as provisions for adding satellite radio or a CD changer.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

      Display Features

2-DIN Chassis: The Clarion DUZ385SAT has a 2-DIN chassis (also known as "Double DIN" or size DD), and will fit in many vehicles with a large dash opening. The Double-Din head unit features an AM/FM tuner, CD player, Changer controls, Satellite Radio input, a rear-panel USB port and a front panel AUX input along two sets of 2V preamp outputs. The unit can be ISO-mounted using your vehicle's factory brackets and the unit's supplied hardware. As always, please check the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to verify fit with your vehicle.

Digital LCD Display: The high visibility, 2-line LCD display, with black background and white characters, on the DUZ385SAT allows numbers and characters to be displayed clearly in all lighting conditions. You can adjust the display contrast to match the angle of installation of this unit between 1 to 16.

Illumination Dimmer: The receiver's display automatically dims to a preset brightness when the vehicle's headlights are turned on. The wiring harness includes an orange/white lead that should be connected to the vehicle's parking light circuit in order for the dimmer feature to operate.

Screen Saver: This unit is provided with a Screen Saver function which allows you to show various kinds of patterns and characters in the operation status indication area of the display in a random order. You can turn this function on or off. If the button operation is performed with the screen saver function on, the operation display corresponding to the button operation is shown for about 30 seconds and the display returns to the screen saver display.

Message Information: A message up to 30 characters long can be stored in memory and displayed as a type of screen saver.

Anti-Theft System: Since the DUZ385SAT does not have detachable face, this unit features Clarion's Anti-Theft System (CATS). CATS allows you to create a 4-digit code that must be entered to operate the unit if it is ever disconnected from your vehicle's battery.

      Audio Section

Two 2-Volt Preamp Outputs: The DUZ385SAT is equipped with a pair of 2-volt front and rear preamp outputs. You can fade between the front and rear preamp outputs. The rear preamp output is not switchable to a subwoofer output.

Z-Enhancer Plus: Z-Enhancer Plus features five equalization selections (B-Boost, Impact, Exite, Z+Flat and Custom). Along with 2 bands of parametric equalization, the Z-Enhancer Plus circuitry enables sound adjustments with more flexibility than the basic Bass and Treble tone controls.

      • B-Boost: Bass is emphasized from -3 to +3.
      • Impact: Bass and treble are emphasized from -3 to +3.
      • Excite: Bass, treble and midrange are emphasized from -3 to +3.
      • Z+Flat: Bass and treble settings are set to flat.
      • Custom: Adjusts the bass and treble independently from -7 to +7. You can set the effected bass frequency to 60, 80, 100, or 200 Hz and the Q-factor to 1, 1.25, 1.5 or 2.0. The effected treble frequency can be set to 10k, 12.5k, 15k, or 17.5k.

Magna Bass EX (Extend): The Magna Bass Extend feature does not adjust the low frequencies like the normal sound adjustment function, but emphasizes the deep bass frequencies to provide you with a dynamic sound. The Magna Bass EX circuit boosts bass at 50Hz. This creates a rich, deep, defined bass rather than the muddy, booming bass of a standard loudness control. The Magna Bass EX boost levels are dependent on the system volume, which results in balanced system response and dynamic bass reproduction

      CD Playback

MP3/WMA Playback: The unit can play MP3 and WMA files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs using ISO9660 Level 1 or 2, Joliet, or Romeo formats. The player can recognize up to 8 hierarchical levels, 255 files per folder and 510 total files. Bit rates for MP3 are 8-320 kbps, plus VBR (Variable Bit Rates). Bit rates for WMA are 8-320 kbps. This unit is compatible with, and will display MP3 and WMA ID3 tags up to 64 characters.

AAC Playback: This unit will also playback AAC files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs with a bit-rate of 8-320 kbps or a variable bit-rate. AAC files composed with the following conditions can be played: AAC files encoded with iTunes, iTunes Ver. 7.0 or earlier, and File extension .m4a (.M4A). The player can recognize up to 8 hierarchical levels, 255 files per folder, and 510 folders (130,560 total songs). The headunit will also support folder name and file names up to 64 characters.

Note: Tracks purchased at an iTune Music store, and copyright-protected files cannot be played.

Title Entry: Titles up to 10 characters long can be stored in memory and displayed for CD, CD changer, Radio stations and TV stations. The number of titles that can be entered for each mode are as follows - 50 disc titles for CD Mode, 20 station titles for TV mode, 30 station titles for Radio Mode, and 100 disc titles for Changer mode.

Disc-In-Play-Function: This feature allows you to turn the power to the unit "on" and start playing the disc automatically when the disc is inserted even if the unit is not powered up, as long as the ignition key is turned to the "on" or "acc" position.

Top Function: The Top Function resets the CD player to the first track of a CD-audio disc. In the case of an MP3/WMA/AAC disc, the first track of a folder being played will be reset.

Scan Play: This function allows you to locate and play the first 10 seconds of all the tracks recorded on a CD or the first 10 seconds of the first track of all the folders on an MP3/WMA disc.

Last Position Memory: If you turn off the unit while a disc is playing, it will resume playback at the stopping point when it is turned on again.

Auto Reload: When a CD is ejected and left sticking out of the CD slot for 15 seconds, the unit automatically reloads the CD to protect if from damage.

Mounting: For proper CD playback you must install the unit within 30-degrees of horizontal.

Note: When ISO-DIN mounting, you will need to use your vehicle radio's original factory ISO screws.

      AM/FM Tuner

AM/FM Tuner: The clarion in-dash headunit features a built-in AM/FM tuner with 18 FM station presets and 6 AM station preset.

Instant Station Recall (ISR): You can store one radio station in Instant Station Recall (ISR) memory and recall it from any mode (except Power Off). Once the ISR station has been recalled, you cannot tune to another station without first disengaging the ISR function. You can, however, switch to another source.

      External Device Connection

Auxiliary Input: The DUZ385SAT feature a front panel 3.5mm auxiliary input so you connect your external portable audio player or portable satellite radio receiver to this headunit. You can adjust the Auxiliary input sensitivity level from Low, Mid, to High to match the volume output of your connected external audio device.

USB Port: The headunit features a rear panel USB port on a 42" pigtail that allows you to connect and play USB Mass Storage devices loaded with MP3 and WMA files. This unit is compatible with USB 1.1/2.0 with maximum data transfer rates of 12mbps. The USB port can be used with USB memory media carrying up to 130,560 songs. MP3, WMA, and AAC files with a bit rate of 8-320 kbps are supported, while titles up to 64 characters can be displayed in USB mode. This unit also supports USB Digital Media Steaming which allows you to play music files transmitted using Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) and supports the playback of WMDRM 10 files. The DUZ385SAT offers the following playback operation of your USB Mass Storage device - Play, Pause, Track selection, Fast-forward/backward, Scan play, Repeat play, Random play and Folder selection.

During Play Mode you can control the following playback functions of your iPod: Skip Tracks, Fast-forward/backward, Pause, Repeat, Random and Cancel. The iPod Menu Mode allows you to select music for playback from your iPod by category (Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, Genre, or Composer). You can select between categories by using the headunit's numbered preset buttons 1-6. Once you have selected a category, you can search through the tracks in that particular category. The Clarion CDUZ385SAT is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model features (as of Dec. 2009):

The BLT370 gives you hands-free communication from your compatible Bluetooth cellular phone and wireless streaming audio from any Bluetooth compatible portable audio device. The DUZ385SAT can be set to automatically mute any music audio to your vehicle's speakers so you can listen to your telephone call using your car speakers.

Satellite Radio Ready: There are several options for connecting an optional XM or SIRIUS Satellite Radio receiver to this receiver:

      • XM Satellite Radio: The Clarion DUZ385SAT features a direct XM port for connecting and controlling the optional XM Radio Mini-Tuner. There are two options for purchasing the parts needed to add XM Radio:

        • CNP2000UC: The CNP2000UC package (220CNP20UC, sold separately) includes all the necessary parts; the included Mini-Tuner, Mini-Tuner dock, and car antenna are used, the included protocol interface is not used, therefore no firmware download is required.
        • XM Tuner Pack + Antenna: The XM Tuner Pack (700XMTUNPK, originally designed for home use) includes most of the necessary parts; the included Mini-Tuner and Mini-Tuner dock are used, but the included home antenna is not used. A car antenna must be added to the tuner pack (209XMICRO2 or 250XMICRO, sold separately) to complete the installation.
      • SIRIUS Satellite Radio: To receive SIRIUS Satellite Radio, you can connect the optional SC-C1 SIRIUS Connect Universal Vehicle Tuner and the Clarion CLA-SC1 Ce-NET SIRIUS Satellite Radio interface (700SIRCLAR, sold separately).
      • Auxiliary Input: A portable satellite radio receiver, such as the Delphi SkyFi3 or SIRIUS Sportster, can be connected to the head unit via an auxiliary input.

Note: A subscription is also required to receive satellite radio programming from SIRIUS or XM.

CeNET CD Changer Controls: This unit is equipped with a CeNET control connector and can control up to a total of two CeNET changers (CD and/or MD). Two changer control requires a Y-adapter (020CCA519, sold separately). The following operations are the same as for built-in CD mode: Pause, Track Selection, Fast-forward/Fast-backward, Scan Play, Repeat Play, and Random Play.

      Remote Control

OEM Remote Ready: The unit also features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit to allow you to keep your vehicle's radio steering wheel remote controls and/or rear seat radio controls when used with the optional SWI-JACK interface adapter (127SWIJACK, sold separately). Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Plusses: Nice, big buttons make this unit very easy on drivers.

Minuses: Ipod interface is slow and cumbersome. Limit of 255 songs for USB. That last one had me scratching my head. I plugged in a 4GB thumb drive with 540 songs on it. Kept hearing the same bands over and over. Found out the hard way I can't go past song 255.

      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently purchased the Clarion and had it installed by an expert. I am satisfied with the
product itself. I have a Nissan Altima and the quality of the sound is much better and much
clearer from before. I really like the USB hook up and I'm able to play music from my iPod
touch. A huge plus is being able to control my playlist through the CD receiver. This is an
excellent product and if you're thinking about a CD receiver with good quality, I would go with
      this one.

Installed in a 2008 KIA Sedona
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used to install car strereos in the 1990s. I hated the small buttions and the crappy displays and flimsy adapter kits of a single din radio in a double din car. We have a 2008 KIA Sedona (double din) and I didn't want a sigle DIN radio. This radio fits perfectly and looks great. I like the large buttons and factory look of this radio. FM reception is poor compared to the stock radio. IPOD functions work perfectly through the USB cable. The remote is limited in function. I am not a huge fan of the gimmicky light display on modern clarion radios. The internal amplification is alot stronger than the stock radio. A overall good deal for the low cost.

Installed in a 1999 Nissan Maxima
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased the Clarion unit for my daughters 99 Maxima. The fit was perfect and so far, we couldn't be more pleased with it's performance. I was even more pleased with the sevice that I got when I had to call the Crutchfield service techs a couple of times during the installation. Wiring is definitely not my thing. I had a friend help me out with the basics but there were a couple of things that weren't very clear. When I called in, both times, it was like the tech knew exactly what I was talking about and was able to set me straight in a matter of a few minutes. They couldn''t have been more helpful or proffesional. Crutchfield just earned a new happy customer!

      Works great 2005 Chevy Suburban

Installed in a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This radio fits and works just fine in my 2005 Suburban (factory Bose speakers w/ OnStar). I used the Crutchfield recommended adapter harness and I added the
steering wheel control adapter as well. The sound is MUCH improved, the original cd deck was just not cutting it. The iPod controls do work with my iPod
Nano and my iPhone 3Gs. It may not have the best and newest style display screen but, for the price this is a hard unit to beat.

Installed in a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this unit on a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. I replaced the factory
speakers with Pioneers 6 1/4. Installation was easy thanks to Crutchfield
guides. iPod sounds great, now I can get rid of my FM adapter. Looks nice
and does not alter too much the factory look. BUT, the FM tuner is really
bad. At home, the factory radio scan feature found about 12 stations with
good signal. This receiver only found ONE!. I do not listed to radio very
much, so this will not matter to me. Remote control does not work very well
either. Need to point to the unit to make it work. Display is not as worst
during daylight as described on other reviews. In summary, its worth the
      price.

Written By Jeromy, Louisville KY on Monday, September 28, 2009

I installed this cd player in a 2007 Toyota Corolla and it fits well and has a great appearance in the dash. I currently using it with a JL Audio G4500 amp and Kicker speakers. I can't comment on the player's built in power as I never hooked it up this way. It has an excellent sound (as far as the signal goes) with my Ipod Touch and cd's.

Here are the reason's why I only give it 3 stars out of 5:
The optional remote control is flimsy feeling and worthless for Ipod functions.
The display is very difficult to see in sunlight even with the contrast turned all the way up (not to mention that I have tinted windows).
The FM tuner on this player is worse than the factory radio. It will not pickup stations that the factory radio would and the sound quality is awful.
The volume knob is small and difficult to grasp (and I don't have large fingers).
The Ipod controls are worthless. Don't even bother trying to use them unless you are parked.

      Great upgrade!

Installed in a 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this specifically for the iPod connection options. I have an iPhone with nav software and there wasn't any way I could get the audio into the stock head unit of my 2005 Subaru.

Some reviewers have complained about the display. I can see how it may be an issue, but honestly I think the display is a little bit better in sunlight than the stock unit, so I don't see it as a huge issue. Secondly, the lame "screensaver" graphics can be turned off through a menu (it's a shame that manufacturers feel like they have to do stuff like this). Lastly some have complained about the audio quality, and I have to agree that without any sound shaping this thing sounds thin and downright bad. I just set it to it's "excite" mode and it sounds a lot better (and a good measure better than the stock unit).

I have nothing but good things to say about this unit. For the price, it's a good solid buy.

It's not clear (enough), but the iPod connection gives you control and audio over USB for iPods (and iPhones). As is typical, the control on the head unit is a little annoying due to the limited text space on the screen, but it works like a charm.

As a note this unit is "made for iPod" by not "works with iPhone". Basically it means that on iPhones you will get a message asking if you want to enable airplane mode on your phone. You can tap "no" and everything works great.

A good HU with a couple of annoying problems

Written By Anonymous, Bill, West Sonoma county on Wednesday, September 23, 2009
Installed in a 2004 Toyota Tundra
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The good: This unit plays it all and it sounds great doing it. the Ipod sounded particularly good through this HU.

The Bad: I ended up retuning this unit because the display was unreadable in day light. My truck has large windows and light tan interior which made the screen unreadable 50% of the time. It does not help that clarion used a very shiny plastic to cover the display. It had one other annoyance. If the HU was set to the tuner function when the vehicle was turned off when the vehicle was restarted the HU would switch to the USB function on its own. A minor inconvenience.

Conclusion: If you have tinted windows and a dark vehicle interior this HU will serve you well.

      1995 Maxima

Written By Stuart, Kansas City, MO on Monday, September 14, 2009
Installed in a 1995 Nissan Maxima
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The unit went in with no problems whatsoever, perfect fit. Huge improvement over the stock receiver. Slightly disappointed that the receiver doesn't show what is playing on the radio. Looks great. Also purchased two sets of the Infinity Reference 6032si's to replace the front and rear stock speakers, along with the Nissan Maxima harness (NOT the Scoshe harness), which was spliced in to the existing harness with the use of the nifty little screw connectors (get a set of these!). The only problem in this installation was that everything I had read said you couldn't use a non-bose receiver with the bose amplifiers for each speaker. This is incorrect, since the Clarion unit and the Infinity speakers worked perfectly with the existing bose speaker amplifiers (unfortunatley, I destroyed one of the amplifiers in splicing in the new speaker directly, and it needed the amplifier to produce big sound, which now the other 3 do, so now I have one "weak sister" speaker in the Front Left speaker. (the factory bose unit was made by Clarion, which I discovered when I removed it). I also had to drill holes in the metal speaker mounts for the rear speakers in order to attach the speaker amps--if you plan to do this, be very careful to use a drill bit short enough that once you go thru the metal it doesn't contact the speaker cone!! All in all, very satisfied with the new sound.

Clarion DUZ385SAT with some notes on mp3 playback

Written By WILLIAM, New York, NY on Tuesday, September 08, 2009
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It is a good radio overall. Sound quality out of the box was rather flat, but there are enough tuning options to make it sound as good or better than my factory toyota stereo. Navigation is quirky but you get used to it. The silver paint job on the front dial could go. Display is an 80's era alpha-numeric flourescent design -- a little hard to read in direct daylight but otherwise it is fine, and it does some funky character animation while its playing. Didn't recognize my 5th gen ipod but it could be my ipod (it works fine in my other car though).

The documentation about the 510 file limitation is not correct. They actually mean 510 folders, so it should read "The player can recognize up to 8 hierarchical levels, 255 files per folder and 510 total FOLDERS". This gives you the 130,560 songs they are talking about later in the documentation. This typo is in the manual so Crutchfield just copied it.

There is no "easy' way to skip over a file in random "Play All" mode which is the mode you would use to randomly play any file in any folder. If you are in this mode and hit the next button it will skip to the next file in the folder rather than a random file. To skip randomly you need to go back and press the RDM again and then press it once more and hold it for at least one sec. While this works, it is somewhat annoying as you need to hold the button and when traveling over bumpy roads it can be a challenge. Other than this, the mp3 playback is great.

[Editor's Note: You are correct. It should read 510 folders. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.]

Great Sound, Great Fit, Excellent Instructions

Installed in a 2007 Toyota Corolla
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this unit for my daughters 2007 Corolla. The factory radio/CD worked, but it lacked some features that I was looking for. It took a bit to get the old unit out, but let me tell you, the effort is worth it. The unit fits into the stock opening like it was made for the Toyota. Now the six factory speakers really sound great. The added ability to hook an iPod to the system makes this much easier on her when she commutes back and forth from school. The ability to plug a flash drive into the unit makes it easy for me to plug in some of my music when we get her to drive us around.

Crutchfield is my only stop for any audio equipment that I have ever or ever will buy.

      Problems...still not fixed

Written By Eddie, Dallas, GA on Monday, August 24, 2009
Installed in a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A good radio for the price. The radio went in a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer to replace the factory AM/FM 6-CD unit with subwoofer. Had to get clarification on some of the wiring because some of the connections were not clear to me. After installation and power was on, a loud popping noise was emitted from the factory subwoofer. After contacting technical service, they told me to install a voltage regulator (PN 276-1770) to reduce the voltage going to the subwoofer. This did not work. I called technical service a second time and they insisted that is the fix. So I bought another voltage regulator and it did not work as well. So I ended up disconnecting the wiring harness going to the subwoofer. The radio works fine except I don't have a fully functioning system. Highly recommend crutchfield incorporate/include a voltage regulator or something that will work for a factory subwoofer. I gave two stars for the pain I went through trying to make the system work and having to buy two voltage regulators and a Y-adaptor for the RCA radio connectors.

      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installing the system was very easy, took me a couple of hours for my 4runner but only because I was double checking everything along the way. Had to call Crutchfield once during the installation and got excellent advice from customer service.
Radio sounds nice - especially for the price! - and being able to play MP3s from CD or USB flash drives is great. Only problem was that the unit doesn't seem to work with my 4th generation ipod, only 5th generation and newer are supported according to Crutchfield CS.

      Superior Sound for Stock Bose

Written By NissanFan, Chico, CA on Saturday, August 15, 2009
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this unit in my 97 Nissan Maxima which had a stock Bose system.
The sound of the Clarion is outstanding! Takes a bit of time to splice wires
to harness but well worth it. Be sure to adjust levels on new harness as
this determines sound quality. The Clarion unit fits perfect and I can't stress
how much of an improvement over the stock Bose unit it is. The controls are
simple yet advanced...I love the USB connection for my Ipod and the ability
      to fine tune sound. Instructions
from Crutchfield are very good. This is my second order from Crutchfield and
I have found from my research that these guys know your vehicle. If I
bought from the local stereo shops I would have been left in the dark.
      Thanks Crutchfield....another home RUN!

      Nice unit

Written By Steve, Haymarket, VA on Friday, August 14, 2009
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit replaced a 1-1/2 year old JVC unit that croaked in my '98 Toyota
Tacoma. This unit looks more "OEM" in the dash than the JVC, but could
really use a brighter display. If you're looking for dancing lights on your
dash, this one's not for you. The USB connection for iPod works just as
advertised, but will take a little trial & error to figure out how to maneuver
around through the music. Fairly intuitive controls otherwise. I wish I had
purchased this unit first - could have saved myself about $85 and a WHOLE
lot of trouble and frustration. Buy it.

The Clarion unit is impressive an the installation was so easy I almost could not believe it!! I have not installed a unit since the early 80's and I must say Crutchfield has made this just too easy, why would anyone purchase anywhere else? Thanks Bill.

      Nissan Frontier 2007 King Cab

Written By BillD, Orlando, Florida on Saturday, July 18, 2009
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in Nissan Frontier 2007 King Cab about 1,500 miles ago. Install was
easy... ask Crutchfield to include the (free) wiring adapter for your vehicle.
Have used the USB and/or Aux. for iPods (Nano 3gen, iTouch 2nd gen, &
original), all work well, sound is good, and charges iPods when using USB.
When iTouch uses USB the touch screen become unavailable, control is then
from head unit. Ran USB into glove box. Radio tuner reception seems equal to
OEM radio, the instant return button to your preferred station is nice. CD plays
good, controls are as expected. Several choices for pre-set tones, or set your
own bass & tremble, it take a couple of steps to set or change tone. Haven't
used XM or Bluetooth. Display LED screen should be brighter... SETTING THE
CONTRAST TO MAX (16) makes the display acceptable in sunny weather, even
with sunglasses, barely. The sound quality and volume are good through my
OEM speakers. For the price it's got great features, that work well... and no
worries about some schmuck breaking-in to steal it is priceless. One star gone
      for display brightness.

She really likes the fact that she can hook up her MP3 to it. Install was easy thanks to Crutchfield and my wife considers me the best husband ever!

      Nice look but horrible sound

Written By payne, Camp Hill, PA on Friday, July 03, 2009
Installed in a 2007 Ford Fusion
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My husband and I bought this deck for my 07 Fusion. I was so happy to have something that looked really nice and that a large amount of people had great things to say about it. However, after we installed it the stereo was horrible. It would fade in and out of reception and I couldn't even get 105.7 The X which isn't even two miles from my house. I was so frustrated b/c I got such a good deal, a free remote control and a 6 disc CD changer but I had no choice but to get rid of it. I would never recommend this product to anyone. The look is very nice and simple but the quality is HORRIBLE, So I resorted to one of the brands I've always owned in the past and never had a problem with, Kenwood. However, I would also recommend a Sony Explod to anyone, the speakers and system are AMAZING and Kenwood has just as good of quality. I hate to write a bad review but contrary to what everyone else has written this product is not worth all of the free items you receive with it b/c the quality is horrible. Do yourself a favor and go with a Kenwood or Sony b/c the Clarion doesn't come close to matching up. Crutchfield has been wonderful with everything to the point that I return the clarion at 5:12 pm and the next morning I received an e-mail stating they received it and my Kenwood was being shipped out. Thank you Crutchfield for ALWAYS being reliable, friendly and AMAZING when it comes to anything you sell, I will continue to go with Crutchfield for all of my future purchases!
