Features
Woofer:
The cone is constructed of a stainless steel coated injection-molded polypropylene.
The stainless steel coating adds to the polypropylene's strength and
heat resistance characteristics resulting in reduced distortion and improved
reliability.
Surround
Material: The woofer
utilizes a high excursion rubber surround for added durability and better bass
performance.
Super Linear Spider: The woofer
features a Super Linear Spider design. In this design, the Spider roll gradually
becomes higher towards the center enabling this area to withstand more stress
with less stretching. This design transfers up and down movement outward to
reduce stretching the center area of the woofer. Because the spider's outward
portion has more surface area to better dissipate stress from the center, this
helps to reduce mechanical damage during increased excursion and enables the
subwoofer to withstand more power.
Long Stroke Design: The pole
piece has been extended to provide a more linear magnetic field for woofer
operation. This lowers distortion and provides the woofer with better low
frequency response.
Double Stacked Magnet:
The stacked magnet assembly is used to create a
powerful linear motor with increased excursion capability for superior bass
output.
Spring Post
Assembly: The woofer
features a compression input terminal assembly that will accept up to 8-gauge
speaker wire.
Decorative Ring:
For an added decorative look the woofer comes
supplied with a Plastic decorative ring that mounts over the flange of the
woofer. When using the Plastic ring the woofer is first set into place and the
ring is set on top the woofer, aligning all eight holes of the woofer with the
ring. The supplied mounting screws are then secured into place. The decorative
ring increases the mounting height of the woofer to 1.0625".
Reverse Mounting: The Kenwood woofer can
be mounted in either direction. The mounting ring that is supplied with the
woofer provides and easy and cosmetically finished look regardless of the
mounting direction.
Enclosure
Compatibility
Sealed Box
Volume: The sealed box sizes recommended by Kenwood range from 0.8
cu/ft to 1.75 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by Kenwood is
1.25 cu/ft.
Vented
Box Volume: The vented box
sizes recommended by Kenwood range from 1.0 cu/ft to 2.0 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by Kenwood is
1.5 cu/ft. One 3"
diameter x 7" long port should be used with a 1.5 cu/ft enclosure.
Power Handling Note
Power
Handling: Kenwood has established "Rated", "Maximum" and
"Peak" input power ratings for this woofer. The "Rated" input power spec is
equivalent to the RMS Power
Handling, the "Maximum" input power rating is a continuous power handling
specification, and the "Peak" input power rating is equal to the "Peak Power
Handling". The power ratings are as follows:
- "Rated" input power:
400 watts
- "Maximum" continuous input power:
800 watts
- "Peak" input power:
1,200
